Speedway's Twisted Mentality...
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to Gresham's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I've said many times it boils my piss when I see tuners taking the credit for riders , it shouldn't be like that, in speedway fans don't care about what bikes and who tunes them ,it's about the rider , it is not a bike sport it's a team sport on bikes , tuners and riders are dictating the direction and the cost of the sport and if you let the tail wag the dog for long enough the dog will fall over , the lesson is there to see and it's been there for long enough but will anything change ? I doubt it- 61 replies

For me it's everything , always has been always will , no other sport even comes remotely close , the noise of a speedway bike is a pure music to me , I have done pretty much everything in this sport and it has broke my heart a few times , broke bones a few times and wiped my bank balance too many times but it has been worth it and although it winds me up now and again I love it as much as ever and really couldn't imagine life without it

then when mjj was excluded the guy off one should of been excluded too as he shoved mjj going into first corner causing him to run into other rider and don't forget bjerres miss timed elbow when he was off gate one -

Iversen would of missed the corner even without the elbow , his bike was still driving forward with his wheel off the ground at the point where he should of been turning , a deliberate elbow yes but never an exclusion -
Not the team I would of picked , would of gone for Harris or worrall over cook and bates over Ellis at reserve but it only matters what 1 person thinks and as long as they give their all we are behind them

Unless rosco knows the team already I take it the whole squad have all had their GB kevlars made just incase ? Cause you can't knock them all up after practice

my point was general having seen how it is in Poland and this is what they do when they feel like it unless it's Ramadan celebrations nothing really gets the go ahead where I live and no I don't know if anyone has tried but you can't even take a fan round on s bike after a meeting now -

yes the original video was organised by red bull, but in general they want to ride in a field ,they ride , they want to ride on a lake , they ride and nobody says a thing , I want to ride my bikes and I have to travel half the country and then can't start them till a certain time and then can't ride in the pits , it's all h&s crap and I firmly believe as someone who has had the misfortune to have work with Tata steel that H&S was a big factor in why they are in the trouble they are in ,H&S is killing this country -

your missing the point slightly , nobody is interested in organised crap we just want to have fun on wheels whenever and wherever we like , there is some woods by me where loads of lads rode our mx bikes but now no one can ride there , when I was in Czech a couple of years ago there were kids everywhere on fields and round lakes on mx bikes it was refreshing to see , I have bikes but have to travel to use them , I live 3 miles from a speedway track but I can't just turn up ride my speedway bikes whenever I feel like it but you can in poland -

you can't even start a bike in this county without someone complaining , the pole who I mechaniced for has his own track the back of his house and nobody cares and they have bbq's at frozen lakes in the winter and make tracks on them -

even so this is typical of Poland and one thing it shows is how far stuck up our own backside with health and safety we are in Britain -

god I love Poland -
the bookies would have picked that up , they know where speedway betting will come from and how bets will be made , try to put a large bet on Harris to be world champ with online bookies and your betting will be vetted , so if ting tong from ping pong suddenly bets £10000 on iversen to score less than 5 , alarm bells would be raised
-
he beat pedersen King and Harris and fell in another while 3rd not quite a hampered performance on a small track where power isn't King and surely he used more than one bike , he also has a poor performance in Warsaw , similar track to cardiff
-
I think slower than 3 points at GP level

it would only hinder fuel flow on direct injection fuel system , speedway uses carbs so the tank fills the float chamber , a float chamber is enough to run a bike for 1/2 lap with fuel supply completely cut off , so even a reduced flow would still fill the float chamber faster than the engine can use it , so imo the sponge was used for fuel additive or water depending on who put it in and also iversen would of noticed the bike hesitating if it was fuel starvation , water in fuel would just make it feel slow
-
yes water would be OK to slow a bike down without engine damage , what I want to know is who found these sponges at Coventry , his team or the machine examiner ? , if it was the latter then the "I don't know how they got in there" sounds like the plea of a guilty man but if it was his team then it's got to be sabatage in some way
-
Sponge is also an amateur and crude way of getting additive (nitro or similar) into the fuel system when the fuel is supplied by a regulated source
