  1. I was answering MB723's post in which he referred to dates for 2024 so it was 2023 that I was citing.
  2. The previous year the finals were run in July. Deferring the semis and the finals like last year could well be stacking up problems and duplication. Poole, Oxford, Redcar and Glasgow are the BSN semifinalists and are all drawn in separate KO Cup quarter finals so there's a more than fair chance they'll be the cup semifinalists too. Indeed Redcar have already won through . These four may well be the playoff four. Talk about deja vu all over again! We really need these finals spread out n different months!
  3. And not on June 25 when both clubs have a free Wednesday!
  4. So it was published promptly and presumably the date the draw was being made was known by the four semifinals so it was no surprise to them but no action was taken thereafter and a blank Friday has been wasted by Redcar and Glasgow. Even worse should they be paired up in the KO Cup semis, Redcar having already made it through to this stage.
  5. The draw was made live during last Fridays stream of the Scunthorpe v Glasgow meeting and paired Glasgow and Redcar along with Poole v Oxford but this doesn't seem to have been published anywhere. Why? Neither Glasgow nor Redcar have a team fixture tomorrow which seemed the obvious time for the Redcar leg given Glasgow have the SGP2 the following night at Ashfield. Anyone know anything about what is happening?
  6. https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/may-2025/the-bl-s-first-season-may-1965 What do you remember about May 1965, a mere 60 years ago! Oxford finally get their tailenders sorted out and begin a title challenge, one that will later get derailed when Ron How gets injured. Charlie Monk, the sensation of the first couple of months of the new BL, gets given the first Golden Helmet challenge. His win in the first leg is due to Briggo having severe engine problems which make it a long night for Poole patrons,
  7. https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/may-2025/personal-profiles-from-the-past-no-5 Love his ambition - to get to a World Final and "may be" win it!
  8. Do Berwick have the first call on Borke when the 28 day period is up ?
  9. Don't remember you being so understanding when Mildenhall were at Blantyre about a lifetime ago.
  10. Have Poole jumped too early in making their change. Wouldn't they have been better keeping Marson for the away meetings at Edinburgh and Berwick given his experience on the tricky Armadale circuit.
  11. Charlie Monk's lesser known times in Australia https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/may-2025/charlie-monk-part-3-australian-career
  12. Dayles medical attention was largely covered by taking the interval much earlier so it was only a minor contributor to the longer time taken to run the meeting. It probably didn't seem so long for you as you had so many cakes etc to eat!
  13. May edition will feature May Obituary- Chum Taylor Charlie Monk Part 3 - remembering his Australian career Sixty Years ago the BL's First Season -a look at happenings in May 196 Paisleys Virtual 50th Anniversary Night - how the Lions celebrated their time Personal Profiles from the Past No 5 - Ivan Mauger https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/may-2025
  14. https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/april-2025/long-service-award Shows only Scott Nicholls has/had a longer career than Jimmy.A top man in the Provincial League with Plymouth, New Cross and Exeter and the Falcons captain during the early BL years. Gate one was a bogey at Exeter but he sussed by getting right to the inside close to the grass you were on top of concrete and could make the gate from there.
  15. Oh ye of little faith! - though it will hinge around how Ashton and Leon go. Neither were great last time but improved performances could win us the meeting.
  16. Anyone else surprised at Sweden picking the Edinburgh pair?
  17. That's the date reserved for the KO Cup. Would be riding at Armadale if Edinburgh beat Workington. This meeting is also off and possibly will be rearranged for May 23 when the Comets were due at Armadale in the league. Looks like both BSN and KO Cup competitions are likely to be delayed. Irony is that May 2 is unused.
  18. Our season has barely started and already we've got fixture problems following this cancellation. We've got a blank Friday on May 2 but Berwick are at Edinburgh that night. May 30 is reserved for the KO Cup - at home if v Workington; away if against Edinburgh. If the latter we have two meeting Berwick (BSN) and Edinburgh (KO Cup) to arrange in June - and no blank dates! Trouble ahead.
  19. Presumably the riders get paid at their normal points rate for riding in this heat sonas a ball park it cost an extra £1k last night. Worth it?
  20. Cami Brown rarely picks a rider who has ridden in heat 14 for the nominated heat. Wrong but that's what he often does. Claus Vissing rode at 4 and rarely got the nod regardless of how well he had ridden.
  21. Get a grip and stop panicking. Riding at four and paired with the mercurial Thompson is a hard gig for Flint and scoring up to hide GSA may prove to be a big ask. Perry and Hodder need time but the wisdom of having two 2.00 reserves was always questionable. Boughen is carrying an injury and will be a better rider once he is back to full fitness
  22. What do you remember of the first meetings in the BL? https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/april-2025/the-bl-s-first-season-april
