Latest Lynn news suggests he is taking two weeks out to help his shoulder heal
-
So the Sheffield press release on this fixture is woefully out of date, no update on Holder, what exactly is wrong with him, who is riding at no 7 for the Tigers and now RR for Heeps.

It’s completely frustrating for everyone whom meetings are postponed for the club, it’s riders and supporters, I do have some experience of trying to get race days at the Showground and it’s not as easy as it used to be because of other events on those weeks and health & safety issues which affect whether speedway can run alongside other events, mostly they cannot. The track had clearly taken an excessive amount of rain on Friday and even getting it on having had no more would be have been a major task but the forecast was dreadful and quite rightly and likely to save considerable expense if nothing else the decision to try and run was correctly declined. In years gone by Promotions were not required to pay the full cost of renting the stadium and travel costs for riders and officials including flights etc if matches were postponed late but those days are gone and they now are which clearly comes into the equation. I dare say if you ran Peterborough Speedway things would be different but thankfully you are not and this way no one is unnecessarily inconvenienced other than you.

Witches v wolves 28th June, TV meeting

I can see the similarities but I don’t think those who run the sport are as bright as those who ran the sport in the 70s, 80s and 90s, so consequently the ideas for change are not properly thought out and how many 5 year plans have we had that only last 1 year. (Rising Star Plan being the latest) The rule bending unfortunately still applies ( but it does appear not quite as regular) but the saying, the answer depends on whose asking seems to still apply. I did smile when I read Jitendra Duffil’s rant the other week, I can still remember the fall out following the Redcar v Glasgow fixture a few years ago, a little bit of selective memory there. This sport’s history is littered with young promoters who arrive on the scene promising to do change everything and do things properly and leave a few years later disillusioned having done nothing but make things worse. Covid hasn’t helped but the collective desire for a better run sport just doesn’t seem to exist. Although the SCB and Under 21 development is now starting to show some progress. -

You could apply that logic to a few on here but unfortunately their is always a few that respond. Surprised to learn he is retired, his posts suggest he is the same age as another who changes his name regularly but always talks utter crap. -
And did you get a reply ?

Except of course for Issue 3 which Ipswich were allowed to ignore in signing Craig Cook

Allen, Starke & Kemp, makes Ipswich stronger providing the real Allen turns up.

Stars need their reserves scoring. I sincerely hope this is still on Eurosport, I certainly don’t want to see another Monmore borefest. -
Stars v Panthers. Thursday 01/07/21

Which ones are you missing ? -
The 2020 rulebook was revised by the SCB Chairman and others, proposed changes and ideas come from the BSPL via their directors. The SCB are not powerless although some parts of ratify undoubtedly happens. I wouldn’t argue with your third point in principle apart from the rulebook is in his head.

As I raised on the thread it’s bloody ridiculous that a rider who wasn’t selected as a RS by Ipswich ( I accept he is on the list) was then allowed to guest for a rising star (who in all probability shouldn’t have been) when he had an official MA which was above both the RS he was replacing and another rider in the teams 1-5. Its this skewed rule bending where one rule says he can do it and another says he cannot that infuriates me and our authorities allow it to happen. The SCB official should have said no and that’s the end of it. As has been said not only that but it further shafts his own team Ipswich who are now struggling to catch Sheffield to make the play offs. Some could argue that it’s swings and roundabouts especially after the last episode which allowed Cook & Starke to sign for Ipswich in the recent declaration as Cooks July GSA was ignored in favour of his June figure. But personally I like to see things done properly and without the underhand tactics this sport of ours is continually blighted by. Rowe’s guest bookings going forward are surely going to be busy now as he undoubtedly will replace Bates, Brennan and Mountain as regularly as his other team commitments allow, with the aforementioned trio likely to be unluckily smitten with various injuries and illnesses as and when the situation arises. I dare say the BSPL PR manager will surely come on to say it’s perfectly within the rules as they are written but when the rule book throws up anomalies like this it should be sorted and quickly by the SCB. I think going forward it would be a good idea if the BSP suggests rule changes to the SCB that they want, but these are then written by an SCB official not connected with any club.

A little odd, it’s bloody ridiculous. Yet another example of what was basically a good idea (Rising Star) being ruined by rules which yet again work against each other and offer an advantage to one team and disadvantage others. It could all have been avoided by proper assessed averages for Rising Stars (for those without the appropriate MA) instead of grades and team building built accordingly which most people understand.

Stars v Panthers. Thursday 01/07/21
bigcatdiary replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
They were tipped for the wooden spoon by many because a lot of them were as you say past their best but it’s clear now that despite that they are all riding well and are exceeding all expectations at the moment. They have gelled well as a team, are enjoying their speedway and confidence is high. That together with good team management is providing the results. It was a cracking all round team performance on the night and whilst Lynn were unlucky to lose Schlein early on I still think Panthers had too much in the tank for the Stars overall. The racing was quite good with several very entertaining races that weren’t decided by the first bend, the crowd appeared quite good and I would have said Peterborough fans accounted for close to half the attendance. -
Cat Fight. P'boro v Sheffield 28 June
bigcatdiary replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Another excellent meeting on a track which had taken so much rain, well done to the track staff. Yet another match where I expected the Tigers to provide a hard match but I am afraid I thought they were collectively poor. Holder and Ellis apart they were fairly toothless and Batchelor was woeful apart from one ride. For the Panthers solid was again the order of the day and our rising star Jordan Palin has arisen, the lad looked very impressive last night and has learned to ride the wide line, he received good back up from every member of the team who all chipped in with good points with everyone winning at least one race. On to Thursday and a trip to Kings Lynn, confidence is high. -

Some rain overnight and again this morning but as Crump99 says the fact that they haven’t called it off before 12 midday indicates they are planning/working to get it on. Hopefully we won’t get anymore rain and the forecast is better for the afternoon and evening. -

Peterborough Panthers 2021
bigcatdiary replied to Noodles's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ostergaard only did 4 official matches for Peterborough in 2019 and was a guest in the Ipswich away match in August so he has only 1 Away to count from 2019 (plus 3 home) and his 2021 matches are 4 home and 2 away so he is one away short for a new MA in July so should stay on his assessed 4.00. Thats of course assuming the BSPL don’t revise his GSA for July 1st which they could do. July GSA are due out anytime.
