Bears v Poole Sunday 14th Sept.
Bagpuss replied to Coraldon's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Premiership is governed by the TNT deal but the Championship has made an absolute horlicks of their fixtures this year with none of the competitions anywhere near being concluded. No doubt due to riders being unavailable at various times due to foreign commitments, not to mention all the guests used for uninjured riders. Its been a complete mess and will probably only get worse before the end of October. A massive rethink needed for next year. -
My assumption is that each driver takes a load of family and friends. Its certainly not my cup of tea but crowds are always good and essentially I'd say it funds the speedway team. Unfortunately that means high clay material but thats just how it has to be I guess.

Ipswich v Belle Vue POSF Leg 2
Bagpuss replied to blue witch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Quite a bit of quite frankly ridiculous criticism of Kurtz & Bewley, the track was treacherous and if you didn't gate it was game over. Don't blame any rider for not taking risks let alone those two. Well done Ipswich, boooo to the weather. -

I'm convinced 'that septet' would have done in the end but for Cook's broken wrist. -

Nowhere near enough for BV. Ipswich will have the tie won long before heat 15 on Thursday. -

Doyle is locked in my shed Mwahahahahahahaha -
Not like you to be defensive about your own team 😁 have a day off with the bias. Nobody is saying that anything matters more than anything else, its just an example of how things could have been different. And shows that from a Lynn perspective we weren't a million miles away. All ifs, buts and maybes of course. So don't go looking for a disagreement where there isn't one, theres a good lad 👍

The Ben Cook injury and covering for him when he was #5 in the averages was the main issue but it was Kvech getting cleaned up in Gorzow which was the dagger to the heart of Lynn's season. Away wins at BV and Brum went begging as a result and he struggled with his shoulder for a while after. No surprise that we are finishing strongly with the top six all present and fit! As you say what might have been (an all too familiar tale).

Sounds like somebody with an agenda to me.

Workington Comets v Glasgow Tigers 23/08/2025 3pm.
Bagpuss replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
*sigh* I don't know what's happened to you FB, you used to be such a good poster. If the Lynn track is doctored then they've certainly made a rubbish job of it since we last made the Play Offs in 2018. As has been pointed out a zillion times the surface is unique and very high in clay because of the stocks (which keep the stadium amd speedway going) Most importantly its smooth and without bumps or holes and has enough dirt for everyone to race on it. Its far from the best track out there nowadays during to the material but everyone can try to pass with confidence as its consistent and safe. Anyway well done Worky and commiserations Glasgow. -
King’s Lynn Stars vs Oxford Spires - 18.08.25

Very much agree with that. Its the box office where the queues occur, get half of those people buying in advance and it would make a massive difference. -

You get the odd late finish but generally its over and done with by 9:30 at Lynn nowadays. If people cant be out later than that as a rule then that's on them not speedway clubs. Those people obviously don't go to midweek football matches, concerts, evening cinema showings or anything else that might deprive them of their cocoa. -

It depends on the limit and how many teams compete (ie who may be freed up) but I'd be quite happy to seen them all back, its a team I've enjoyed watching this year. You just feel it needs somebody to nail down the number one spot so that everyone rides on the position they should, the current 1-7 has a really good balance. Niels has been a different rider at 2 for example compared to his earlier struggles. -

And there it is, no televised meeting from Lynn is complete without a whinge from our friend from Peterborough 😁 -

There are clearly some issues at Oxford but fair play to McDiarmid, Killeen and particularly Kildemand for putting in plenty of effort. Palovaara was reasonable considering it was his AFA debut but the less said about the others the better. As a friend of mine said last night, we've only been waiting five months for the Lynn team to all click 😁 the opposition was obviously very poor but nice to hit 60 albeit too late to mean much. -
Kent Eagles v Kings Lynn Young Stars
Bagpuss replied to SpeedwayJoe's topic in National League Speedway
Thoroughly enjoyed my first trip to Iwade. The site is a bit rough round the edges but its a very friendly club with everybody we came across polite and smiling, you don't get that at many speedway venues. The track was kept in pretty good nick on a very warm and breezy day by an interesting 'water cart' although the old blue groove put in an appearance later on. Racing mainly FTG mainly down to the Young Stars' dominance but there were one or two decent heats with Coops getting past the Kent riders in heat 12 the pick. Jordy Loftus looks a real talent and Jody Scott has come on leaps and bounds this year. Thanks to Jason for getting the team over to the back straight to thank the travelling fans after the meeting, looking forward to celebrating the title on Wednesday evening. -

Made hard work of that but an away win is an away win. Hope Nic is ok. -
I wouldn't, as @BluPanther says they're probably abroad and have no interest in guesting.

I suspect rather than 'giving up' he's simply the best available.
