Rye House V Newcastle Koc Semi 1st Leg
SCB replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Correct. 9.86 and 3.16 in 2005 -
Last year I found that heat leaders scored about 25% less than second strings. No idea what it'll be this year. When I extrapolated it, it still worked quite well. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=80571

The Collapse Of The Pound And The Effect On The El
SCB replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
TBF, I and most brexiters would happily get rid of the House of Lords. And even he Royal family if it come to it. As for work permits, if it sees a load of duff riders banned from the PL so what. But while we're still happy to give Mason Campton 3 seasons of failure in the PL I don't see us issuing work permits that effect too many riders! -
So with the biased race format that served a purpose for two years as it protected the reserves so we could almost see past if flaws as it protected young British riders we now have a whole league of riders on messed up, meaningless averages. So what do we do? As I see it we have the following options.... 1. Ignore it. So what, you win some you lose some. Until the rich clubs sign 7 riders who spent time as a heat leader and the poor club is left with 7 riders who spent most of the season in reserve. 2. Grade riders. Well we tried grading heat leaders in 2016 and we all got upset. How do you grade riders? Averages, meetings as heat leader, feeling? Vote on it? 3.* Take each riders average as a heat leader, second string and reserve and find a conversion between the 3, then give every rider a weighted average. OK until you realise Wolves come to Coventry this year for a meeting with Joonas, Bech and Howarth as heat leaders while Masters was a reserve and Lindgren a second string. So that day did the Coventry heat leaders have an easier job? 4. Something else? Lets hear it! *Provided I can be bothered I plan to do this tonight, I'll post the list so you can all see how it effects riders averages.

How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?
SCB replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Might seem silly to some but ask both of my sisters what puts them off speedway most (having attended most weeks when speedway first returned to Newport) and they'll tell you going to toilet in a shed without any lights. Ladies tend to be quite snobbish about where they go to toilets, unlike us men who in the main don't care! That said, walking through puddles of what could be other people piss is not what you want and at some tracks you just cant be sure that puddle in the bogs isn't exactly that! -
Really? So a number 1 gets heat 13 and 15 against heatleaders yet a reserve gets heat 2 vs both reserve and a number 7 has a reserve in every race he's in! It's still not "fair", it's certainly "fairer" but if a rider averages 10 as a number 1 and 10 as a number 7 then the number 1 is a better rider.

Yeah, because those on drugs stopped/got injured/quit/were sacked when it was announced they were going to do tests!

Belle Vue Vs Wolves, Grand Final 2nd Leg, 5/10/16...
SCB replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
One of the guys I work with watched last nights meeting. He loved it and wants to see more speedway, he's disappointed the season is over apart from a single GP. He also asked what the deal was with Woffinden, which made me wonder, what was the deal with Woffy? Why was he booed? -
Belle Vue Vs Wolves, Grand Final 2nd Leg, 5/10/16...
SCB replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The place? The one that says if you're going to chant, "who are ya" at the current and a multi-World Champion and boo him you have to expect a response. Why else were they doing it otherwise? -
A super speedway rider, a fair speedway rider and an exciting speedway rider. But most importantly an almost universally liked speedway rider. I can't begin to work out the number of heats I have seen PK race over the years but I can tell you now the number of times he's done something I didn't like or annoyed me, zero, none, not even once. From his brilliant cut backs at Wolves to pass many an unsuspecting opponent to seeing him put his bike in just the right place on track for 4 laps to block a much faster opponent PK had pretty much all of it in his repertoire. Any young, aspiring rider could do far worse than model themselves and their careers on that of PKs. I genuinely felt sadness when he was interviewed after the meeting last night and confirmed his retirement from British Speedway. The word legend is thrown around far too much these days but it's quite fitting for PK.

Belle Vue Vs Wolves, Grand Final 2nd Leg, 5/10/16...
SCB replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Erm, he's a double World Champion and 2 time EL winner. I think BV fans need to learn their place. That WAS disrespectful. If anything the Wolves should have been chanting it at BV and their riders, who are they exactly? 23 years without winning a league title and not a single senior World Championship medal between their 7 riders combined! Asking a multi-World Champion, "who are ya" is the sign of an idiot to me! -
I'd take Woffy at Coventry in a heat beat. Never really wanted Ward at Coventry. Both not the nicest of people but Woffy is just a bit petty, never actually done any harm to anyone.

And Hancock is dull! Booing, jeering and a few hand signals is what sport should be about. Nobody died, nobody got injured, so why does it matter? Winding up riders is part of the fun! -
So if it's that good already, imagine how good it will be when someone spends some money on it then. The basic principal with an engine is you can have slow and relatable or fast (powerful) and unreliable. You can't have both, one comes at a cost to the other. At present it's reliability and cheap, but if someone decides to make it more powerful it'll cost more and lose its reliability but they won't care as it'll be winning them races.

If all speedway was as good as that then we'd have sell out crowds every week. Exactly as it should be. Hard racing, riders stropping, bit of handbags and passing galore. Loved it! -

Lindgren on one wheel riding into another riders front wheel. Again. Last time he did that he put Doyle in hospital. -

SCB replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Danny King has had a blinder of a season. Increased his average despite riding as a heat leader all season. Just seems to be a better rider these days, got a bit more about him. As for Kennett, the guy was an 8 point EL rider a few seasons ago, hardly improved has he? -
Zagar averaged 8.03 in 2015 and has averaged 8.04 in 2016. When you consider his home average has dropped from 8.93 to 8 I'd say he's over all had a not too bad year. He's put his average up at every track apart from Lakeside.

SCB replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'd prefer to just try and 5-1 the TR in heat 6 or 7, rather than leave it until the last moment to go mad! Hoping BV get off to a good start just so the tie isn't over by heat 6 or 7. -

Yeah, riding those big tracks is holding him back. Imagine how good he'd be when it mattered if he rode a small track. He's just won the World Under 21 title ffs!! -
