  1. The gaps between fixtures across both leagues is an absolute disgrace during summer months.

  2. I joined in 2003. It was bunch of serious fans that debated issues with respect. We didn't always agree, but we developed our point of view without attacking the poster. I gained a lot of new friends back then, all over the UK and in OZ. We met at the British Final and Cardiff and some of them are friends to this day. I raced in Oz, twice, and met many forum friends there who I hold dear to this day. I've always been pleased to share views with other long standing fans and to learn from their experience. Not to mention having a good laugh along the way. This is a happy place for me (on the whole) and long may it be so. Thank you Phil for your foresight and inspiration, not to mention your continued support for this long standing home for British speedway debate.

  3. Blimey, a lot of witches fans really are glass half empty. They haven't lost that many this season and Lynn were due a good meeting. They said they'd had a word with all riders to improve there performance and it worked. Ipswich made starts but got passed. Tom went from first to last in heat 1. It happens and doesn't concern me at all, I'm glad to have a local team I can watch and see some good battles, there'll always be a winner and a loser, that's sport.

  4. Sounds like a Swindon swiz to me... promise a track, get the stadium knocked down then pull the rug leaving Speedway high and dry!

  5. I’m a neutral but love seeing the Scorpions proving everyone wrong, I’ve been enjoying their streams and it’s great to see the young British riders progressing. Good rides and scores again tonight for Luke Harrison, Nathan Ablitt and Ryan Ingram who some people said was the weakest 2 pointer in the league before the lad had even turned a wheel, proving again tonight how wrong people were.

  7. Track was like a typical Glasgow lady, very wet and a little rough. Track was there to be attacked. A half hour delay and the meeting would of been complete

  12. No point having a strong rider at number 2, his heats are used up to quickly which means later in the meeting you will be weaker, better to have him at 4 so he rides are held back a bit for a run in, and in the meantime if that means the earlier heats you are weaker then it might mean you will be able to use a tac sub to keep it close, no meetings are won by starting strong and finishing weak.

  13. It's very reminiscent of what was done at Long Eaton as well. The 'save the stadium' campaign was strong, but obviously with speedway fans being more regionalised and stock car fans following drivers rather than locations, the speedway side was far stronger. When the developers were not making any progress, they came up with a new plan which would rotate the track through 90 degrees, freeing up land that could be developed for industrial purposes. This development would generate the funds for the new track. Of course, this was never going to happen, but unfortunately the leaders of the campaign group were speedway fans and they bought the lies. Obviously, without pit space there was never going to be any stock cars there again, so a wedge was immediately driven between the two factions as the stock car fans felt like they were being sold out. This 'new speedway track' at Brandon will have exactly the same effect on the campaign groups at Coventry if the speedway side show any signs of weakness towards it. There is no way that a new stadium could survive purely on income from speedway and the developers know this.

  14. I think Tom puts too much pressure on himself, he seems to beat himself up after a bad ride. He just needs to get back to having fun on the bike and hopefully the points will flow again

  16. As I rotate between Workington, Berwick and Redcar most weeks think I’ll take the two legs in this weekend. Can see Berwick winning over the 2 matches winning easily at home and running Bears close at Redcar. I’d have them down for the win there too but think the Bandits reserves might struggle to match their opponent's around Redcar. Bandits too strong at home and Bears individual riders are just too inconsistent. Just hope to see two good speedway matches.

  19. Well at least I was right about the Bears reserves being stronger tonight ! A very unexpected result, whilst Lambert still fails to impress only Mulford was inconsistent tonight and Bears benefitted. Bandits riders were the inconsistent ones.

  20. Don't worry Norbold. The local authorities are looking into it. If they don't sort it out, try speaking to your local MP 🤪 It's like going back a quarter of century, eh?

  21. Well. Congratulations to Redcar. Everything went wrong for us and we were completely out ridden. What a difference a week makes.

  22. Track held up well and some good racing until the heavens opened. Masters apart Oxford were woeful, for Glasgow everyone chipped in apart from Hodder who had a mare , special mention for Sam Hagon who was undefeated by an opponent he was riding the outside line very well.

  28. An interesting answer from the BSP to a question asked by the Speedway Star as to why we now have riders absent on Thursdays when it was a UK priority night... It has been mentioned in here quite a few times, so I thought I would share the "official line".. Included within the answer is this... "Ahead of the 2025 season, a new TV deal in Poland saw selected fixtures from Metalkas 2 Extraliga (the second division) switched to Thursday evenings, usually one meeting per round. Faced with a scenario whereby rider availability for those competing in Poland may well have been further restricted, agreement was reached for the concession of priority to Poland for these televised Thursday fixtures". Now, my simplistic view would be that saying " No" to losing priority would have guaranteed no clashes, whilst saying "Yes" to losing priority pretty much guarantees clashes.. However, I presume some "leverage" was involved from those holding all the Speedway cards?... Another excellent production this week...

  33. pootle /ˈpuːtl/ Pootle is a British informal verb that means to travel or move in a relaxed, leisurely, and unhurried manner, often without a specific destination or rush. It can also refer to spending time pleasantly while doing unimportant tasks. [1, 2] For example: "We were pootling along the country lanes in our old car." [1] poodle /ˈpuːdl/ A poodle is an active, highly intelligent dog breed characterized by a dense, curly coat. Originating in Germany (where its name derives from the German word pudel, meaning to "splash in water"), the breed was originally bred to retrieve waterfowl. [1, 2, 3, 4] The term "poodle" can refer to several different meanings depending on the context: 1. The Dog Breed Poodles are classified into three recognized sizes: Standard, Miniature, and Toy. Known for their keen intellect and agility, poodles are also popular because their hair is typically hypoallergenic, meaning they shed much less than other breeds. [1, 2, 3, 4] The Poodle Cut: The elaborate, sculptured haircuts poodles often sport in dog shows were originally designed to protect their joints and vital organs from cold water while keeping them lightweight for swimming. [1, 2, 3, 4] 2. Idiomatic Meaning In British and informal English, the term "poodle" can be used as a derogatory or humorous insult to describe a person who is overly compliant or subservient to authority. [1, 2] Example: "The opposition party accused him of being the Prime Minister's poodle." POOTLE! POOTLE! POOTLE! 😂😂😂 ... not that it bothers me 😂

  34. Yeah anyone suggesting that is a bit of an idiot, as you say Poole could've replaced him anytime. A conspiracy theory, would've be Poole preferring to use r/r when they had strong reserves & telling Bowes to take his time with his comeback?

  37. I must admit having gone through all the heats I am a bit curious as to what changes should have been made? Batch was riding well. The only one perhaps missed apart from. Lidsey in heat 13 would be heat 8 and frankly Jeppeson was unlikely to lower Dans T colours! NKI wasnt really great but not convinced he would have improved on what he got in those heats I also disagree with him being clueless at Ipswich a few weeks ago he was on it with the reserve changes etc and forced a last hear decider!

  39. Bit of a disaster but these things happen, in terms of what's needed for the league it keeps it a five horse race for the play offs - for now! Lets hope the right people are helping Tom right now - form is temporary and all that! Agree with the comments from Mike above - he's having to ride against out and out no1s each meeting and that's not helping right not but he will get there!

  41. Yep and so are most participants who ply their trade in UK speedway so nothing new. That is why the sport is a pastime that few punters care or are interested in and until it has a total revamp with people who have vision, it will continue to be a sh.t show. No regular fixtures, shared riders, no legitimate reason to win a meeting and journeymen who use UK speedway and in part the fans entrance fee to a meeting to top up the pension pot. They take few or no risks and pootle round a track and protect the revenue stream from riding in Poland but at all costs ensure no risks are taken to jeopardise the income and do the bare minimum and the punters in the UK accept the morsels on offer. That sums up most of the riders contribution to league racing in the UK and the racing on offer. Take it or leave it. The sport will never get back to its halcyon days.

  43. Have they abandoned the meeting tonight? I paid to watch the stream, but so far have been treated to about 30 minutes of a previous meeting. After 57 years of following live speedway and being a season ticket holder, my wife and i decided not to go this season....and so far we haven't missed it. I've no idea how they expect to attract new supporters serving up this borefest every five weeks or so.
