You probably right, seems most riders like the track with its many lines for over/under taking.

Remember, Ian, Woffy wanted to train GB youngsters in GB but was told to go away. Well, he is doing that in Poland but on a one to one basis. He took Robert Lambert under his wing, taught him on machine prep, training the body, nutrients etc and look at Rob now where he is. And he doing the same with Dan. Lent Dan his bikes or engines tail end of last year, this years started off more then fine for Dan. If he has been sticking to fitness plan and nutrition plan that’s probably Dan looks a man on the machine rather then a boy.

Hasnt it been past experience that where stock cars are involved speedway take second best. If that is the case, would it be a good move.

The question YOU raised - why the need for a double header in the first place? Hardly any speedway last year, so not much monetary turnover for the promotors, hardly any profit, if any. So, to give value for money to supporters, and to maximise profit from turnover, the Leicester promotor decided on a double header, not at double the price of a meeting, but, to maximise profit. As Crescent Girl said a double header saves money in so many ways for the promotor, and gives value for money for the spectator - it’s a win-win situation, and potentially gives a club a life line during these difficult times which are neither promotors nor spectators doing. Come the time no speedway in Leicester the very same people moaning now will be moaning then.

My only live meeting of 2019 was to Belle Vue to watch a NDL match between BV v Mildenhall. Cost £10, only grandstand seats available but it was really good to see developing youngsters giving it a go. Well worth the money supporting “tomorrow’s” Premiership riders. £26 for two meetings, yes, I would have gone for that.

As long as you know where the image is on your computer and the image is not too large there should be no problem Steve. I always use the "choose files" option, this takes me to my computer and just go to the place and file I want. The size of the file (picture) is important, too large and it wont load.

What you could do Singy13, is just load a couple or three at a time, making multiple posts, thus not exceeding .24mb limit on each occurrence.

Your photos could well be too high resolution. Lots of people set camera to high resolution thinking it makes better photo viewing. For computer viewing I found low res 640x480 is fine. There. Is a max total size of .24mb on uploading photos, you probably exceeding that.

Steve, Maybe we all COVID tired. I managed last summer very well as I got busy in the garden, but winter was long even though I have other interests to keep me occupied.

Further to my above post, Ove Fundin is a real nice guy. About 10 years ago I emailed him, didn’t get a reply for ages, getting on for a year maybe, then I got a reply and he apologised for being forgetful. He keeps himself busy, walking, cycling. I mentioned to him our family were very friendly with Bob Duckworth, BV rider late 50’s/60’s. I read Ove tried to keep in touch with riders but he hadn’t Bobs email, so I gave it him. He said he liked Bob, but perhaps he was too nice to be a top rider. And that was right, Bob was another gentleman, but to be top rider you have to be ruthless on the track. Bob wasn’t, Ove was, and that perhaps why Peter Craven, as good as he was, wasn’t quite in Oves league over his career.

I think Ove had a lot of respect for Peter, more so then any others of the top 5. Whilst Peter was at BV I was a fan of him. I only saw OF and PC race together at BV or Wembley world final. Peter was always a clean rider, a gentleman in general, and when they rode together I never saw Ove try anything dirty toward Peter. Their match races at BV were always exciting and close, so very close at times, but total trust in each over, that was clear. Such a shame the sport lost Peter whilst still youngish, a good few years at the top still in him. He was always a great sport, very approachable with fans, and ready to have a chat with them. Of the two, Ove was the most consistent, you can see that just in his record in the world championship, that’s why he was called Mr Perpetual Motion. Peter still ranks with me highly in the all time greats though.

I think to own a stadium you need a money tree, if Berwick council own the stadium and supporters hold the lease, the supporters have an affordable venture. How many millions would 10 years at Odsal cost do you think. 2000 spectators at £20 each isn’t making much profit per meeting.

I would like to read Dave Mortons book - anyone want to sell or swop for either 1) Ivan Mauger-The Man Behind The Myth or 2) Barry Briggs-Wembley and Beyond, My Incredible Journey (and epic 486 pages). For me to buy the book must be in good condition. Swops would need to be in as good condition as mine - which are very good. Barry Briggs is an ex-library book and has protective cover. No folded corners in either. Ivan Mauger book has some great colour glossy photos.

I found Ove Fundin Speedway Superstar a great read, also Wiggy - Simon Wigg in his own words, and Chris Morton - Until The Can Ran Out.

Not that it really matters, but I can see 4 wearing masks in that photo. One a couple rows back and to the right of the guy in red you circled, then another guy a row further back and to the right of the guy I just mentioned. re councils having a say. Remember the tiers the government introduced last year, councils complained that they should have a say as they are closer to the ground and knew more about circumstances. I would think that’s where council involvement stems from.

I don’t think Boris wants to move June 21st goal posts, but what he doesn’t want is the Indian variant, and other factors, running through the country. I reckon as the country opens up following May 17th reports from all quarters of England will be centred to the government for analysis, including reports from speedway stadiums. Factors going forward will include, IMO, what work and attitude have stadium management displayed, PLUS, as important, the attitude and compliance of spectators. It’s quiet clear that some spectators are not too concerned over going along with regulations and some will bend the rules, or more, at every opportunity. Sadly, some ardent speedway fans will refrain from attending a live meeting because they are concerned over their health, that they are not fully convinced attending live meeting would be a happy event for them. So if Boris does hold back on the June 21st relaxing, it will be motivated not only on the Indian variant, but also by what is happening in society “today”, including speedway meetings. So, if there is a delay of June 21 relaxing (and I hope there is’nt a delay), remember, what is happening in the country today will have had an effect.
