  1. But that is one of the major issues.. The majority of fans don't have any faith that the future will be better.. Simply based on what those in control have delivered over the last two decades... Even the die hards on the many Speedway related FB accounts (generic and club specific), take the pee at how poorly the sport is ran.. Why, suddenly now therefore, will those in charge improve things? The clearly, obvious, fundamental issues facing the sport have been there for a long, long time, with the answer, year in year out, being "Let's do exactly the same thing again"... Which, once again, they have chosen to do this year.. Well a "mini version"... The bottom line is... The Premiership simply doesn't work in its current guise, and is only there to give a few "quality riders" a fair few quid, (thus increasing costs much higher than crowd numbers) and the rest the chance to Double Up.. At least a 14 team league (at whatever level), looks, from the outside, like something with relevance, and makes the sport look at least "sizeable" and covers pretty much the whole country, which should improve sponsorship and marketing opportunities...

  2. I think @Fromafar was making a general comment about the state of this thread over the past 5/6 pages. Not a specific attack on yourself. It really would be nice to move on and focus on speedway, but it requires somebody to just let it go (please, anybody). Let's hope tonight's signing announcement does just that.

  3. Bizarre. I never thought I’d see the word Brennan and “dirty” in the same sentence either. If anything I’d say he’s the polar opposite! Far too nice and needs more aggression on track. All very strange and it’s not one or two posters either, seems to be all of them that post on here! Sheffield for ya I suppose 😛

  4. Possibly they don't pay more per point or per mile than other clubs. But have extras like free accommodation, free workshop use and help finding sponsorship. So the cash from the promotion is the same as others, as they claim, but the overall package they organise is better. They also don't hang about, I heard more than 6 months ago that Rushen had agreed to ride for Poole in 2026. I'm not sure how long Wessex Marine have sponsored Rushen but that is likely to play a part in where he ends up given that they also sponsor the Pirates.

  5. Interesting take, I can honestly say that Tom Brennan has never reminded me of NP in the slightest. I like Brennan, I think he can get better.

  8. We currently have a ridiculous situation. There should have been one league, with the clubs with top flight desires bringing in their stars to supplement and additional one home and away match, and semis and final. It may have been only a handful of top meetings but the regular one league meetings to make a season viable.

  10. No, it wasn't for no reason at all. It was because SteveLyric is constantly a pain in the arse on this forum thinking he is above everyone else because he slings some money at Poole speedway. He spends a huge amount of time making a twit of himself on other topics and trying his best to cause trouble. Ask the Plymouth fans. As for me calling Steve Shovlar a parasite, anyone who still communicates with a convicted paedophile knowing what they have done is a parasite in my eyes. Shovlar was liking SCBs posts on this forum when he came back on trying to defend his past actions. Ive also seen tweets being liked between the two since he got released from prison as well. Hope that clears things up , I always enjoyed reading your posts too.

  11. Surprised they didnt leave Zach until last but fantastic to have him back, there is nobody better on his average, absolutely delighted.

  12. 6. A single league has too many issues to resolve in the short time available to be anything other than an unmitigated disaster. [Hence if that is an option for 2027 planning should start now]

  13. Good luck with that then............... hope you've got the handshake in order.

  14. We are the ones who ultimately are making the decisions, we are the ones that pay for it, without us nothing happens and we collectively are not happy about the decisions that are being made, your first 3 are not true, 1 with the exception of a couple of riders the riders are the same, 2 if common sense prevailed on both sides of the divide most of those top riders could ride in one league anyway 3 there is more than enough foreign riders willing to ride here without the need for NDL riders and even if they weren’t most of the NDL riders ride in the championship anyway 4 protected race nights have done major damage to British speedway and need to be scrapped , 5 the championship would become the elite

  15. Will look in later to see who's signed and if the fans are happy with the signing, but the last few days a hell of a lot of rubbishe been talked on here it's not good and it's not clever. Let's get to speedway issues and slagging off the track 🙃

  17. There are similarities, for me, of going to watch basketball in this country. I sometimes go on a Friday night and watch a game and it's a great night out. Lots of entertainment, good atmosphere (even family friendly), and competitive action. I'd never really considered it when I first start attending, but I genuinely have zero reference as to how good/bad these players are. I'm aware that it isn't the NBA, but otherwise it could be anywhere between the level below that and Sunday League. My mates tell me that apparently there's better basketball in Eastern Europe but I'm not bothered, I just enjoy a good night out. This is not to say that British Basketball hasn't had its own issues, they've had more than enough. However, the clubs have taken some of the good stuff that the NBA does and applied it to their own product at the level they're at. The best route for British speedway to take is something very similar. Work out what's best for British speedway and go from there. As you say, nothing wrong with picking up some things Poland does, but we won't outmuscle them on virtually any level. Obviously, the kicker with taking this approach is you'd need a solid plan, the right ideas, some joined up thinking and to get the word out there. None of which I'd have faith in the current set of promoters to do.

  18. But Poole, who Rushen's rumoured to be joining, always say they don't pay more than othe clubs? 🤔

  21. Tom Brennan has to be one of the oddest dislikes in Speedway. Doesn't seem to have that horrid, big headed type arrogance the 2 Holder's carry around & the Sheffield lot loved them. Very odd

  23. Pay all your money folks in 2026, you won’t enjoy yourself or get the product you want but it doesn’t matter it’s all about 2027, sport could be finished in uk by then, never thought the death would come from within, well they have halved my family’s money, my Mrs who is a belle vue fan has already said 5 team league doesn’t interest her so won’t be going to see the same teams over and over, may as well just have a play off tournament in late august

  24. Clearly like the bspl you can’t read the room either, nobody wants it not even the fans of the 5 clubs

  25. The riders definitely run the sport for themselves and have done for a few years and are the first to moan when someone tries to do something putting the sport first, Dickson (TM of the year)😂 certainly has a few quid to lose by it only being one league, I am determined to find out what is behind this insistence of a premier league from the collective though
    2 points
  26. I'm not that certain to what extent some folk on this forum actually want to, or are willing to understand BSPL decisions if they fly in the face of their own opinion. Sure we are entitled to voice our many and varied views but ultimately we are not the ones making the one decision that counts so it maybe worthwhile trying to understand why that or those decisions do get made. So for what its worth here is my two pennyworth on why we are having a Prem league next year. 1. Rather than simply so riders can double up - It is actually so more team can field a higher quality of riders across both leagues. 2. If there wasn't a Premier league a good number of riders (more than those who have left already) would not ride in the UK and so, 3. For the existing number of clubs to continue offering team racing, many NDL riders would need to be drafted in which would result in a drop off of competitive racing. 4. By keeping a premier league, the UK keeps its protected race nights of Monday & Thursday 5. By maintaining a top flight entity, The concept can continue to be promoted to prospective sponsors and similar backers as something which is a base to expand. That commercially is a lot stronger scenario to utilise being mindful that significant sponsors want an elite type of differentiation in the sport they partner.

  29. Its like having an old mate who you can see is into irreversible decline, but you still keep hopes that he'll recover and get back to being what he used to be. So you keep on visiting and saying "we'll have that pint one day" (or whatever) - you know its unlikely, but you cant let go of keeping some hope

  38. Imagine if they tried that last year! Imagine if Poole agreed to be the 8th team to race in the KOC and they got drawn against Sheffield, then imagine the mighty Poole getting cold feet and pulling out so Sheffield got a buy into the next round, just imagine if that happened…

  39. Just not a fan, personally think he is on the edge of being dirty - a less talented Pedersen. Sure he would do a decent job for us, but wouldn’t be on my list of candidates.

  40. To quote you - “To maintain the standard at the 2026 level you would need to find 25-30 riders at or close to the standard of Harris,Lawson,King,Nicholls,Wright etc “ You choosing to use 5 of the top 10 averaged riders in the Championship is just trying to sensationalise your argument.

  41. Poole and Glasgow don’t expect other teams to go to the wall to sustain what they want though do they? Which is what Ipswich and Belle Vue want, they want the big names despite the fact it’s clear it’s unsustainable in the current climate, which I’m pretty sure you even have agreed is true. Yes Poole and Glasgow snap up young talent nobody is arguing that, they’ve also agreed a rule that each team can only have one “Big Hitter” with an average over 8 to start the season. It’s clear you have a disdain for the Championship and clubs in that league, you’ve made that obvious. All they’ve done is taken a stand to protect themselves from losing silly money and propping up a failing system, big changes are needed and no doubt they’ll all be a part of it. I’m sure no matter what they do though they’ll always be wrong and Ipswich will always be a beacon of perfection in your eyes.
