Yeah the other squad member has to be about who would go better in Russia if needed. Harris has the experience and has had a decent start to the season and is a better bet there than Worrall. He’s still unlikely to ride though unless Tai or Cook get injured.

Coles seems to be one of them riders who has ‘potential’ year after year but never really lives up to it. But you have random ones like Starke who was in a similar situation and did make a breakthrough.

Very harsh if it’s just the highest points total in 2nd place as that excludes the 3 team group! Points average would be fairer than that. Was the points average used last season?

How do they decide the best placed 2nd finisher in the shield? Use average points, discount points against the bottom placed team or something else?

With 3 of the hottest young prospects in Bickley, Flint & Palin all in the same team it’s going to be an exciting season at the NSS. I can see many more teams getting hit for 60+.

It still seems a very unfortunate situation to have been heaped on Palovaara’s door! Worrall is a genuine number 1 and the Diamonds now have a decent top 3 to match and better most sides. However it’s an awfully long tail. I can see changes at the bottom end ahead with 4 reserves in that team now.

Berge looked critical to Somerset’s season as someone who could genuinely significantly increase his average. He’d be bound to ride like a heat leader at the OTA. Compare that to Grobauer who the management hope will ride to his average and knows zero away tracks, it looks like a big step down for Rebels fans. Imo it goes from looking like a solid top 4 side to now having major question marks over the bottom end of the team.

We’ve been here before repeatedly in the last couple of seasons. Just because they’re on the calendar now, will they actually be run?!
