  1. Bottom line is Cook withheld his services for whatever reason and clearly Ipswich reported that and rightly got a facility. The upshot of that is Riders are then given generally a 7 day suspension or longer depending on circumstances, as the Ipswich press release says his return is subject to SCB approval. A lot of the problem is clubs don’t properly explain riders absences, Pedersen and Palin are missing for the Panthers, nothings been said explaining why, either by Peterborough Plymouth or Scunthorpe. Its doesn’t help but fuel suspicion and rumour on the internet.
  2. When you see the repeated dross that’s served up in the GP,s this year it’s not hard to see why people are giving up on it, if going forward Eurosport put this on subscription channels I can think of a few more that won’t bother including me.
  3. It should be exactly the same bearing in mind Ipswich got a facility, I presume that’s why Cooks return on Thursday is subject to start permission from the SCB.
  4. Which begs the question why isn’t Poole in the Premiership. ?
  5. I am staggered that their is no preview of todays fixture on either the Plymouth website or the Newcastle website. ( just checked both) Pretty much sums up the current state of play.
  6. Your not the only one thinking that, it’s not as though NBJ adds anything.
  7. I doubt he will get another booking for Wolves this year, I would be surprised if he wasn’t on a fixed fee for the match, a lot of riders try that now.
  8. It’s certainly a no brainier who Wolves will pick in the semis, should they finish top
  9. It was only half full this year, how many people will go back to watch that load of crap and it will hardly entice people to go after watching it live last night. Let’s be fair under this new scoring points system the first 12 heats are gate and go with little interest in passing or racing with riders generally accepting positions after the first bend. The fourth and fifth series of qualifying races are generally better as riders make a serious attempt to qualify for the semis. The semis and final are generally very competitive as riders are desperate to make the final and invariably take chances to try and get through and then win the final. I would have thought every point counting and just the winner getting 25 would satisfy both camps, although I don’t have any problem with the old system where every race point counted, it certainly made for better race meetings.
  10. We taped it and watched it from just after 5pm, the most significant thing I remember was when Pearson said about the GP being live from 4pm and stated perhaps some of the viewers wouldn’t have realised that and would have been watching it from the normal time of 6pm. I thought lucky buggers, the first 12 to 16 heats were a total borefest, it was complete shyte of the first order and whoever thought we needed another track that’s impossible to pass on needs bloody sacking. Its not difficult to understand why the Stadium was barely half full, the racing was non existent and even Tatum and Pearson struggled to big it up. I used to spend a lot of time and money going to GP,s abroad but nothing I have seen this year tempts me to return, it’s barely watchable on BT. The new points system isn’t helping and like others I wonder if the camera operators know what they are doing.
  11. It appears they have, I have been told this afternoon we can use any rising star to replace Palin ( should it be needed) Mr Watson was indeed correct.
  12. Hans Andersen used a newly tuned engine in the Peterborough v Wolves match Monday, he looked pretty quick I seem to recall.
  13. It could be worse, like watching Lakeside four times at Lakeside.
  14. More local derbies is the most obvious one, Lynn, Ipswich, Wolves and Sheffield are all easily accessible in an evening whilst even Belle Vue isn’t a vast distance away. Sunday afternoons worked quite well at the Showground but July and August availability was still always an issue, crowds for the other days was always a problem as they generally dipped whenever we had to move away from Sunday afternoons.
  15. Because speedway at the Showground often produces top quality meetings like last night. It’s too good a venue to lose, so allowances are made unfortunately it’s the main bug bear for Panthers and we currently have to live with it.
  16. It’s because of other events at the Showground, they offer speedway very little choice in the way of dates in July and August and it’s been like that for a fair few number of years. Its probably the main drawback that Peterbough Speedway has to live with at the Showground in the current era.
  17. What a cracking match, the racing was top draw, both teams deserve credit for a hard fought match but Panthers produced the goods when it mattered I doubt Wolves will pick Panthers in the semis if they finish top. It will be an interesting end to the season.
