  1. Same for a few fans, I only live 2 miles from the Abbey, but some have a 100 mile round trip. The weather forecast looks ok for Swindon.
  2. Can't see many turning up for this one, hopefully a rain off, if not Wolves could hit mid 50s with no Morra. Robins season could then be over, but still have heaps of home matches left in July and August. Financial disaster for the club, with only 4 home matches so far, its all a bloody farce! Still no sign of shiny new stadium. I saw Olsen and Mauger ride together for Newcastle at Swindon 1968. Briggs was injured no guest, it was inevitable their unbeaten home record stretching back 3 years went up the spout, 38-39.
  3. Was good to see Batch getting generous applause from Robins fans on his lap of honour at last meeting. Nobody is as good as Doyley but if Morra rides and Swindon can reproduce their early meeting form against Rye House Wolves could be in for a shock. Hopefully the season is not over as crowds will drop even further.
  4. Would agree with the top 4, with Aces at number 1, unless Swindon can miraculously overcome the Doyley absence. Wouldn't put it past them. Somerset or Leicester fighting for wooden spoon as predicted.
  5. It just said Irish riders, don't know any speedway riders from the Emerald Isle.
  6. Penhall Hancock Ermolenko Moran Autrey
  7. Williams Jones Evans Davies Price
  8. McCoy Eddery Walsh Geraghty Kinane
  9. Martin is not normal, he is a God from the small town of Marlborough. Can recall when I went into his workshop by The Roebuck, quiet, unassuming, bloody nice chap, always has time for a chat.
  10. Perky had 4 good battles with Zach, the Swindon boy coming from behind in the first 2. Harris wouldn't have done as well as Batch. The Robins team looks good, the biggest concern must be the poor crowd, real lack of atmosphere, there has to be regular Thursday night racing. Swindon at Somerset was far better racing, you never expect too much excitement at the Shabbey. Bloody cold wind last night.
  11. Sad to see the young local Purton lad Darryl Ritchings giving up the sport. Tunny would be a good signing.
  12. Kennett very poor at Swindon tonight apart from one race when he passed Morra. Batch by far their best rider, Nicholls tried hard did ok, Robbo had a go, apart from that no one else stood out.
  13. Swindling Swindon, 3 quid for a programme insert! Average meeting, below average crowd. Swindon were thrashing them, Doyley untouchable, Kennett pants apart from heat win over Morra, excellent pass. Zach did well. Best ever from BWD, Adam improving, Bellego still not at his best. Will be surprised if Rye finish in top 4. Only 2 home wins both against them.
  14. 9 of these at home, the league table very lopsided at present, with Swindon only ridden 3 home matches in the first 10 weeks of the season. Could shoot up table end of August, or be relegated.
  15. Speedway was always marketed as March-October, now perhaps it should be June-August. How many peeps can afford 6 meetings in 2 weeks, away to Zummerzet and 5 meetings at The Abbey end of Aug, I know we won't be going to all. Only around 11 Thursday home meetings this year, must be around 21 Thursdays between April-Aug. Why not have meetings in September?
  16. Would get there by 7, should be decent crowd tonight. The Abbey looks almost empty at 7.20 then hundreds pour in between then and 7.30. GO ROBINS!!!
  17. Good weather forecast, should be good crowd, the fans hungry for some bike racing. Will go 49-41 Robins, pulling away in last 3 heats for first league home win. Hoping the Flying Frenchman can find his early season form, and Adam and BWD can rack up some points.
  18. Is there a meeting at The Abbey tomorrow eve?
  19. Well done Jase on winning GP, now second one point behind Dudek.
  20. Mid July I think there are five matches in a week, 3 away, then we have all those home meetings end of August. We have only had 3 home league matches so far and we are in June! The home season is due to finish end of August if we don't get into playoffs. Can anyone recall fixtures this erratic? Most riders are racing in the other league as well, so next season just have one big league, otherwise no future for British league speedway. Line-ups weakening, crowds falling, something needs to be done. Hundreds have deserted the team in the past 10 years, only a new stadium can get some of those back. Consider the fans Swindon. There are plenty of other sports to follow.
  21. At the Abbey 7 out of 8 Thursdays no Robins home meeting. We raced Pirates mid April then only 1 meeting since then. Next meeting 15 June. Then we have 5 home meetings in 14 days end of August! A few will lose interest and do other things. Crazy fixture planning.
