Peterborough v Belle Vue PSC - Mon 1st April
Bagpuss replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Buster obviously wrong to say that Bjerre isn’t a heat leader in the Premiership but I suspect he has been let down by him at Lynn too many times in the past for him to pay what Kenneth was after. -

Ah I got it slightly wrong then, the two who ‘lose’ the heat 14 poll don’t automatically end up in 15. So if for example Lynn wanted to hold Lambert back for heat 15 they could put the rest of the top five up for the Twitter poll. The risk would be if one of those four riders was having a bad night..... -

Why is it ridiculous? Gets supporters involved and uses social media, what’s not to like. -

As I understand it the team manager nominates four riders and the Twitter poll is to choose which two of those go in heat 14. So it’s as broad as it is long really. Opposing fans can’t choose your two worst riders out of the whole seven. -

I’m sure they will target a win in every meeting this season, no reason not to. Disappointment at defeat is fine as long as people don’t start being silly ie demanding riders be sacked and writing the team off after one loss (if we lose). One thing this forum does very badly is perspective. -

Home win. -
Early season meetings are mainly to iron out teething problems with bikes and shake off the winter rust on both man and machine. Proctor had some issues at Berwick on Saturday and Kasper had a nasty flip at the gate last night in mitigation of their scores but what really matters is what they produce for Lynn, especially once the season is getting into full swing 8-10 meetings in. If they are struggling then I will be concerned but not really worried at this early stage.

Not a criticism as the football pitch dictates track dimensions but your straights are too long and narrow, riders shutting off and queueing up into the bends rarely results in good speedway. If ever the straights could be sorted it would be a good track as the corners are awesome.
-
Unfortunately people hero worship and fawn over speedway riders. However I’m really surprised how many have gone against Cook on this.
-
I think it says a lot that he appears to be the only rider out of twenty one employed by Buster tracks who has an issue with the sponsor arrangement.
-
I think it’s very short sighted to talk about the cost of racesuits being prohibitive, speedway needs to be more open minded and recognise that there is a need to improve the image of our clubs and how professional they come across. In terms of sponsorship, image, getting new people in to watch and just looking like a proper team then matching kevlars if not bike covers too are an absolute must. How many riders who whose club just have race jackets will be wearing brand new kevlars underneath anyway this or next month? Lynn, Peterborough and Ipswich all look fantastic and the Premiership has missed a trick with the other four clubs refusing to get involved too, it would have given the whole competition a proper identity and they could have done a launch day with a big fanfare involving a rider from each team in team racesuits and matching machines. Looking like a bunch of waifs and strays was all well and good in the eighties and nineties but this is 2019 and sport has moved on. Speedway is obsessed with dumbing down when it needs to go the other way to get itself out of its hole.

In a seven team league I’d be careful saying stuff like that in case it comes back to bite you on the bum

I’m sure Swindon fans are loving having sh!t stirrers on their thread.
-
Yep kevs and bikes look great. Scott Campos to cover as TM for a few matches while Dale recovers from a virus.
-
Folk have long complained that not enough second division speedway comes on telly, maybe BT would be more inclined to show Championship meetings if all teams wore matching race wear.
-
Putting aside the Cook situation, like Ipswich how good do the Peterborough suits and bikes look. Lynn likely to look equally as professional at their P&P later. Would be nice to think the rest of the clubs in the UK will follow suit one day.
-
Would make no difference to me, he doesn’t want a full season due to other commitments and I’m happy with our team so good luck to your club and him if you sign him short term.
-
You were actually doing ok until you resorted to name calling.
-
I feel hairs are being split here. If all seven riders in a speedway team wear almost identical race wear regardless of a race jacket being present or not or whether they were provided by the promoter or not then they are team race suits.

I’d say quite surprisingly people seem to be slightly on the club’s side which is I just didn’t expect. The vast majority of those on Cook’s side are Belle Vue and Glasgow fans and/or people with an agenda when it comes to Buster. Really surprised how many neutrals seem to have backed P’boro over this.

Revised prediction due to Thorsell and Cook not starting the season Pirates Wolves Robins Stars Aces Panthers Witches
-
Quite surprised how divided opinion is on this, would have put money on the vast majority of people being on Cook’s side when I first heard the news. Perhaps that says something. A real shame however for the people who really matter ie the P’boro fans that it couldn’t be sorted out though. Both the rider and the club are worse off as it stands.

Absolutely. One of the bad things he is is a poor communicator.
