PersonalResponsibility
Received the SS calendar I ordered as a Christmas present. Not a bad calendar, but I do have to ask: why is July a grasstrack image? Aside from the fact that I ordered a speedway calendar, was there nowhere else to put grasstrack than a peak summer speedway month like July? Mick Bratley
I feel for Pinegen. Royal Mail are slowly destroying their business. Our postman openly admits that they prioritise parcels in the area we live in, a mere 18 miles from where the Star is printed, and that mail stacks up because the bosses won’t allow letters to be delivered with overtime as delivering letters is loss making and parcels aren’t. Fortunately our postman is a bit of a Speedway fan, and grabs my mail from the sorting office when he can as a bit of a favour to me, but sometimes his round gets changed and my delivery of mail returns to crap. There seems little point in buying first class stamps these days.
mikebv
They should wrap it in red and green sparkly paper during December... That way the Royal Mail will prioritise it....

GeneralMelchett Posted yesterday at 09:30 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:30 AM I seem to be able to find a copy in two of my nearby tescos so I usually buy it there when I remember, I wouldn't subscribe now - we often get out post for the week seemingly delivered in one go on a friday or a saturday! martinmauger
My Star w / e 20th Dec arrived today, think I'm up to date now so all is well 😉. I also feel for Pinegen, always feel a bit guilty asking for replacements (copies missing after 3 days never turn up) but they are ok about it, apologise & send duplicates straight away. I've sometimes bought another copy from likes of Asda / Tesco / TJ Jones / whoever but often there are none on the shelves, usually at the same time as my '3 days late & gon foreva' copies. Hmmm.... Hackett
I manage to get my Speedway Star in Asda , usually can get it on a Thurs or Fri at the latest. If left to Royal Mail we'd probably get sense from the AGM before my next copy arrives. Having worked in the media industry - B2B and consumer mags , I am surprised that the magazine hasn't gone totally digital. Would guess more about the demographic of the readership but if postage costs keep rising and circulation drops don't be surprised it moves into the digital remit. Certainly an opportunity for a speedway website or app simlar to the PGE Ekstraliga version.
martinmauger
I get the above but apart from preferring hard printed copies of any magazine, digital versions aren't an option for me. Internet speeds are so random in these parts: I've watched live content of podcasts & such from Aussie, USA, Russia no probs at all, other times can take 5 or even 10 hours for an email to cross town. Likely cos while fibre optic is slowly being rolled out half the network connections are still copper cable, means BSN isn't an option either....
