Coventry V Poole El Friday 22nd April 2016
Steve Shovlar replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Really dont inderstand the pessimism from some of the Coventry fans. Lakeside saw us off so why can't Coventry? Rather than get out the white hanky you should be cheering on your side. Did Swindon fans think they could beat one of the favourites last night? They did it convincingly. Same could happen tonight, though I hope not. not a lot but his first ever visit. -

Sitting in the Brandon car park eith a few spots of rain on the windscreen. Nothing much and hopefully it wont be bad. The rain is meant to be pushing away south later. Gutted we are missing Kurtz. He was excellent on Wednesday and to have to cover him with Buck and the reserves weakens us somewhat. Still think this us going to be very close, with the loss of Brady swinging the pedulum back towards Coventry. -

One would have thought if the BV management were going after the contractors for compensation, they would wait until everything is rectified before upsetting the boat and causing further delays. You wouldnt walk up to a builde in your house who was putting on a new roof and tell him you are suing him when the roof was off. -

One of those days when there is rain about but I have to make the trip regardless as I have a delivery to make in Burton on Trent. Leave a couple of hours earlier, then the item is delivered safely and then onto the speedway. Hope the rain in the south west doesn't push up too far. Showers in the Coventry area around 4 pm. Hoping for a Poole win but 32-58 is never going to happen. Going to be a close meeting. -
So instead of heading up the M6 to Manchester I will have the arduous and extra long boring journey to Kings Lynn next Wednesday. Still, its meant to be the best race track in the country so I hope to see riders swapping places every lap and a 1-5 in the last heat to bring home the four points. If we dont have that Matts power over all clbs must be waining.

During the course of the remedial works being carried out by the stadium contractors to Turns Three and Four, further defects have been exposed which require further attention and this has extended the work program. Belle Vue Speedway have therefore confirmed that their National League fixture against Coventry, which they were hoping to stage on Sunday April 24th, together with the Elite League meeting Belle Vue v Poole scheduled for Wednesday 27th April will not take place. These meeting will be resheduled. Further details will follow. Thursday 21st April 2016 What an utter joke. -

They can put down a complete track in Cardiff in approximately 4 days. They cant put down a bend at Belle Vue in 4 weeks? What a complete joke if true. -
Matt Ford does not attend the AGM. Poole have a representative their in Gordon Pairman.

Well here we go. The clash of the titans and a great way to finally get racing underway at The National Stadium. I should imagine the stadium full signs will be put out and with Sky in attendance, it should be a thriller for everyone. Now that Belle Vue have had an extra month to sort out a bend, more than enough time, lets just hope the weather is set fair for travelling fans and those sitting in their armchairs. A hard one to predict but I think Pirates are more than capable of coming away with a victory. Thoughts?

BBC is showing tomorrow as dry in Coventry though overcast all day. Looking forward to the meeting tomorrow night. Coventry will come out with all guns blazing to seek revenge after last nights thrashing. The thing is, will it be bazookas or a gun filled with blanks? It will certainly be close. KK and Harris, and King to an extent, will be a different kettle of fish around Brandon. Garrity and the reserves will be battling as well so I don't expect there to be much in it. Just as close as the ES there last month. 4 points in it. -

With the history between the two clubs Poole fans were lapping it up. As you say would Arsenal fans like a 1-0 over Spurs or a 6-0? -

Well just got back and I have to say first and foremost that the track was poor. Completely different from 14 days ago when it produced super racing. Tonight saw heatne and KK post the fastest time in four years. Within 5 heats it was cle.ar it had been underwatered and by heat 9 there were billowing clouds of dust making the eyes sting. At the interval the hoses came out but it was a little too little too late. Although having said that some of the best races were after the interval with some good passing from both teams, well Poole and Harris. Coventry actually started well and took a decent lead. With no grip out wideriders like Buckowski weretrying and failing to go around the outside. But then it all changed, Poole stepped up a gear and left Coventry for dead. Only Harris, and the trying Josh Bates putting up any kind of resistance. For Poole. Holder was good but not at his best. Kurtz was excellent after his first ride when he was left for dead. Watt minus his beard rode well after his. First ride. Buckowski was excellent value. Hans showed experience and was very good. Newman had a duff first ride then got better. Race of the night in heat 12. Ellis was perfect. A clean max with some good pasing. Seems to love the Poole track. For Coventry. Kk started like a rocket, fell in his next then didn't want to know. Garrity is a reserve in a top fiveberth but battled. King. Was he there? Shocking non threat. Harris was good and battled as expected. Sarjeant rolled twice and was caught both times. Not an EL standard reserve. Bates battled for his points all night. Can't fault him for his efforts. Much easier win than expected. KK was clearly affected by his fall. King failed to show. Looking forward to the return on Friday. -

Track has been poor but racing is better after interval. Bates has tried his heart out but cant hold off rampaging Pirates. -

I agree with everyone who says the track is bad. Underwatered, dusty as hell. Worst it has been they are now on track with hoses but too little too late. Coventry have just been bashed for six (5-1's in a row) I hear there are some bery bitter Coventry fans on bend one blaming Matt Ford for Sarjeants roller and subsequent call back. They need to realise they are being outclassed. -
Could Woffy Be Making An El Return?
Steve Shovlar replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Stop being a silly and realise other people have different opinions to yours. I respect people who can discuss and disagree but not morons who think they are right and if you think different you are a fool. This is the problem you constantly have. You fail to understand a different opinion to yours is just as valid. You say you got 23 likes over a post. I got 18. So 55/45% in your favour. Thats not just a few saying Woffinden is letting his British fans down. I am not getting into a slagging maych with you because I am way above that level. I will just say have some respect for posters with a different opinion to your own. Just because we support the same club doesnt mean we have the same views. Nothing wrong in that. I feel strongly because he is letting his British fans down. If you think its fine to snub his home country then fair enough. Personally I think it stinks. -

Better warn you now not to start a fight with me again. Don't call me a fool for having a different opinion. And by the way my post on page one has also received large support. 18 likes. I stick by saying Woffinden has let down his British fans by refusing to ride here. -

Both harris and kk excluded in heat 6. 5-0 coming up. Watt actually put kk under pressure and kk lost it. Thought it would be anailed on 1-5 before the race. Seen three Cov fans. I am just making a few comments not giving out any heat details as such. -

Track tonight is very slick and from the gate. Fast times. Two seconds faster compared to two weeks ago. Poole riders trying lines but no grip and going backwards at the mo. -
