  1. No team is going to pay any large fee for a rider that might do a Woffinden in a season or two.
  2. I can understand your frustration of coming so far, finishing top, and it seems everthing went against you, but in the clear light of day I don’t believe the ref actually got much wrong except not to exclude Ellis twice more for his constant rolling at the gate. Ellis had been warned before he was excluded. He didn’t have to touch the tapes. Moving was enough for the ref to exclude him. Simple as that. As for Palm Toft. He left a whopping great gap entering the third bend. Jakobsen didn’t need a second invite and charged through. Toft tried to close the gap but Jakobsen was already there. Fair call. All this blaming off the ref is of course anti Poole BSF herd mentality. Kings Lynn were better than they usually are at Poole. But one team wanted it more. Middlo gets some unjust stick on here but last night shows what a man manager he is by getting the boys fired up. Wednesday is going to be tough. But we can do it.
  3. No. Iversens season is finished he wont be riding in the meeting on Wednesday or KO Cup.
  4. So “The Peoples Team” Poole Pirates have a reasonable lead to take north tomorrow. Raced last night on a fairly prepared track, will the compliment be reciprocated? I somehow doubt it. I don’t think the word “racing” will come into it tomorrow. Super grippy IMO with huge gaps between riders. It will almost certainly be a gating competition. The boys need to be ready for it and it won’t be an entertaining meeting racing wise. And I am expecting Kings Lynn to take a healthy lead before the track slickens off. No last places will be the order of the day. Come on boys we can do this!
  5. Well I have just read through this thread with tears of laughter in my eyes. What a load of Poole haters on here tonight. Mind you I do agree with one thing. The ref made a howler. He warned Ellis. And what happened? Ellis then rolled to two victories. The crowd clearly saw him roll but the ref let it go. Very unfair. What’s the point of warning a rider then allowing him to get away with it twice more? Elliss got his come uppance in heat 13 and heat 15, but the six points he scored shouldn’t have happened. As for everything else, I though the ref got it all correct. Toft took a dive, could easily have stayed up. This is the final. Racing is hard. If there was the slightest of touches, it wasn’t enough and like Doyle last week, the refs are wised up. Pirate fans couldn’t have asked or expected for more. A 16 point lead. In all the playoff history I can’t remember such a lead being turned over, so Kings Lynn will have to break records to win the title this year. A fabulous performance from the boys, who even after allowing Kings Lynn a comeback mid meeting pulled away again. Is 16 enough? Possibly. Possibly not. Middlo said in the post meeting conference that Buster Chapman has already spent the day cooking the track to make it ultra grippy, as he did last time when Poole visited. The boys said they were all expecting it to be grippy and will be ready for it. Very pleased at half time. The boys have said there will be no complacency and they will be going to Kings Lynn to win. Expecting Kings Lynn to come out all guns blazing so we will need to keep it tight.
  6. About 20-25 Lynn fans on the second bend. Just said hi to Trees. There fans seem confident of at least getting a draw tonight if not a win. Crowd building nicely. Spoke to Nigel Pearson. He said BTarr more than happy with covering speedway. Expecting large viewing figures tonight as no live football.
  7. So. Naughty Naughty Lynn. Hearing some right shenanigans this afternoon. Tut tut.
  8. A better and more sensible solution would have been to have told Lynn they can’t use either rider as both had a deal with Poole. Use r/r or another guest. Fair and sensible.
  9. Of course it was. But common sense has prevailed and its now fixed. Come on you Pirates!
  10. Oh well off to Wimborne Road for some speedway racing. Hopefully a good meeting. Lets hope for some good racing and lots of controvesy. Come on you Pirates!
  11. Not unless it has changed in the last 30 mins. Edit. It has changed. Lynn are now 4/5 and Poole 7/5. Lynn still favourites though and rightly so.
  12. The bookies have certainly taken all this into account. Kings Lynn are huge favourites!
  13. Kings Lynns management are very happy with the deal. They now have a rider who they were worried about for the second leg in their team. The rules should have been in place so that Ellis and Morris were protected for Poole. Lynn could have gone with Howarth or r/r.
  14. Kings Lynn didn’t want Morris. They wanted Ellis for both legs. Poole backed down for the good of the sport.
  15. There. I said it wouldn’t take long for the usual suspects to start moaning about Poole being over the limit for Wednesday. If we win it will all because we were over the points limit yadda yadda yadda. Kings Lynn are still firm favourites with the bookies.
  16. Http://www.speedwaygb.co.uk GRAND Final rivals Poole and King’s Lynn have named their teams for both legs of the Premiership title decider this week. Adam Ellis will figure for King’s Lynn in both legs of the tie to replace the injured Niels-Kristian Iversen – and Poole have now booked Nick Morris to cover for Brady Kurtz, also in both meetings. Kurtz crashed out of last Monday’s semi-final thriller with Somerset and sustained a broken collarbone, and Grand Prix star Iversen was hurt in the Tomasz Gollob Benefit meeting in Poland on Sunday. The move to book both riders for both legs has been approved with the agreement of both the Poole and King’s Lynn managements, the Speedway Control Bureau and the BSPA Management Committee. British Speedway vice-chairman Rob Godfrey said: “There was a serious risk of damaging the credibility of our sport because of the guest riders switching clubs after the first leg. “We all agreed this cannot be allowed to happen at a time when the sport is enjoying such a high profile with a British World Champion crowned at the weekend. “A slight amendment has been made to the regulations to allow for these line-ups, and I think everybody agrees it is in the best interests of the sport. “We now wish both Poole and King’s Lynn all the very best for what should be a really entertaining Grand Final for the fans present at each venue and those watching the superb coverage on BT Sport.”
  17. For the first time real common sense applied. It was a completely ridiculous situation that did nothing but damage the sport. Now we can look forward to the final with no issues. However, if we win it I guess some will say its a tainted win as we are over the points limit in the second leg........ So Iversen out of both finals.
  18. Reading the above, there are 2 rules which need to change as a matter of course. The first one is that a rider cannot ride for both teams in the final. The second rule is that riders from the rwo defeated semi final teams also become allegeable to be used as guests.
  19. Poole boss Matt Ford has acknowledged that whilst the King's Lynn Stars use of Adam Ellis as a guest rider for tonight's Premiership play-off first leg is "not ideal", it is permitted within the regulations. Ford booked Ellis last week for the Pirates second leg visit to Norfolk this coming Wednesday after it was evident that Brady Kurtz would be a certain absentee from the Pirates' 10th play off final and then on Sunday King's Lynn found themselves in search of a replacement for Niels-Kristian Iversen who was injured in Poland, and Ellis fitted the bill for them too. Ford explained "We have had a great deal of correspondence today asking how is it possible that Adam will be riding against us tonight but for us on Wednesday and whilst I accept it is not an ideal situation, there is nothing in the rules to prevent this happening. We declared our line-up to King's Lynn last week in accordance with the requirements so they were fully aware that we had booked Adam for Wednesday, and as we were able to go 5% above Brady's average for the home leg I took the decision to utilise Nick Morris for tonight. Whilst the rules preclude teams booking guests from clubs that have already competed in the play-offs, therefore ruling out riders from Somerset and Belle Vue of course, there is nothing to prevent more than one side booking the same rider in different meetings of the play-offs." Tonight's meeting gets underway at 7.30pm with the gates opening from 6pm. Ticket prices are £20 Adults; £17 OAPs & Concessions; £14 Students; £8 Youth (11-15); £4 Child (5-10); £45 Family ticket (2 Adults/2 Child). Programme - 40 page special £4
  20. OK it’s time to put this mess behind us and try to look forward to the final. For those travelling down from Kings Lynn, the weather is dry and overcast. No rain is forecast so it’s all good to go. I believe Kings Lynn are far stronger with Ellis in the team. It should be relatively easy to outscore Iversens efforts this year. Lynn are certainly strengthened tonight. If Iversen doesn’t ride in the second leg they could be weakened but around Wimborne Road Iversen is not a serious threat. Poole need to start the meeting far better then we did against Somerset. We can’t afford to wait until heat 8 before waking up. Very hard one to call. I think we need 12-14 points to be in with a shout of winning the title. Not going to be easy to get any type of lead. Just hope it’s a great meeting.
