As Steve says I never blamed Poole, it's the system which is broken letting riders back into the league on false averages having been away for a few years - five years in one case! Assessed averages for riders who haven't ridden here are a bit different but I agree they aren't always reflective of ability.

While the league is very even after Poole I don't see Belle Vie finishing outside the top four but for some horrendous injury issues. Similarly unless those injury issues struck somebody else then any CL team added to the PL as they line up now would finish a comfortable 9th.

I don't think anybody will get near Poole. After that its pretty even, every club could make a case for finishing somewhere 2nd-4th.

Mixed feelings really, take away Poole's ringers and the league looks on paper at least to be as even as ever. But it doesn't do the sport any good to freeze out bigger names, particularly one or two who have been loyal to the UK and their particular clubs. And to then put the price up

Apparently it was said last night that some tracks will be charging £20 for admission, absolutely bonkers.

I think the kids free idea is a great one but unfortunately the trade off is to stick an extra quid on an adult price, it's going to split opinion of course and you can't please all of the people all of the time. You just hope it will lead to more under 16's going which is the whole point. Even if it leads to a few people not going who probably weren't going to anyway.....

I don't think there's any doubt that we look one of the weaker sides on paper, but it's far from doom and gloom. We have as good a number one as anyone (apart from perhaps Somerset!) and a strong reserve as well as two promising teenagers. One of the other three needs to step up to third heat leader for us to have a good season and if they can't then we must not delay in bringing somebody in who can. Being widely predicted to finish 8th means there's only one way to go and that's up, the aim has to be top four. This team ought to be strong at home and needs to hit the ground running to that end, sure there will be some away beatings but hopefully there will be some good showings too. The pressure is off and we need to use that to our advantage. There is always a fancied team who struggles and an unfancied one that flourishes, hopefully that will be us. Not particularly impressed with the price increase but like the fact that kids are free.

Along with the Olympics the World Cup is THE greatest sports tournament. An awful lot of people who go to speedway also like football and I think speedway fixtures need to be carefully planned while the tournament is on to avoid poor crowds. Of course it depends on the game on telly that particular evening......England v Brazil will have a different affect to Iran v Costa Rica for example!
