Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)
screm replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Id imagine the only other thing Newcastle couldve done was to appeal to the BSPA that Lindgren was witholding his services,Id say Newcastle wouldve got a guest facility for tuesday, but lost Lindgren for 28-days. A no win situation. -

Im just delighted Ludvig wasnt there. Im sure Berwick had a similar situation with Alden last season,if he didnt fulfill his Swedish fixture SVEMO would stop him racing over here,so they used an NL rider.. -
Sky's Additions To It's Speedway Coverage.

I met Nigel Pearson after last tuesday meeting at Berwick, first of all you couldnt wish to me a nicer person, and secondly its obvious he is a true speedway nut.So to those who critisize I suggest we start looking at Pearson as an asset to speedway coverage on Sky.Its quite obvious that Sky & EuroSport think hes doing a decent enough job,so those who damn the man they are either in the minority or wrong or more than likely both. -

Given absolute priority to British fixtures is something that very few overseas riders do now, tonight you have Hans Anderson chasing Danish Final glory,if he`s to give absolute priority shouldnt he be at Swindon. Im sure Lindgren wouldve loved to have raced at Shielfield the other night, but his Swedish fixture wouldve been arranged months ago where the Berwick v Newcastle meeting was brought forward at a few weeks notice. Had lindgren told SVEMO is was not racing for Vastervik and would race for Newcastle, chances are you wouldnt have seen Lindgren race over here for quite some time. -

Nice to see the promotion coming out to say thank,as it says in the peice the night was a success off track, good crowd,an entertaining meeting for those that were there and just importantly a good meeting for the armchair fans.On track in terms of the result was the disapointing thing, had Berwick got a last heat 5-1 I think Nigel Pearson wouldve exploded. I hope the promotion put as much effort into promoting every meeting from here on in,as it just goes to show what can be achieved. -

Yes I heard that to,for the amount their going to get used,if thats the case, their a helluva expensive set of kevlars Kennetts got. I posted a while ago that as things stand there are no fixture clashes between Berwick & Swindon,so now he is getting extra income from the PL,you`d think Kennett would be keen to keep the arrangement going for as long as possible.Indeed,if he stays long enough he would get an average that might help him get a doubling up position for next year, whether thats a Berwick of course is another matter. -

Yes he did himself no favours, hopefully it will be an ever bigger lesson learned. Apart from the dive Starke had another useful meeting for Berwick. -

Lets us all be thankful that Newcastle didnt turn up with a full team, the four that beat us last night were more than enough to handle. -

Theres been a number of posts critisizing Paul Starkes "professional foul" last night and rightly so,now he isnt the 1st rider to do this but hopefully will be one of the last, lets not go over board with,he did wrong and Im certain he will learn from it. -

Excellent point and one I agree with,it looks like we will have to make do with a guest for the visit of Ipswich as Kennett has be drawn in the GP Qualifier at St.Johan. -

Your right it is called gamesmanship.but its part of the game thats not nice to see. Nor is it nice to see part of the Berwick promotion congratulating Starke for his "efforts". -

Thoroughly enjoyed our 1st night infront of the Sky cameras last night and the Berwick promotion can feel proud of their efforts. They promoted the meeting well for the last few weeks and was rewarded with a big crowd,I havent yet watch the whole meeting over again but from what Ive seen the Sky crew were well pleased also with Berwicks efforts,so from that point of view it was all positive. Sadly though in the cool light of a wednesday morn it was another home defeat for Berwick, and Im sure the management must be asking how on earth a 4-man Newcastle team can win a meeting. But you cant take anything away from Newcastle, they deserved their win and in Lewis Kerr they seem to have yet again unearthed a star and if your looking for a reason for their win then look no further than young Kerr. As everyone knows in tight meetings Hts13 and 15 are crucial,in both of these races last night Newcastle got 5-1s,meaning their top guys delivered, sadly for Berwick ours didnt.Sorry but our No1 needs to deliver in these races and he didnt last night. We wont be seeing Kennett for a while now as it appears he will miss our next home meeting with Ipswich. All in all a great advert for PL speedway. Agree with you,its something that nobody likes to see,Starke has been excellent so far for Berwick this season,I hope we wont be seeing that again. Errrrrrrrrrrr. -

Lovely evening sunshine in Berwick now. Everyone can debate the rights and wrongs of Newcastle taking this fixture, but they did and they will race tonight.Hopefully it will be a good meeting and a good advert for PL speedway. On the other side,Berwick, should they win can only beat whats put infront of them be it a weakened Newcastle team or not. And theres fancy dress. -

True, but its the best we can do.Bit cloudier than before but still dry and reasonably bright. Sad that Newcastle arent coming with a full side, and thats bound to have stopped a few from coming up,might actually stop a few from Berwick popping along to,but what can you do.I think Berwick will win,and probably by 10-12pts,but I hope hope theres plenty of good racing for the watching millions. -

Vino Calapso. The clouds are breaking up nicely here in Berwick, and we`ve had some sunshine over the last hour or two, though theres no sun as I post. -

Are you still dragging that up. No showers so far and to be honest I dont think we will get any now,its still cloudy but the clouds are high. -

Its madness to suggest that Newcastle would turn down a chance to be on Sky,maybe Sky and/or the powers that be couldve looked into it a bit more to see if all the riders were available for both teams, but you cant blame Newcastle for accepting this chance. You never know, they might just win, doubt it mind, but you never know. Stroke of genius to get rid of Edberg when we did,he`s been selected to ride for his club in Sweden tonight,so we wouldve been facing the same headache as Newcastle have had with Lindgren. Ironically the forecast for Sweden today is shocking,Lindgren might be watching his team on tv with the rest of us. -

Theres been a fair bit of rain in Berwick over the last few days, which wouldve been perfect for track conditions tonight.Yesterday was largely dry,we did have a bit of rain in the evening, but its been dry overnight. Right now its dry but cloudy, forecast for today is theres a chance of a shower this morning but by afternoon they should all be gone,if we get any atall. After lunchtime and into the afternoon it will be dry and theres a chance of some sunshine. See you all later. Maybe, just maybe because he hasnt been selected to ride for his club in Sweden. They run a squad system over there, which on this occasion helps Berwick.
