Premiership 23/04/18 - Leicester v Swindon
Bagpuss replied to ReadingRacer2017's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The ' so called experts' predictions are based on where teams will be in September, not April. -

Wolverhampton v Poole. Prem A. 23/4/18
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wolves is a unique shape, the team contains riders who ride it very well and they very rarely lose at home so they very much do have a good home advantage. However the majority of the riders in the league have ridden it enough to know how to get round it quickly, the difficulty is going there twice a season against good riders who ride it twenty odd times a year. It's good to have different tracks in the league, variety is good for the Premiership. They are all there to be ridden. -
Kings Lynn V Poole 25/04/18

Big difference between what you were running on about on Wednesday night and keeping Kildemand if he wanted to stay. Sundstrom would go because Kildemand is better, not because he is crap and won't do a good job over the season. If every rider who had made a slow start to the season was replaced after three meetings then there would be very few clubs who wouldn't have sacked at least one rider by now. It's just not sensible or realistic. -

To be fair if Poole can financially persuade Kildemand to stay and fit Holder in too they'd be daft not to. -
Nobody can ever convince me that a 'team' of riders all in different colour kevlars look as good as seven matching team suits. For the top division of a 'professional' sport it's not acceptable, in fact I'd say it should be compulsory for every team in our top two divisions.

It would be nice if all the silliness and name calling could stop on this thread, let's get it back to civilised conversation and debate. My prediction 45-45. -

Beating Glasgow one week and losing to Newcastle the next - Berwick Bandits in a nutshell. -

19/04/18 - Premiership - Swindon v King’s Lynn
Bagpuss replied to ReadingRacer2017's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I agree about the scoring system, it was one of British speedway's best ever ideas which worked really well, then they went and spoilt it by giving the home team three points for any win. Hopefully one day they'll put it back to how it was. -
Sheffield v Scorpions SGBCS 19/04/18 @ 19.30

Great to see such a positive thread, and pleased to read that the racing was so good. -
Poole v Swindon SGB Prem A. 18th April 2018

IMO half a dozen meetings is a reasonable amount of time for a speedway rider to 'get going'. Replacing them after any less is a bit hasty. -

The season is a long one and I'm sure he'll come good. Showed his class in winning heat 15 tonight. I thought it looked like machine rather than man which held him back a bit last night but he'll get there, he's too good a rider not to. -

I'll take that all day long. This Lynn team may not be the most talented but they seem to have plenty of grit and determination. Did Troy throttle off on the last bend of heat 15 -

Would much rather watch Kildemand personally even though he may score more points. I don't think we need fear anyone at home but Poole could be on the rebound after last night and will ride our track well -

Apologies, I thought we were talking about new signings. I could be wrong but I think it's R/R only for second strings. -

Of course the problem with all the riders named is that you would lose the benefit of having Kerr at reserve. -

He would. As would Mark Riss of those riding over here who appeared in the Prem in 2017. Haven't looked through the Championship to see who else would fit on converted figures. -
King's Lynn v Belle Vue 18/04/18
Bagpuss replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Appreciate what you say about Andersen but he needs half a dozen meetings at least, looked a bag of nerves last night and was quite ratty in between heats....needs to settle down a bit and relax on the bike. Kept turning too hard and scrubbing his speed off but I'm sure he'll improve. Lives at the stadium so should be able to practice practice practice. As others have said, the promotion have listened to their customers and the challenge is to maintain the high standards set last night. -

Thats a fair point. Seems Lewis has fractured his scaphoid so short term kind of goes out of the window, a replacement is needed. Not sure who would fit? -

In theory though Fricke could have caught and passed Iversen had the collision not occurred.......there was no chance of that as he was badly baulked by Rose and I think it was the right decision to have a re-run. -
Poole v Swindon SGB Prem A. 18th April 2018
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Absolutely, it's all about peaking in September and that's something Poole are traditionally good at. To be fair it's only a couple of Poole people getting their knickers in a twist. And there is a lot of ribbing because of how good your team looks and because of the trumpeting from some of your fans. At the end of the day it's best to get these results out of the way early on. One would like to think that comments about average fiddling are wide of the mark.
