Why Do Speedway Bikes Run on Methanol?

Was it one of the Boococks, perhaps Nigel, that was testing out a BSA B50 engine (500cc) in a speedway bike. -
Why Do Speedway Bikes Run on Methanol?

Back in the 70’s I think Crewe had Saturday morning sessions for grass track bikes. Cheshire was a good area for grass meetings and by holding open sessions Crewe were no doubt benefitting from the potential. Maybe how Barry Meeks came to be riding for them, he was good on grass. -

If the rule is that a W card for a gp has to be riding under the flag of the host nation that is fine with me. …………. Until one nation has multi gps in a year. Then that nation should only have one gp where the rule applies. For the other gps in that country a rider from any other nation can be selected. That spreads the privilege around a bit. -
Maksym Drabik suspended for 2021
OveFundinFan replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Whatever the doctor was doing, Drabik took into his body, he should have been aware, his body is his responsibility. We can all say Yes or No. In the meantime his peers, Smektala, Robert Lambert and Kubera are getting much needed experience. -

What a mess he has made of his career. I presume non of this affects his under 21 world championship he won. -
It really a fan of Marketa stadium and Friday evening/Sunday afternoon hasn’t changed anything. It because it’s a GP and the riders will give it everything that saves the event being a complete non event. Some of the racing was sensational, most of it pretty much standard, bordering boring. It seems no one has a super fast engine. Madsen , Freddie and Emil usually fly when in the lead. Just pretty standard over the two meetings. Ok, Zmarzlik pulled out a big lead in one race, so did Laguta and Janowski. Perhaps with all the good tuners about the standard of tuning is equalising, so negating it. Still not too sure about this points system. Already seems a big lead between 1st and 2nd and that’s just after two meetings. It is what it is, suppose will get used to it.

It will be interesting to see how crowds are affected by “freedom day”. Wife has been shopping this morning to 2 super stores. Virtually all shoppers wearing masks, and all store staff were. She noticed majority of people still staying a safe distance apart. Seems some folks not rushing to be part of 50,000 people getting COVID symptoms each day, and growing.

With some weekends having 2 championship rounds last year it was a random draw. Presume it will be same again. -

Be good if Chugunov, wc at Wroclaw, could repeat of better his efforts of last year, he did really well. 7 points in the first round on Friday, then got to semis on the Sat second round. -
If Madsen wins and then finishes in top 6 in GP's dies 2nd place in Euros get the place.?? I hope Madsen wins, thats gets him into GP 2022, means he can relax and enjoy his racing and hopefully win 2021 WOrld Champ. Make up for the year he come 2nd (2019) when he had no fuel in his tank in one of the races, got 0 race points, yet lost championship by 2 to Zmarzlik

I was supporting WayToGo, whats wrong with that. He has a health problem he is managing and it good to give support, we all need support at times. Not everyone listens to what you and your maties spout. WTGo has health problems that he is trying to manage, he mentioned it on this thread, so I try to give him some support, I dont see you or the others giving anyone any support your only those who think as you do, -

As they numbers contacting COVID and admitted to hospital increases, currently about 28,000 each day, and thoughts are could increase to 50,000 per week and more, those who have had 2 jabs do not seem to be getting severe COVID, but it is expected the number of long COVID sufferers, which seems nasty, will increase. Deaths will increase, unfortunately, but not to high figures as in the past. So taking precautions, is taking responsibility into our own hands and acting sensibly. I hope there are not too many who think all defences down because the government says we can, COVID is not listening to governments or anybody else. Learning to live with it means learning to manage to coexist with it. -

WtoG….. the like is for you reference to health problems and your reason not to go. Many think come July 17 the terraces will be packed. They may well be but it’s certain there are many like yourself with health problems who won’t go because of the current situation which will be made worse for many come July 17. In the late 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and up got early 80’s I was an avid BV fan, every Saturday night during the season. Drifted away, didn’t see much of the Sky tv racing, but came back in 2013 by going to Cardiff, and in 2014 and 2015. Only been to 2 live meetings other then Cardiff, the World Team Championship 2016 at BV and late 2019 to watch the Colts thrash Mildenhall if I remember correctly. I pay BT to watch speedway gp’s and MotoGP’s on tv/tablet plus whatever other motor sports that take my fancy and that’s it. I would be very cautious at going to any stadium meeting at the moment, seems like too many supporters just dying to get together in groups chatting etc because “that’s what speedway supporters do”, yes maybe when it’s safe to do so but just because the government is relaxing rules doesn’t mean to say COVID has agreed. -
I not mentioned Glasgow speedway at all. I mentioned Scotland as a whole, and said probably Glasgow is one of the worst areas in Scotland, and actually it is.

But her citizens are proving more irresponsible, thus spreading it.

Just heard a news snippet this morning that one of the very worse areas for COVID in Europe is Scotland. Says a lot, and probably Glasgow is one of the worse areas in Scotland.
