  1. have you never heard of a meeting abandoned before then. This is not the first time it has ever happened
  2. I can quite understand why HKP is losing it on this site .Never has so much rubbish been on here since Mr Snackette postings. And he shut down two Ipswich forums. Will Macca 55 finish this one off as well
  3. My local tennis club of which I am chairman have sold part of our grounds to a building company to build houses on. We are going to have new floodlight courts and a new clubhouse. Part of the agreement was that not one house could be occupied until the new tennis courts were completed..This was laid down as one of the planners stipulations. Why was this not done with the Swindon Stadium. Somebody has slipped up badly here
  4. Surely it's a private matter what any rider earns .It's got nothing to do with anybody else. Perhaps the people enquiring would like to put what they earn on here then
  5. Lots of people sell their houses without them advertising it. I sold two shops but I advertised away as I did not want the staff or customers to know until it actually happened. Otherwise I might have lost staff or customers might go elsewhere.
  6. AS I am away are there any steams available for tonights meeting. I phoned BT and they wanted £21.99 for a month and £30.00 connection fee. I could get to Prague for less than that
  7. It would be a good idea for three rounds of a British championship An even better idea would be to have the old style world championship with a one off world final to run along side the Gp's each season
  8. If I was a promoter as I nearly did in 1989 I would let all riders in who rode for me but riders from previous promotions would mean nothing to me and should pay. Only possible exception would be riders who had exceptional service for the club like long service or champions
  9. This site has got very boring with the constant winging of Baldyman and the very odd postings of Macca who says he supports Rye House but keep making very odd ramblings on the Ipswich page. Perhaps he is still living in the past. Why does he keep posting on this forum and keep bringing up the death of the late Billy Sanders. Perhaps the two of them will be happy if Speedway finishes in Ipswich
  10. The first quiz 0n iTV was Double Your money with Hughie Green then Take your Pick whose catchphase was "Open The Box"
  11. It now seems impossible to believe that Ipswich once had it's own forum site a few years ago and judging by some of the recent postings on here no wonder it folded.
  12. Swindon stadium to be built 5/2 Stadium not to be built 1/4
  13. Pity the tapes did did not go up level for all four riders and so would not give an advantage to gates one and four. Then of cource that could be seen from the stands
  14. the referee was completely wrong and has robbed the paying customers to see what they pay for.
  15. To me Ipswich losing away to Peterborough on a last heat decider is a pretty good result and probably there was nobody who . would forecast it to be that close . Hardly a joke is it?
  16. The decline for Speedway is mainly due to Wembley closing for League Speedway. ,then the absence of World Finals there Too Much Speedway on television The lack of no Speedway in London The growth of Speedway in Poland and Sweden Changing from 2 valve to 4 valve Teams not having many local riders in them. Nearly all sports including football have a big decline in attendances And the main one of all Television
  17. And he was excellent when he rode for Wenbley as well What about John Louis . How good could he have been if he had started 10 years earlier Jack Parker also -Top Speedway rider in the 1930's and 1940's
  18. Some very interesting contributions about speedway in the yesteryears and lots about events that had nothing to do with speedway I think the heading was Speedway 's Golden Year which obviously was the late 1940's of perhaps the early 1950's. any thing else is just a pale imitation of those successful years
  19. The one thing that I thought was rather frightening about tonight's meeting was the attendance. Possibly 500. Now Speedway at Foxhall is not going to carry on at that level. So all those people saying I am not going tonight because it might rain or it's to far to go what will you say when Ipswich Speedway folds . If people do not make the effort to go you will not have to make the choice in the fuxure One of the main gripes on this forum is "I used to have a local team but is folded "x" numbers of years ago.So if you do not go this will happen here. Worrying times ahead
  20. I would think you might have seen the Premier League champions here tonight. Somerset simply had all round strength and there will be further improvement I thought BMD had a bit of the Darcy Ward's about him Not very good to see such a poor crowd tonight. The lowest I have ever seen Although it was a cold night this will not help it. Great first ride by Morten Risager . Probably his best ride ever at Foxhall.Overall not a bad meeting and run very quickly.
  21. I would think I was seen the most World Champions .Every one except Bluey Wilkinson and Jack Milne. I think I have seen every placed rider except the previous two and Cordy Milne. I have every World Speedway final programmme except 1937,1938 and 1961, The 1961 programme recently sold on EBay for £240 which I would think makes it the most valueable programme then followed by the pre war three
