Poole V Coventry Ela. 20/04/16

We beat Lakeside by a decent score a couple of weeks ago, but the racing was excellent. The scoreline often doesnt reflect the quality of racing. -

And where are they from? Coventry? If so its more to do with the crappy team you have than anything else. -

Drop in crowd? There's been no drop in the crowd size at Poole as the team is is an exciting mix of racers and the racing so far this season has been good. Winning = big crowds. You will always get your regulars/season ticket holders, then your pick and choosers, then your playoff only fans. Weather and holiday makers play a part in crowd sizes but its been good so far and I would expect another good crowd on Wednesday if the weather is decent enough. Then I will reassess my prediction to a 12 point win. -

Well this has been a brilliant meeting. Though Lesno would be outclassed but they drew a lead before being tied up with two to go. Large crowd as well. -

Kk should be good for 12 Harris 10 Garrity 5 Reserves 3 King 6 Guest 4 -
Next Wednesday see the second time these two clubs meet this season. Pirates came out on top first time around but the Coventry riders have had a feel of the track now and should be more dialled in. Garrity is starting to score, KK and Harris are certainly firing on all cylinders and Bates has just won the British U21 championship. The loss of the young Pole is a setback but a guest who is a track specialist could help. With Watty struggling with personal issues. This meeting could be a lot closer than the ES. In my opinion a 6 point Poole win, with some very good racing. The reserves to make the difference. Thoughts?

Bt and Sky are paying billions for the football. Why on earth didnt they meet up for a pint in a back street pub and say you have that, we have this and we wont bid more than a few million quid a season between us. Result? Footballers on 200,000 a week can go elsewhere, the premier league will survive and in an ideal world subscriptions would reduce.(yer right) -

Swindon riders have been complaining about bends three and four. Getting their practice in for their trip to Belle Vue? -

You gotta be kidding me. Poole fans, the same as any club, want to see their team win. If its a big margin so what? We beat Lakeside last week by a big score but the racing was great. Success = more fans and Matt ford is well aware of that. -

Looks like the red red robbin is going to be bob bob bobbin along at the foot of the table. -
So if they have cancelled a meeting on the 24th, what chance the big Sky meeting against Poole being on shortly after this date? It would be a fantastic launch meeting so surely the BV promotion would be moving hell and high water to make sure this was on, no? When Poole town came back to Wimborne Road in the early 90's, Mervyn Stewksbury managed to get a brand new track laid in two weeks around the enlarged football pitch.

RP, I really wouldnt bother to post on this thread. Its just full of the usual Poole and Matt Ford haters and whatever you say and do will only set off another page a viterole. Best thing to do is not post on this thread. Let all those conspiracy theorists gob off and let them think what they like. The only victory they shall have is on this thread while the team will do their talking on the track. And really thats the only place it matters. -

Anyway thats this weeks bitch fest about Poole and Matt Ford over and done with. There will be some other post next week which will start the usual suspects off again searching through the archives of the local rag to find something else to spew on about for a dozen or so pages. What can we expect next week? Matt Ford ate a baby? -
Matt Ford - No Sympathy
Steve Shovlar replied to damosuzuki's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It was Mike Golding who told me what happened. I was told Norrie Allen wouldn't budge one iota and Matt just had enough because it was going nowhere and he wasn't prepared to pay the huge increase Allen was demanding. I doubt there wasn't a single Poole fan who wasn't gutted at the outcome. Its clear where the blame lies in all this. Mark Loram should have sat down with Norrie Allen before the bargaining stared and said, get the best deal you can but don't jeapodise my team berth. Instead Allen went in there and without the slightest bit of flexibility promptly put Matt Ford in a position that left no manoeuvrability. If, after hearing nothing from Matt Ford after a couple of days, why didn't he right him and try to sort something out? If it meant backing down so be it. Instead he lost his place and ended up at Peterborough on probably a lot less money than he was on before. From then on his career went downhill. Matt Ford is shrewd but he would have wanted Loram back, especially as he was World Champion and the extra sponsorship that would have brought to the club. -

Mark Loram was not treated badly by Poole. I remember having a conversation at the time with someone in the know* and was told that Norrie Allen asked for a massive pay rise which Matt Ford refusd to pay. Matt then tried to negociate a price which was fair as Mark was wold champion, but Norrie Allen refused to budge an inch. I remembering Matt Ford saying, what could he do when the other side is being completely inflexible? He said at the time he was where he was and Allen was where he was and normally a deal could be done somewhere in the middle but Allen refused. So Matt signed Trick instead on a LOWER price than Mark. I was gutted as were most Poole fans at the time. The losers were the fans plus Loram and Allen. Loram should have told Allen to be more flexible. *He was in the room. -
Get down to Poole Gresham and enjoy proper speedway in front of a large friendly crowd. Plenty of noise, good racing and a knowledgeable crowd means you will have a very entertaining evening and £17 well spent.

Well this thread was overdue. We normally get one of these threads every so often but its been a while this time. The same old crap spouted by the usual suspects bringing up exactly the same old crap every time. Matt Ford...,booo hisss. Dear oh dear. Some on here moaning about Poole's winning mentality. Ridiculous moan. Its a sport. Others moaning the Poole are too strong.. What's Ford going to do? Purposely build a weak team so that someone else can win? Does anyone actually believe Trump and Sandhu were good for the sport, seriously? Trump got exactly what he deserved, a ban, and Sandhu is just counting the clock so he can close down a club to build houses. Many may not like Matt Ford but he runs the most successful club in the country, has many sponsors and does his job very well. Someone earlier in the thread said he was born with a silver spoon and it all came to him. No. He was a Wella hair rep and ran a fancy dress shop. He had to beg the bank for a loan to buy half the club and Mervyn let him buy it bit by bit from what I remember. I think the poster than started going on about the nasty tories and it got boring. He is probably outside Downing Street right now with a plakard shouting Cameron out. As it is Pooles dominance will not be challenged until another promoter really steps up to the plate to challenge, rather than just thinking of survival. I hope this season we are challenged hard. And you can be sure that Poole 2017 will also be a great looking side. Frost realised Trump wasnt all he pretended to be. In thenend Trump got rightly booted out and lost his licence. He tok his club beyond the brink. -
