Well done Edinburgh, from a bandits perspective well done PK and Kemp. Beyond that I’ve not got much positive to say so I won’t. -

And smith, wood has fairly consistently achieved and often surpassed what he was hired to do (if someone could help him deal with the pressure of being in front he would be way higher up the averages. Smith has had some good performances but, and I’m really not someone to criticise riders because I couldn’t do it. But he just isn’t consistent I think at the risk of being torn a new on. We should have stuck with borke. At least even with the injury was on the up. Smith is a journeyman reserve. The promotion have done an incredible job fixing the main team but we have lost a lot of meetings at the bottom end. -

Glasgow v Berwick Friday 25th July

In fairness the racing at Berwick has been pretty good this year and it hasn’t always been just the home riders that have made excellent overtakes. -

It will also be a big help if Trigger can pick up some points where Hagon couldn’t. I’d also love to see Smith scoring as well as yesterday. And if wood can get his 2 points we should be in a good position. But I agree a lot hinges on how quickly JJ can adapt to the track. -

Going to be fallowing this on proboards. Big ask for Berwick tonight but hopefully they can stay in touch for tomorrow’s return match. I’m very much looking forward to being trackside. Where hopefully the bandits can keep the home record going and possibly even a bonus point. If nothing else it’s always a pleasure to watch Harris and very interesting to see Cairns at Shielfield. Kemp is always fantastic to watch and it’s going to be really interesting to see how Jeppeson goes. All in all lots to look forward too. -

Saturday may be “poor planning” and a “guest fest” but I’m still going to pay my money and sit in the same seat I always do and watch live speedway. It’s not ideal it’s not even close to perfect. It’s what we’ve got. I’d rather be there and watch it than not. I could be way worse, we could all be Birmingham fans or one of the other many now gone clubs. But that’s a different discussion for a different thread. I’m looking forward to two exciting meetings. -

I still can’t find official team announcements from either sides. If someone could point me in the correct direction I’d appreciate it. -

Any updates on either Cook or PK? I see both are missing from the Oxford side. Would be great to have both back this weekend. -

3 riders unable to compete, 1 guest injured, forecast for thunderstorms. The cancellation is not a surprise. As a fan I’d love to see help brought in but where that could come from is beyond me. -

As Plymouth is already in the general vicinity being at Edinburgh today. I guess it gives the Berwick promotion the option to see if the forecast changes. But I’d be very surprised if the meeting happens. -

Forecast for Saturday is rubbish. I would be more shocked if the meeting goes ahead than if it is called off. I hope not a wet track at Shielfield is always entertaining. -

Grahn now guesting for Hume on Saturday. -
It definitely should. Know I’m an absolute bore but there should be no assumptions or guesses on this. I know speedway is worse than the masons for secrets but the SCB should be 100% transparent otherwise how can there be parity in speedway.
-
I think the important part is there should be absolutely no speculation or doubt. If a governing body of any sport imposes sanctions it should be very clearly explained. I have no interest in the now resolved issues at Workington but I am, and think everyone should be interested in clarity from the SCB regarding the points deduction. They should not be allowed to impose sanctions without explanation.
-
Exactly, if a rule has been broken that requires the points deduction. The SCB should be publishing a full statement outlining the rule and breach. Much the same as other forms of professional motorsport.

There was some decent racing but that was a tough watch from a Berwick perspective. -
Is It Finally Time For One League?

I fully agree my 14 year old loves the racing but if we lived equal distance from two tracks the only thing that would sway her loyalty is visibility. I buy the star most weeks not once has she even picked one up. She isn’t fussed about supporting a team but she really enjoys following her favourite riders. And guess who they are, the ones with the biggest social media presence. And the ones who bother to come and interact with the crowd after the meeting. If you want to target a new younger audience that’s how you get them. -

I attended all my clubs home matches and pay £20+ £3.50 for a program I also take my two kids who get free entry. They both get food and a drink and a sweet and more often than not we spend a fiver on raffle tickets. This normal comes to £20-£30. Would I pay £30 to get in? possibly. I may be more fussy about which meetings i attend. Would I be feeding the kids before we head to the track and sticking a bag of sweets and a bottle of juice in their pockets? Definitely. Putting the price up is just going to push people further away imo. -
Workington isn’t my team and I don’t particularly care what the issues are. I am however very pleased to see positive signs with the new company being formed and report of bikes being heard on track. I can’t honestly believe any true speedway fan would want a club to go under, even if it’s for no other reason than it’s one less home meeting for the other championship clubs. Hopefully this is a sign things are being resolved and normal service can resume promptly. I look forward to Workington’s visit to Berwick.
