There are alterative ways of doing things if prices become prohibitive. Why do these amateur riders all need vans for example? We joke about it but in days gone by even the best riders turned up in estate cars with their bike on a rack on the back and if they really do need vans then why not team up and share?
2ndbend123
All Workington riders have been banned from guesting while the clubs suspension is taking place. So Voulas and Foord both supposed to be riding tonight have been banned and will not be riding for Birmingham and Ipswich. This is now seeing the riders hit in their pocket for the clubs incompetence. And a lot still think our riders are not looking elsewhere to ride? TTT
Think Workington need to own up here and come out with the truth because staying silent is just making things a whole lot worse.

I'm unclear as to why Workington riders are not allowed to guest for other teams? Foord was reported to have signed for Ipswich - how has this been blocked? I could understand it if all the Workington riders registrations had been cancelled and so Vuolas couldn't guest as he would not have a contract with another team, but Foord is signed in NDL and Premiership. Does it mean tgat Foord now can't ride for Kent either ( who incidentally have a guest for him at Birmingham tonight).

Can remember a good few years ago now, but both Eastbourne and Glasgow did northern/southern tours all travelling in a coach with seats taken out to put bikes etc in . Riders mechanics and management all travelling together

Foord is now riding for Kent has he was a signed rider at the start of the season. I believe Jason Edwards is now fit so they went with that option. All riders must be banned from guesting. I do know at the start of the season Tate and Anti visa were sorted out by Belle Vue and Birmingham not Workington.
SJA
16 minutes ago, Ajr said: If it's a visa issue I can understand Vuolas and Tizche having issues but not Foord As Derwent has stated the club is "Bona Vacantia" which means that all assets come under the ownership of The Treasury. This would include rider contracts. So its up to the Treasury to decide how best to make as much money as possible to pay themselves back. So I would suspect they wont let riders guest incase they get injured and then cannot be signed by other clubs. This would apply to both riders on a work permit and those that do not need them. SteelShoe
I'm really hopeful that a solution has been arrived at which at least gets us back racing again this Saturday against the Pirates. There is no doubt it has affected everyone involved with the club.

Speedway should have got its act together years ago, especially for the professional side of the sport. The clubs, themselves, supply the bikes on the day, all to a set standard, so no one could complain they got a duff bike. It would take away the 'he's only good because he spends £X on specialist tuning'. All too late now. It has been discussed before and of course, many have views why it wouldn't work. But, the current model/set-up, definitely isn't working. I can't see how the sport can be attractive to a rider in this country? Does Bomber Harris really think his son will have an eventual future in speedway?

I don't think it is, that's why they try and get a Polish spot as soon as they can
