I completely disagree. If anything, signing Drew Kemp brings in a far better calibre of rider for where the Comets are at right now. For a start, Kemp doesn't come with a history of not turning up or pulling out at the eleventh hour. Cook has had chance after chance at various tracks, and the unpredictability just drains a team. Workington are completely correct in wanting to give the paying public a reliable, committed 1-to-7 on the track each week. Kemp works hard, and he puts the laps in. Reliability and commitment is far better than sporadic talent in a team sport. This is definitely not a write-off.13 points

Rubbish! They both had 8pt+av last last except Kemp rode in all the fixtures and Cook threw in the Towel after 8 matches.Kemp is a decent replacement and will turn up every week.10 points

Fifa are ar**holes, you'd think they'd have put England on a later slot knowing Oxford are riding....9 points

Deanno is the kind of guy that the powers that be should be listening to, but i suspect he says it as it is, something the BSPL frowns upon as they prefer to be the secret society rather than what they should be which is the Promoters of this sport which has been allowed to run down for as long as i can remember.4 points

I filmed for Bob Tasker/GRT Media every week for a season at Derwent Park and remember recording some great meetings. I also went over with Bob the season before to do the interviews for the DVD's and watching Simon Stead and Carl Stonehewer going up high on the 3rd and 4th bends, was a sight to behold.4 points

Awful from Oxford, what on earth was that track all about? Tracks been poor all season for me. Without Riss we have no second heat leader, Rowe is barely contributing 3rd heat leader scores, meaning McDiarmid is riding out of position. Fair play to Glasgow, a deserved victory, a great night for Hodder but any home team should not be letting an away reserve averaging under 3 to go unbeaten.3 points
-
Cook wouldn't have won them the league either. Good signing who won't let the team down unlike his predecessor.3 points
-
Yes to the above, but he is nowhere near the standard required to replace Cook, anyone with a knowledge of speedway will tell you that. You've replaced a number one with a 2nd/3rd heatleader at best3 points

The odds for a Tigers/Croatia double must be sky high. Tigers lucky to hit 30.3 points

Surely Glasgow have to look at replacing the 2 reservesš2 points

No, he definitely said 1H1A is not enough, like most of the riders and a number of the managers/promoters and the vast majority of the fans... that still attend.2 points

The sport as a whole is going through the motions. No direction, same old non jeopardy meeting after meeting. Itās sad to see it being ground down to the state it is now in.2 points

Did anyone hear Chris Harris on BSN, saying if they don't consider 2 home and 2 away, he may retire2 points

Not Poole but some tracks wonāt run if the all night gas station down the road is open š2 points

Comfortable Oxford win IMO. Hopefully some good speedway.2 points

What was the reason for all of the other Wednesday's they've not ridden? Didn't want to run against Bake Off? š2 points

Pleased we have managed to secure a really solid rider at championship level to replace Craig. Can have mechanical issues at times and be a little guilty on occasions of retiring prematurely but he has a bit of class when he is in the mood. Looking forward to seeing him round Northside a track he goes well at.2 points

Am expecting another dust bowl and whilst I donāt care for the World Cup, there is no reason why injuryās aside, the meeting cannot be completed well with 90 mins, Frank Ebdon could have done that and you would still have time to get home if you lived within five miles.2 points

Kemp is a really good signing, suits our track for sure. He can be very fast on his day. Scored 12 points last season at Northside from the No.1 position. Glad he's been snapped up and in the side for this weekend. Averaged 8.57 when riding in the No.1 position last season, so obviously has the ability, he kicked on massively over the last 2 seasons. I would move Kemp to No.5 and have Batchelor ride at No.3 with Tate, but that's just my opinion.2 points

It appears some comets " fans " want a superstar signing when none are available and on what could be a limited budget š¤ imo kemp is a good signing, could be a bit like batch at times, but this year batch has done well for the Comets2 points

Hearing Charles Wright is ready to make his comeback, can he jump straight back in for Klindt, not sure what rules are with these multi 28 day rules2 points

What a shame. I wonder if this is the end for him now. He had decided to quit last season prior to Bainesy talking him into another go. He's still a top rider. Going off his performances this season so far, he would've been one of the best number 1s in the league if his head was in the right spot. Hope he gets himself in a good place soon.2 points

3 x Lynn 2 x Northampton Who on earth came up with the fixture list š¤·āāļø2 points

NORTHAMPTON: Jaimon Lidsey, Troy Batchelor, Jonas Jeppesen, Lewis Kerr, Nicolai Klindt, Kye Thomson, Luke Harrison. SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Anders Rowe, Chris Holder, Leon Flint, Josh Pickering R/R, Jye Etheridge, Luke Killeen. Sheffield are "without skipper Josh Pickering who is required to fulfil recently picked up Polish League commitments." Captain fantastic š1 point

I think he should be drug tested šgreat night for the young lad hopefully that'll have boosted his confidence.1 point

Well now that fully makes sense. I didn't actually hear him, just read it The English would have thought he was pronouncing "scalped" in a posh English way1 point

He does, but it still isnāt encouraging is it? Heās usually much better than this in his homeland. For whatever reason, heās struggling badly this year.1 point

World Cup fixtures were already known before the speedway fixtures were released, itās bloody crazy to run this meeting. Big reason why the most successful club in the championship arenāt running tonight and are having a week off.1 point

Ridiculous decision to run a meeting tonight, think you are spot on with the small gathering analogy. Meeting should never have been allocated to run this day.1 point

Certainly in the best interests of Workington Speedway.Cant see many Clubs wanting him these days, unfortunately because is still a class act on the bike.Let down too many Clubs in the last few seasons.1 point

Name a club where the attendance is rising year on year over the last decade? Or even maintained the numbers year on year? Belle Vue, the best track in the UK, the most modern facilities, in a major, modern city, they struggle for 2000. Over the past 10-20-30 years the bodies across the board, are finding something else once winter arrives or they're just brown bread. Especially when you move from junior/teen to full paying adult, many don't bother returning.1 point

I woulnt say that, Derwent Park offered some fine racing in its time and was a favoutite of many riders. Would Armadale , Berwick or Scunny be better than Derwent Park for example?1 point
