Ipswich Vs Kings Lynn Thurs March 31st LC
Bagpuss replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We are undecided whether to travel from the nicest part of East Anglia any weather updates anybody can give tomorrow would be greatly appreciated. Very keen to come but not to burn a couple of hundred miles worth of pricey petrol on a postponement or a ploughed field racetrack. Many thanks in advance! -
Wolves v Brummies (Past & Present) 28th March 2022
Bagpuss replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I can remember Lewis Kerr having huge fuel problems in a televised meeting at P'boro riding for Newcastle a few yars ago, don't think he managed a lap in any of his races and he got quite a bit of grief from Pearson, Tatum and Louis. Think it turned out to be a little bit of dirt in the fuel system which could only be found after the meeting having stripped the bike down. I agree Bomber has more than his fair share of bike issues but sometimes it just happens. -

Yep Lawson has started very well too. Bodes well, although the next two Thursdays could wee all over that

28.03. Aces v Tigers - Northern League Cup

Iversen seems to think there is a limit on other leagues by riding in Liga 1 going by his comments on the Lynn website last week. -

I know people love putting the boot in on Lemon but do folk really think the heat 15 choices would have been made without a chat between he and the three riders concerned? I don't believe team managers ever name nominated riders without discussions with who might be in heat 15. -

Not sure why people do it every year but they can't wait to hammer teams if they have a dodgy first meeting. It's March for Pete's sake, riders all take different amounts of time to get up to speed. Belle Vue haven't even lost tonight yet. -

It had been said on this forum at some point that the number eight rules are different this year and that they can take rides during a meeting almost as a third reserve. -
I would say sixth place is up for grabs really after the top five who look on paper to stand out. Brum potentially have two very good reserves all season and Ellis could be a very good spearhead, so like most other sides there is reason for optimism. Other than perhaps Newcastle no team looks out of the running to me.
-
I don't think there's much to choose between the other five after Sheffield. On paper we look better with Puk at 1 and Pickering at 3 rather than Pickering at 1 and Kildemand at 3, gives a better balance. Be interesting to see what happens once Kildemand is fit. Worrall should be scoring hatfuls from reserve really.

This is a consequence of Brum building their side a long while after fixtures were compiled but it's a kick on the nuts for the most important people, the paying public. -
Presumably Newman and Heeps as second string to give more oomph in heats 8 and 14? Not completely unheard of to put fifth in averages at number three.
-
First meeting Thursday at the Foxhole. Just a bit irritating we have to find out about our riders from their other teams.
-
Seems from the Poole thread that Lawson is ill and from Oxford social media that Thomas cracked two ribs at Lewi's meeting.

Redcar v Newcastle Tyne Tees Trophy 25/03/22
Bagpuss replied to Yearbyred's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think BWD, Complin and Congreve are all going to take several meetings to get up to whatever speed they are capable of, and Starke was a big miss. Plus Redcar look one of the better teams so it's not and shouldn't be complete doom and gloom for Newcastle. -
Try 10 at home!

He missed Ipswich's P&P due to covid. -
The late eighties and early to mid nineties were my golden era at Lynn as I'm a little too young to remember the seventies and early eighties. Henka, Loramski, Brhel, Richard Knight, Bobby Ott, Lofqvist, Emerson Fairweather etc. Always seemed to be last heat deciders and the racing was awesome with proper shale. And on Satuday nights!
-
To be fair to the club social media has been a lot better through the winter. My thought was that they've released few pictures etc as part of an agreement with the EDP & Lynn News but I could be wrong. Would be nice to know where Lawson was though, not ideal when riders are missing fr P&P.
-
Not many photos around online but no Iversen or Lawson in the ones I can find? Planning to go to Ipswich next Thursday if the weather behaves, would be nice to see this team start the season with a couple of positive results against the old enemy.

But might be if the Champonship wasn't so strong?
