Leicester V Swindon 4/6/16
Steve Shovlar replied to stevethelion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So Tungate was only injured for Swindon at Leicester, just as I thought. The points gained from hid rr rides should be deducted from the scoreline. Only fair course of action. -

Me and Rob also. More by luck than judgement though as the back straight had sold out. It was either west stand or expensive grandstand seats. If you are considering going better get a ticket there can't be many left by now. -

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
Steve Shovlar replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I would just like to make one thing clear. I am no Tai hater. I wish him luck in the gps and when he rides for TeamGB. My issue is not the person himself but his refusal to support British Speedway in any way, shape or form. -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
Steve Shovlar replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It would make no difference. I beleive he should be riding here full stop. To choose foreign leagues over the UK is just plain wrong. I can understand riding in Poland. Less so in Sweden but other top riders manage three leagues without issue. If he is tired, then drop Sweden. As a Brit he is letting down British fans. -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Absolutely. It seems Gavan's posts are fact and true and everyones elses opinion is trolling. A few days ago he said he was speaking for everyone.mhe wasnt speaking for me and never will. A shame he can't debate. Everyone has their own opinion, some think crapping on the uk scene is fine while others think it a disgrace. See, that's my opinion. Others will disagree and that's their perogative. I took no joy in writing that post. I don't dispise Woffinden or anything like that. Just believe he has let his home country down very badly. Surprised others can't see that but I don't revert to childish name calling. So you have a different opinion to me, but rather than counter my post with some constructive debate, you attack the poster calling me an imbecile, moron and a troll. I am neither of those things and have an opinion just like everyone else. To try and slur me by saying I know nothing about the sport is also false as you well know. It certainly is and makes the poster look like they are incapable of realising there are other people out there who don't have the same opinion. -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

The British Final is a farce simply because Woffinden couldnt be arsed to ride. Too tired poor little mite. It makes a mockery of the event and reduces the crowd considerably. But Woofinden doesnt care. He doesnt care for British speedway full stop. It doesnt matter that British speedway gave him the opportunity to learn his trade. He has already stuck his middle finger up at league racing. Hell to all the fans from Wolverhampton that cheered him on. Now he has wrecked the British Final but not being bothered to ride. Yet all the apologists are out in force posting his schedule, which looks the same as the majority of the sports top riders. And lighter than nki, Jonsson, Holder and Zagar. Personally the crowd for the swc wont be affected as most of the tickets have now sold anyway. I would drop him from TeamGB. We owe him nothing. Let him take a holiday to give him the opportunity to get over his tiredness. He has disrespected British Speedway and for the life of me I struggle to understand why some people are still supporting him. The most unpopular British World Champion ever? We are not going to win anyway so give the spot to a youngster. -

Threat To The Elite League
Steve Shovlar replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The edr is one of the best ideas to come out of the bspa in a while. Trouble is they have completely messed it up this season with edr to heat leader. If the promotions are talking about getting rid thats wrong imo. Keep edr at 6 and 7 but change the heat format so they get some tougher rides. But not against heat leaders. -

Threat To The Elite League
Steve Shovlar replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was I said earlier, the EL cannot be dictated to be the PL. There must always be a league in the UK that has top riders. Whilst there are not too many at the moment, that could change. Following a PL model would be suicide for EL clubs whose fans want to see the best on offer, even if many stars are missing. Where would progression happen if there was not the opportunity to race against the best in the sport? What would happen to riders with averages over 6? Out of work? Would we all witness heats where riders are trying to finish at the back so they get below 6? Dont laugh it could happen. Swedish Speedway isnt that much stronger than British. Yes they have stronger teams but judging by the crowds they are not packing them in. Watching every Tuesday shows crowds similar or perhaps slightly bigger to here. But the outlay for the riders must be much higher. Take the opportunity to ride el on a fixed night or two per week, perhaps Wednesday and Thursday, could see top stars heading back. Matt Ford is asking fans what they want. More meetings, absolutely. But having a weaker team on nights when Its not an el fixture will not be supported, as has been proved in the past. Call the agm early. Get the rules mapped out well in advance and put them out to the fans to discuss and mull over. Stupid mistakes like the edr could be avoided. Fans of the sport are just as wise as the promoters and can pick up on likely problems, especially as there are many more of us than the couple of dozen promotions. -
Threat To The Elite League

We absolutely dont want to lose the el. Pl racing is ok but not el. Where would the top riders go who have averages over 6? Holder v Jake Allen? Nki v Skidmore? The bspa rules state that if the el becomes untenable the leagues will merge and then reform with an upper and lower league. Without a top league riders cannot progress meaning no developement of British riders. -
No we are not but Matt Ford is asking for change so that is fairer to all edr riders. Don't critisize Matt Ford for asking fir the change all fans want to see. Lets see it implemented for theB fixtures to givean even playing field.

Thanks for the advice. Just driving up leaving at about 6 am is a real pain on. Bank holiday. 10 hour drive up and back or 50 mins each way on a plane. -

As for Murray, is there a more bland, dull and boring sportsman on the planet? Did anyone really care that he lost yesterday? He still got about a million quid. A few Strawberry eaters at Wimbledon and over hype on the bbc, but really no one really cares Murray wins or not. -

I am happy for him to win. But still stick to my opinion that what he has done is totally wrong. -

Sods law when Poole ride the A fixture it will be a Monday night meeting meaning we will only bring up a handfull. For the bank holiday meeting a few of us are looking into flying up from Southampton to Manchester. How easy would it be to get from Manchester airport to the track? How far is it? Think the B fixture is afternoon meeting meaning we could fly up, watch the meeting then head back to the airport for an evening return. -
The 2016 Speedway Best Pairs Cup
Steve Shovlar replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
He was probably too tired to race anyway. Got a hectic day today doing 5 minutes of racing so no point wasting energy. Meeting was pretty good but utterly meaningless. The celebrations by the winners seemed completely over the top for what is no more than a corporate event for invited guests. Still, the riders had to look like it meant something for their sponsors. If it was the speedway FIM best pairs World Final it would have had meaning. It shows what some riders thought whenPepe couldnt be bothered to ride when it mattered. -

But clearly his so called injury wasnt enough to stop him riding all his heats last night, so it follows that he was fit to ride tonight. But Rosco had already said he was injured on Thursday and would be out. -

When you consider the millions of people that live in the area, they should have crowds far bigger than most other clubs.
