Are you only reading the bits you want to? The whole of Norfolk has been drenched and its not drying out yet despite the lack of rain since Monday, and the track almost certainly can't be sorted to produce proper speedway racing. And after last season they want to get the first meeting right. Pretty straightforward and nothing to do with Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

There is absolutely no dry in Norfolk today, nor was there yesterday. It is musty and murky, no wind to speak of and certainly no sunshine. Maybe he could have got the track sorted, maybe he couldn't but it seems after some bad experiences for supporters last year he doesn't want people wading through mud and puddles in the car park or to risk a rain off or poor conditions for racing for the first impression of this season. Being an outdoor worker I'm personally not convinced he could get the track sorted, everywhere is saturated meaning the drainage at the track must be overflowing and it is one thing relaying a circuit in the summer months compared to a wet and chilly April. A bad customer experience tonight after the farce of 2017 could do the club serious damage.

Why did they give it to Brum in the first place?

Car park waterlogged too apparently. Very much the same as last weekend, lots of rain in the preceding days and a dodgy forecast with no sun or wind during the dry bits of weather. I think it's the right decision and good to be told so early. Early indications are that next week's weather should be much better.

You are right Trees, Poland has a much more helpful infrastructure but I think the contrasting fortunes of the two leagues emphasises how badly British Speedway has been mismanaged over the past 25-30 years. Huge opportunities missed by promoters not working together and instead looking out for themselves. We probably could have something similar to Poland or Sweden but it will take a lot of time and effort to build it up again, and a big change in approach.

Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 9th April

There are plenty of capable riders in the Championship who don't double up! -
Guess what.....there is rain in the forecast between now and 19:45 on Wednesday. No predictions from me about whether it'll be on or not as they can make you look silly but it is supposed to rain all night tonight and into tomorrow morning and then the same Tuesday night but hanging around until midday Wednesday. No sun or wind to speak of during the dry spells either. A nice early decision on Wednesday would be appreciated.

Looks like the rain is forecast to arrive around 8pm.....hopefully it will decide to be a couple of hours late. -
Leicester v Poole SGB Premiership A. 9/4/18
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This team could potentially do what Ipswich did in 1998, who of course had the sports first proper ringer in Tomasz Gollob. Can't see anybody getting anywhere near Poole at WR and its going to take a very, very good side on top of their game to stop them winning away matches. Certainly shouldn't be a reflection on any team how they fare against the Pirates and a much better gauge will be their other matches as the rest of the league looks pretty evenly matched. 39-51. -
Lakeside v Peterborough frid 6th april 8 pm CS

I don't think any concern is necessary after three matches in any context really. There are riders up and down the country who will take half a dozen or more meetings to get going. Nicholls is a class act at this level and will score plenty of points this season. -
It is but it could happen with any league, Premiership riders could get injured riding in Poland, Denmark, Sweden or wherever. Scunny is one of the safest tracks around so just have to put it down to sheer bad luck. Get well soon Steve Worrall.

Troy has always been the same, will never change. As you say Buster has to take a large part of the blame for last year but we all know what Batchelor is like, these comments still come as no surprise to anybody and he is entitled to his say.

Man City will create their own history and the club has class in abundance, anybody who is bitter towards them because of their money and doesn't appreciate the football they play needs to get a life. They aren't the only club with a rich owner. I don't think their supporters will be attacking the Liverpool bus next week either. -
Tru Plant Stars v Leicester Lions: KO Cup Wed 4th April
Bagpuss replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Exactly. Speedway has changed, to a large extent it has itself to blame for the small crowds and its no longer a sport where riders can just battle through wet conditions to get a meeting on and people have continued on to that. Too many times we have stood around watching the track being sorted after a downpour and then seem the riders either go through the motions or refuse to ride, meetings trying to be run in those conditions don't do anybody any good whatsoever. I believe it's treating today's speedway customer best by giving them as much notice as possible that a meeting won't be on, and as screamer says the riders will appreciate it too. -

I appreciate and understand what you are saying GRW but I just think clubs nowadays can ill afford to risk incurring the cost of a rain off or a low crowd through dodgy weather. As improved as the weather has been over the last couple of days there is still an awful lot of water and saturation around and with heavy possibly thundery showers forecast for this afternoon it would only take one of those to knock things on the head even if the track could have been sorted for tonight. Factor into that the reluctance of modern day riders and machinery to get stuck in on a wet track and Liverpool v Man City on telly I think it was the only sensible decision really, as frustrating as it is. -
Exactly, I don't think too many people are particularly fussed with how their riders do in Poland or anywhere else for that matter.
