Glad you like it Bavarian. Trevor is still fondly remembered by those of my generation up here in the West of Scotland.

And only two of the six meetings staged at Ashfield have been on Fridays, a really weird start to the season and not one to establish a regular speedway going habit among newbies ... Or indeed regulars.
-
Drew Kemp for both meetings?
-
I\Just checked my call log, I texted my family telling them of the time change at 13.02 yesterday and I wasn't that prompt so the advice was posted shortly after noon.

Thought the FIM paid the club a "rental" for the use of the track but could be wrong, though do clubs pay BSPL to run shared events?
-
Is this more aggressive approach the way ahead or too costly if it goes wrong. Presumably the FIM have the financial clout to withstand a few setbacks but clubs less so.
-
Sounds a plan and we'll leave the problem of a date for the league meeting until another time. Interestingly BSN say that they haven't been given dates by the BSPL for the semis and that the semis aren't part of their schedule, so they have no part in any delays.
-
You've already posted this. Not a problem for Zischke so not a consideration re Ashton.
-
Sorry but that's unlikely as Zischke who is actually riding in the SGP2 meeting is turning out for Workington at Edinburgh tomorrow night. We really need a fixtures secretary to set dates and not let teams defer because of injury etc.
-
Didn't say it had to be at Oxford! At Poole on June 25 ok with you?
-
I was answering MB723's post in which he referred to dates for 2024 so it was 2023 that I was citing.
-
The previous year the finals were run in July. Deferring the semis and the finals like last year could well be stacking up problems and duplication. Poole, Oxford, Redcar and Glasgow are the BSN semifinalists and are all drawn in separate KO Cup quarter finals so there's a more than fair chance they'll be the cup semifinalists too. Indeed Redcar have already won through . These four may well be the playoff four. Talk about deja vu all over again! We really need these finals spread out n different months!
-
And not on June 25 when both clubs have a free Wednesday!
-
So it was published promptly and presumably the date the draw was being made was known by the four semifinals so it was no surprise to them but no action was taken thereafter and a blank Friday has been wasted by Redcar and Glasgow. Even worse should they be paired up in the KO Cup semis, Redcar having already made it through to this stage.
-
The draw was made live during last Fridays stream of the Scunthorpe v Glasgow meeting and paired Glasgow and Redcar along with Poole v Oxford but this doesn't seem to have been published anywhere. Why? Neither Glasgow nor Redcar have a team fixture tomorrow which seemed the obvious time for the Redcar leg given Glasgow have the SGP2 the following night at Ashfield. Anyone know anything about what is happening?

https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/may-2025/the-bl-s-first-season-may-1965 What do you remember about May 1965, a mere 60 years ago! Oxford finally get their tailenders sorted out and begin a title challenge, one that will later get derailed when Ron How gets injured. Charlie Monk, the sensation of the first couple of months of the new BL, gets given the first Golden Helmet challenge. His win in the first leg is due to Briggo having severe engine problems which make it a long night for Poole patrons,

Don't remember you being so understanding when Mildenhall were at Blantyre about a lifetime ago. -
Have Poole jumped too early in making their change. Wouldn't they have been better keeping Marson for the away meetings at Edinburgh and Berwick given his experience on the tricky Armadale circuit.

Dayles medical attention was largely covered by taking the interval much earlier so it was only a minor contributor to the longer time taken to run the meeting. It probably didn't seem so long for you as you had so many cakes etc to eat! -
