  1. As a Marshall myself I know I’m not allowed onto the track when riders are on bikes, something I sign to say I understand and comply with health and safety issues. Red flags are shown from the infield of the track. So it’s not an opinion at all.
  2. If that happened at all tracks there would have been no issue. But guess what? Some speedway clubs do what they want! It should be the same criteria for all tracks and I hope this is addressed in the close season by the SCB.
  3. It shouldn’t be a fuss at all. Riders generally respect the marshals and vice versa. It’s clear tho this time that the marshal was hell bent on stopping Cook! We still don’t know why those 3 headed off. That’s all subjective. Refs test lights before riders are on track.
  4. Yes I’ve heard that some tracks do this practise but I can only go by what we have been told that there is an expected requirement from all marshals. I fail to see any need for this procedure tho given that when red lights come on and marshals flag red that all riders are aware that it’s time to leave the track after warm up laps. With what has happened at Eastbourne I can see new precedents being set that all marshals stay off track.
  5. What’s relevant is that Marshals aren’t meant to be on track whilst bikes are!
  6. With your 39 posts. Nicely outed. Someone who clearly feels no need to follow health and safety protocol at a motor sports event.
  7. It’s not the responsibility of the Marshal to put himself in danger that’s ANY marshal. If I saw that happen at Birmingham and a marshal put himself at danger I’d expect he would be expected to stand down on his duties. No track/no club/ no official expects a marshal to put themselves in danger so it’s irrelevant which track it happened at. Kids and mascots were safe on centre green, and that’s the marshals responsibility to maintain safety. Its up to the ref and authority to decide actions of any rider(s) ignoring red lights. It’s never up to the marshal to decide what a rider should do whilst on track. Cook is no innocent, however the Marshal was the cause of this whole debacle. Why 3 riders set of during parade hasn’t been answered , still the action of the Marshal is still to maintain safety.
  8. They should also for the safety issues it caused on the night. The job of a marshal is NEVER to stand on the track waving a red flag at any time. So no he wasn’t doing his job. Irrelevant. The minute a rider gets on his bike no marshal is meant to be on the track. Don’t be silly. The marshal would NEVER be instructed to stop a rider! A marshals job is to wave a red flag from the infield at all times. That’s it. The Marshal was an out Of control fool. As a marshal I can answer that. You have to sign a health and safety form at the start of the season. Flag marshal responsibilities are to red flag if the red lights come on and not before. You wave flag from designated area on infield, designated for SAFETY for all. Also to ensure anyone (Press/visitor/mascot/sponsor etc) stays behind the designated area usually from the safety of the middle of the centre green. You aren’t allowed to enter the track when riders on on their bikes on the track, wear visible clothing, you aren’t meant to tamper with any bikes unless it’s to turn off fuel taps (unless you have experience of the bikes) even after a crash. At no time does it suggest you can stand in the middle of the track flagging when riders are on track. Ever. Completely agree. Health and safety issues have to be paramount.
  9. There should be mention made of the responsibilities of the Eastbourne promotion to ensure all Marshals are aware of their responsibilities which include keeping themselves and others safe from harm. There is an infield line on centre greens for a reason at all tracks, it’s the SAFE distance a marshal should stand between centre green and track. And NEVER on track when bikes are on. If Eastbourne aren’t held accountable or put out there own statement about safety of staff then no lessons will be learned and it’s yet another accident waiting to happen.
  10. Cook, Vissing, Kennett all banned for 10-12 days https://www.scbgb.co.uk/news.php?extend.86.1
  11. Cookie banned for 12 days https://www.scbgb.co.uk/news.php?extend.86.1
  12. Aces saving grace is points on the board already. I think only one of Swindon and Wolves will make the top 4 personally. However if they put up the same fight that they did last night you have to believe we stand a chance of getting a result at the NSS. Just can’t see it tho.
  13. Gutted for Wolves in what seemed like a meeting they knew they had to win. Disappointed to have led from the off and then lose out in the final heat. A consolation losing point was a bare minimum but it should have been more. Swindon stay favourites for the top 4 still.
  14. Exactly. Can’t see the Aces missing out on the top 4 unless both Swindon and Wolves have a sensational end to their league programmes.
  15. Exactly. The side that is in form late August mid September usually wins. You only have to look at run away leaders Poole getting well and truly turned over by Coventry who just sneaked into the play offs in 10 because they were on an unstoppable run of form. obviously I’m hoping Wolves will be that team this year however unlikely.
  16. I don’t think a point is enough STR. Let’s face it both of our teams are in the chase for possibly the last qualifying place as I really can’t see Belle Vue missing out. With the Robins having 2 matches on us only a win would keep our extremely slim hopes alive. 3 points for the Robins will keep them favourites after tonight (although I think it’s fully expected however). Whilst we had a good win Monday it was against one of the leagues worst away teams (ironically their 4 pointer at Monmore last time out has helped keep them top 4 for so long) it really remains to be seen if we have started to deliver on that pre season promise. Jacob and Nick are starting to show better form but realistically for us they must show intent tonight. A boy can dream tho! In fairness I hadn’t started my reality check before I posted.
  17. Come on then Wolves, today is the day we take an away win and push our credentials as play off worthy. Bit ambitious? Hopefully it’s a first time they surprise me this season.
  18. He could have a reaction to racing tonight so it’s possible he isn’t quite fit enough. However it would look really dodgy if he rides tonight and does ok and then pulls out tomorrow. I’m guessing as long as there are no complications tonight he will be fine Thursday.
  19. The way it should be at every track so unsavoury incidents like the stupid one at Eastbourne don’t occur. KISS - keep it simple stupid.
  20. Less crashes than we saw at the British Final I guess. Anyway let’s not start a safe track discussion. It used to get boring with you know who.
  21. I’m guessing this practise may change as a consequence, or be very surprised if it’s allowed to continue.
