More local derbies is the most obvious one, Lynn, Ipswich, Wolves and Sheffield are all easily accessible in an evening whilst even Belle Vue isn’t a vast distance away. Sunday afternoons worked quite well at the Showground but July and August availability was still always an issue, crowds for the other days was always a problem as they generally dipped whenever we had to move away from Sunday afternoons. -

Because speedway at the Showground often produces top quality meetings like last night. It’s too good a venue to lose, so allowances are made unfortunately it’s the main bug bear for Panthers and we currently have to live with it. -

It’s because of other events at the Showground, they offer speedway very little choice in the way of dates in July and August and it’s been like that for a fair few number of years. Its probably the main drawback that Peterbough Speedway has to live with at the Showground in the current era. -

What a cracking match, the racing was top draw, both teams deserve credit for a hard fought match but Panthers produced the goods when it mattered I doubt Wolves will pick Panthers in the semis if they finish top. It will be an interesting end to the season. -

The league leaders are back in town and this eagerly awaited clash should ensure a good crowd. The weather forecast is good with no forecasted issues and the big news is Danny King guests at no 1 in place of Ulrich Ostergaard. Teams courtesy of the Evening Telegraph are Peterborough : Danny King, Bjarne Pedersen, Michael Palm Toft, Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris, Jordan Palin, Hans Andersen. Wolverhampton : Sam Masters, Broc Nicol, Nick Morris, Luke Becker, Rory Schlein, Ryan Douglas, Leon Flint.

British Final 2021
bigcatdiary replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I am talking U.K. speedway which if you haven’t already have noticed isn’t in the same position as a lot of other sports in this country. Their should be consequences for not riding in your domestic league and that’s my opinion, riders are clear to make their own choices, I don’t have a problem with any British rider riding abroad but I think they should put the U.K. ahead of other countries if circumstances or other rules suggest they are limited to how many leagues they can do. -

It’s all about decisions isn’t it, they both decided not to ride in the U.K this year So I can understand the BSPL not including them in anything they organise, personally I wouldn’t include them in the SON or anything else for which the ACU/SCB get allocated places for, like the World and European Championships etc. British places should go to riders who race in the U.K. -

Simon Lambert has been called up but it’s not been announced yet who has pulled out although Kennett is the likely suspect. -

No one knows, the Plymouth report on last nights match isn’t out yet, 14 hours and counting. Edinburgh didn’t say unfortunately. -
Birmingham vs Leicester 11/08/2021
bigcatdiary replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It’s because the track isn’t prepped right in the first place, water needs to get into the track to prevent dust. Its needs a good soaking the night before a meeting in warm summer conditions and then occasionally watering during the day of the meeting. -

I do hope we don’t lose a rider because of crap track preparation -

Belle Vue v Peterborough 9th August

I meant Sheffield took advantage as Rowe had a GSA of 5.49 at the time. I appreciate they are both 4* Rising Stars, but this was yet another example (if one was needed) where one rule contradicts another with Sheffield taking full advantage of having a rider at reserve who shouldn’t have been as his average was higher than other current Sheffield riders in the 1-5.
