Leicester - Swindon 1.4.17
Steve Shovlar replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So the track is finished and raceable I take it? Has there been a practice on it? -
Thought this Gavan bloke had been banned? Who allowed him back? The place was far better with him and his bile nowhere to be seen. Now he is back he is already clogging up the Poole threads with his usual crap. Can't help himself. If a Poole fan spent their time on this forum posting anti Ipswich rhetoric on the Ipswich threads he would be classed as a nutter.

Leicester - Swindon 1.4.17

Why? -
Poor commentary and graphics. Wrong order, spelling mistakes. Thought the sport was big in Poland these silly errors would have been avoided. The commentary is banal. Just had a good pass and the guy continued to talk as though he was compiling a grocery list. Did he even notice what was happening on track? And people on here slag off Nigel and Kelvin.

Shanes reminds me of Steve Schofield. A small bulldog of a rider. He needs more rides though and might only get three while Klindt is at reserve. The problem comes when Championship teams come knocking. From what I can gather he has a busy grass and longtrack schedule which involves a lot of continental dates and means he won't be available on a lot of dates. Perhaps after this season he will have to put grasstrack on the back burner and concentrate where the money is.

Rye House V Wolverhampton Sat 1st April
Steve Shovlar replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Seriously? I think Rye are a better team than Wolves and should see them off with relative ease on Saturday. Wolves were completely inept last night. I know Rye is a similare size to Monmore but you should have more faith. -
You misheard.

After dispatching Wolves in the ES, next Wednesday brings a much tougher test to Wimborne Road with the Belle Vue Aces in the first round of the Knock Out Cup, with the second leg 48 hours later. Poole will be welcoming Lewis Kerr into the team on a baptism of fire. Belle Vue have put together a good team, but may suffer the same problems which affected Wolves. A pair of youngsters at reserve with zero experience at this level. While they might quickly get dialled in at NSS, both might find the going tough away from home. It could be very close over the two legs. Thoughts?

Klindt showed passing ability last night to blast around a few Wolves riders. As for Thorsell, the difference in his riding last night to Monday was chalk and cheese. On Monday he was like a world champion, weaving in and out and passing for fun. Ended up 50 metres clear by the end of the race. Last night, well.......a young lad by the name of James Shanes, who had never ridden a single heat at Wimborne Road before this meeting, outgated and outrode Thorsell to see him off. A complete shock to be honest but shows Thorsell has a lot to learn. Its OK being king of your own back yard but if you want to be classed as a top rider, this should not have happened. Personally, I think Thorsell has a lot more in him and will turn out to be a very good rider in years to come. But he has to work on his away form.

Well that clearly shows the gulf in the quality between the two teams. Poole could easily have had 60 points tonight. Wolves were just completely and utterly blown away and never looked like a team who could defend their first leg lead, even after a heat 1 5-1. From then on it was a rout with Wolves riders fighting over the scraps. For Poole. KK said in the post meeting interview his first bike was spinning upso he switched to his second bike which was better. Rode well. 3/5 Holder got his first race win and was a solid team rider. Fought well in one heat to defend his position. 3.5/5 Kurtz was fast and really going for it. Ran a last when the track had completely slickened off but it was all over by then anyway. Good stuff. 4/5 Andersen was very hard and agressive with some Tomasz Gollob style dive bombs off the third bend, very good stuff. 4/5 Klindt just blew away most of the opposition. Went through the tapes when his cable fell apart and said in the interview he didn't feel safe trying to pass Greaves so sat safe. 4.5/5 James Shanes. What a home debut. Said he couldn't believe it in the post meeting interview but it was fully deserved. He made some cracking gates, rode fast and aggressively and held off Thorsell with relative ease by chosing the right lines and blocking. Might not repeat this anytime soon but the lad has ability on a bike. MOTM. 5/5. For Wolves. Lindgren started and ended with a win but didn't do much in between. 2.5/5 Howarth started well with a paid win but that was about it. 1.5/5 Skornicki looked very poor. Either not fit or just not on it anymore. Had a second but that was about it. 1/5 Thorsell was the opposite of Monday where he was unbeatable. Beaten by a young junior making his debut. One heat win in heat 14 when it was all over. 2.5/5 Masters. Pretty poor all night and not close to winning a race. Outfought. 1.5/5 Clegg was not close to beating a Poole rider. Looks out of his depth. Beat Greaves in heat 2 and gifted his other point. 0/5 Greaves. Same as Clegg, except he did manage to beat Klindt who had gone through the tapes. Chopped up Klindt twice and Klindt then decided to be sensible and stay clear. Finger wagging after the race. 0.5/5 Wolves have made a howler in not having a scoring reserve. They are stuck with them and they will never score enough for one of the top five to drop down. Whist it is only a matter of time before Klindt moves up, he will be replaced by Kerr, who will still be a very decent reserve compared to who he will have to beat. Whether Shanes continues to score we will have to wait and see but tonight Poole fans were treated to one heck of a debut. As for the track, no spongy bends but got dusty and could have been watered a lot more. Plenty of passing though.

Stuffing them out of sight. Wolves are complete pants. And I say this at the interval. Out fought, outgunned, no answer. What a debut. And playing to the grandstand after his heats. Saw off Thorsell with some brilliant riding. A smoky bike though! Won't be long before a Championship club come knocking.

From Bournemouth Echo. PIRATES chief Matt Ford has challenged Lewis Kerr to give him a selection headache after completing the signing of the British flier on an initial month-long deal. Ford was forced to act by the absence of Kyle Newman, who sustained potentially long-term shoulder injuries in Friday's abandoned Darcy Ward Invitational. With the SGB Premiership season just 10 days away, the Poole promoter was delighted to secure the services of Norfolk-born Kerr, who has ridden for Lakeside and King's Lynn in the top flight. Ford told the Daily Echo: "Lewis's contract is a minimum of 28 days but I have made it clear to him that we will review the situation with Kyle and the team-building situation. "At times, riders may step up to the plate and make it very awkward for you to leave them out and that's for Lewis to prove. "He is a confident lad and I would urge everyone to get behind him. He's quick from the gate and is tough to beat. "This move has not come with the circumstances I wanted and it was doubly upsetting being this early in the season. But you have to deal with what's thrown at you." The 27-year-old Kerr has linked up with the Wimborne Road club on a 5.98 average and is due to make his debut in the Knockout Cup first-leg clash with visitors Belle Vue a week today. The flashpoint of his career came in the Premier League Fours at Peterborough in 2015 when he sustained severe head injuries in a horrifying crash. Having been airlifted to hospital, Kerr was placed in an induced coma for five days. Two years on, Ford revealed he felt Kerr had the potential to produce the best form of his career in Pirates leathers. Ford added: "A couple of years ago, Lewis was on the verge of becoming a top rider but suffered multiple injuries. "It has been steady progress back. He did fairly well for Lakeside last year but the truth is I have always felt he has got more in him. "He contacted me on at least a dozen occasions out of season and sometimes a rider makes himself so available to you and is so desperate to ride for you, that you do feel that should anything occur, they would be a very adequate replacement."
-
Worse case scenario is the whole season. Likely to be months. Disastrous for him, the fans and club to be honest. I think most people, including Kyle were expecting to see a huge stride forward in his career. Lets hope for a speedy recovery and he will be back racing this season.

Forecast is for a dry day tomorrow if overcast. The track should have nicely recovered from the pounding it received last week and we should hopefully see Poole lift the first trophy of the season. I guess its going to have to be r/r for Kyle again. Be interesting to see if Wolves gamble with Skornicki or stick with r/r who should get them extra points with Masters and Howarth able to take rides. With KK likely to score double figures, backed up with Andersen, and Klindt at reserve able to take 7 rides, we should be able to pull back the deficit. James Shanes has yet to do one single lap at Wimborne Road so I hope there's a behind closed doors session for the lad tomorrow afternoon. Only 12 quid to get in tomorrow as well. Expect a few coaches coming down from Wolverhampton in the hope their team defends their lead?
