Spot on and that is why Poole will be hard to beat next season.

Maybe you shouldn’t be stalking a minor on social media.

But most of the top riders aren’t riding here, Oxford, Kings Lynn and Birmingham couldn’t get one last year. Now Emil has gone we are left with the two at Belle Vue and Doyle, Holder and Fricke and that’s if they all stay. if these clubs come to the tapes in 2027 in the top tier where are the riders coming from?

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
Tim G replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
But it’s blindingly obvious the premier league is unsustainable in it”s current guise so why force someone to go up if it can mean the end of a track. You only have to look at Oxford and see the damaged done by being in the top flight and then you here about losses made at other tracks and it’s bloody scary. British speedway needs to cut it’s cloth and run at a level that is sustainable and if it means the top boys don’t return and even some of the lesser riders go then so be it. -
Nice of you to describe yourself in your post, you really are pathetic.

Well there seem to be a load of happy Sheffield Wednesday fans at the moment and they are certain to be relegated along with having a poor season. Sometimes sport is not about winning. i also know plenty of Reading fans that were not that upset about being relegated as it helped changed the direction of the club. So there’s two for you. I expect a team like Plymouth, not running at a big loss and being able to come to the tapes the following season is seen as a success. Now, teams like Poole and Glasgow this is not the case. Anyway, would you have classed Plymouth winning the title and going bust a successful season?
-
So if Plymouth had stayed racing on a Tuesday, won the league with low crowds and went bust would you call that a successful season? Most teams in the premiership football league call staying up or finishing in the top 4 a successful season.

Spot on, same happened to Oxford last year and Poole took advantage to clean up all the trophies like they will this season. -
GP line-up and venues for 2026

Polish averages are the best marker to see how a rider is performing. Unfortunately, there is no new riders under current legislation that can be brought into the series that will improve the quality of the field. It has become a borefest but crap track preparation and a rubbish scoring system do not help. -

Ashton Boughen beat Doyle on Doyle’s home track last year, do you want him in the gp’s? -

Nothing to do with you dropping to the Championship then? -
It was absolutely chucking it down with rain last night and I doubt very much the meeting would have gone ahead even if we had dry day. Much heavier than last week when the meeting with Leicester was called off. it’s also been raining during today. You had no rain and called a meeting off so totally different.

You are against a weakened team but it’s Oxford’s own fault for signing riders who ride in Denmark on a Wednesday. -
Unipart car park is the official parking for Oxford speedway and is about a 5 minute walk to the stadium.

I don’t think anyone has a solution and that is why as a sport it is in deep trouble. Speedway is not like track days where you can rock up on your ride bike, make a few adjustments and go on the track. How many people are going to spend thousands on a bike and van to do this? Not many is the answer. There are opportunities as Dean has stated and they are struggling to get riders. i expect also as most tracks are hired, the promoter probably has to sign up for a minimum number of meetings. To me, we need to lower costs and for clubs to run on the best night for the fan base, I know this means losing top riders. This will not save the sport but hopefully keep it going for a few more seasons. I don’t think it’s just speedway struggling, I feel the whole motorcycle sector is not very healthy atm.
-
All great in theory but in reality it wouldn’t work. Poole the other night were struggling to get 16 juniors to ride in a midweek meeting. If it becomes pay to compete you would probably only end up with about 4 tracks left in the country. Most race tracks like Brands Hatch can run everyday so can offer more variation in what they can do to make it sustainable. Unfortunately most speedway tracks can’t operate that way.

Without league racing speedway will die quicker than what it already is. Clubs don't run open meetings like they used too as the crowd levels are often worse than at league meetings. The same as sidecar meetings and junior meetings. A lot of what you have said has already been tried and failed. BSB runs at about 8 different tracks around the country and will only visit once or twice to a couple of circuits so it is much easier to get a crowd in as it becomes a day out a bit like Cardiff used to be.
