You do get a lot of firms set up with shadow directors there was the famous story of about 500 plus companies registered at the same london mail box address that all had the same director which was some poor clueless woman who was a cleaner in the Cayman Islands.
-
Its a real shame your lot couldn't get Beau Bailey over as in my opinion good as your two youngsters are the aussie lad is on another level.
-
Poole should walk this league baring injuries they managed to snaffle two out of the three best british youngsters out there both on false two point averages, they have one of the top three riders in the league in Lawson, Zach Cook is going to be destined for bigger things, Kerr is ok engine room rider at this level and Newman is riding way above expectations. Like most not sure about Bowes but if he finish's with an average above four again will probably have done his job. Most leagues in the UK are won by a decent side but more importantly a side that gets someone in on a 2 or 4 point average who really is a 4 or 8 point man, Rushen I think will end up above six and Cairns above 4 if the rest avoid injury its pretty much job done. Unless one of the other sides can get one/two of the really top level young danes/swedes over I can't really look beyond the pirates.

Problem is even if he would come the Artem is another who's only interested half the time as I said before in the perfect world then need Lindgren and Anders Thompson both top level riders who will always put a shift in regarless.
-
No disagreement from me but as ever who do you get in that will be any better given the general lack of interest from any semi decent rider upwards avoiding the UK.

As I said earlier Brum 2025 are Cradley 1985 in comparison, its real shame as it looks like core crowds might have settled on a thousand with a team that could win at home. To be fair not much the fellas running it could do, started late so left with the scraps and nobody half decent wants to ride over here. So there's really no one they can bring in who will make a material difference to the outcome. Sole bright spot is the form of Thomson great to see him stepping it up if he can avoid injury should have a great year ahead for him.
-
Much as I respect Kerr's grit from the terrible injuries he's had down the years we all know he's a million miles away from what they need but your right he will be what they get.
-
That's the issue with starting so late they were left with the scraps , Thompson doing fantastic, Harrison can't expect much due to age, Neils will still give it a go but a decade past his best, leaves you with Batch, Klindt, Zagar and Lidsey all of who if they don't fancy it won't turn up you could maybe get away with having 1 or 2 riders like that in the side but you will really struggle with all four.
-
Agreed fair play to the fella he's really stepped it up this year just a shame he's ploughing a lone furrow with this lot.

Its a shame that Northampton were weak from the get go now loosing two of their better riders is going to pulverise them, the famed promise of help from the other promoters now needs turning on but we all know with the greatest respect to them its going to be a combination of Rambo, Kerr, Sedgeman etc when they so need a real big hitter. Real shame as rumours are tonights crowd pretty decent also so if they could have won most home meetings possibly would be something to build on but the early signs are they are going to make Bimingham 2025 look like Cradley 1985 in comparison.

Great news, re the new people are they speedway related or stadium related as it seems they are providing the financial muscle for things to carry on. There's not many people who are willing to drop six figures regularly on speedway these days (outside of the usual suspect) so my gut feeling is they must be coming in to take a stake in the stadium and help clear the debts ? Would be interested to hear what anyone closer to the situation has to add to it all but great news whatever the actual set up will be moving forward and does this mean that the mooted massive rent increase if speedway carried on alone won't now happen ?
-
I know the feeling think it was 86 when I was following Lynn and we had Bob Schwartz and pretty much six reserves all season, other than the odd time when Mike Lee turned up it still sits with me when we used to be in with a sniff but would enter the last race with Schwartz and Campbell v Neilson and Wigg.

Injuries are becoming more and more of a problem when trying to present even a bit of credibility for the sport when I went late 80's early 90's everything was based around the old british league and national league. Now days with riders competing in up to four different international leagues plus doubling down and more individual/team international competitions plus all the grand prix's the opportunities for injuries are way higher so we are less than a month into the season and some teams are decimated already turned up with guest,. r/r and irr. There really is no answer to this in the UK but it doesn't help from a point of view when selling the sport when teams turn up with half the stated riders missing or trying to build a bond with the local fans.
-
Interesting Mike if you have time post a few of the names who are no longer riding .
-
Spot on where do you go for options, in the perfect world they need someone like Anders Thompson or Lindgren but most likely it would be a toss up between Kerr/Sedgeman.

I think Redcar could be dark horses this year the two youngsters going great guns if they get a fully fit Wright back and could find someone abroad on a false average to replace Jenkins they would take some stopping good to see 4-5 possible teams in the reckoning this year. -

With how Thomsen has stepped it up this year Edinburgh are just a Rushden or Scott away at reserve from having a really good side even allowing for Sedgeman being the Aussie version of Klindt. -
If Rob was in charge of the countries finances rather than Reeves he would have the three trillion deficit paid off in a year just don't expect a penny outside an uber tight budget to be spent.
-
Sadly Iain there seems to have been a lack of interest in solving any of the problems for the last 20 years. UK speedway just doesn't do plan b or c its more lets just wait a couple of months before the start of the season and carry on as is with a few more band aids and try and kick that can a bit further.

Foxes vs Witches, Thursday 30th April
YeOldPitGate replied to paulnolan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Great to hear roughly 3k turned up re the team as you mentioned surgery that brings to one of UK speedways big issues who out there is there who would make a material difference who would come outside of the usual suspects like Kerr etc who wouldn't be much better than what they have. In the ideal world they need an Anders Thompson type rider but as we know 99% of that type of rider just won't come. -
Do you think Doyle will be back great rider with true grit but can't have to many seasons left in him especially with all the bad knocks he's had over the years.

Next time get Woffy along as Picko and Howarth square up I can hear it now Woffy shouting to the crowd "give me an F, give me a U" you know the rest lol. -
The three youngsters are coming good for Redcar they could suprise a few when they get rid of Klindt and get Wright back, re Cluff what happened to young Max James seemed a talent all be it another one who was probably thrown in to fast is he another youngster who has been lost to the sport or could he persuaded back with some additional mentoring on track craft and set up's ?
