Get what you're both saying, the only issue is that this side doesn't have the strength in depth to run R/R.

With Cook being the lowest average out of the main riding order and only being the 1 above able to take R/R (Kvech) & reserves, it'll be a dangerous tactic if (as has been happening) another in the top 5 flops.

The makeup of this teams must have riders fill the top 5 spots.

Guests at No6 is by far (right now) the option.

If you put Cook at reserve though and you genuinely can't get anyone to guest you are definitely stuffed. At least if he is in the 1-5 you have R/R as last resort. We obviously want an adequate guest if one is available though. So if guests are available you can get the  one you want regardless whether Cook is reserve or in the 1-5.

Hopefully Brennan will fill the void against Oxford, after that though the pickings will be slimmer once Cook's average does go down.

I hope you are correct, that would mean another month of Bomber at reserve.I thought with rolling averages though that they do change, only ones with assessed averages, new to the league or those that have been absent for so long have to do six matches first to get a new average.Hope i am wrong.

If someone already has a CMA (over 6 meetings) then their average changes from the 1st of every month. It takes into account last years meetings also, and is based on the last 20 meetings raced. All of Lynn’s riders fulfil that criteria, so the averages will be be changed on 1st May up to and including meetings to the 21st April.

Suggests Harris will be no 1 and Klindt drops down to reserve

Do Lynn look at signing a replacement for Cook while he is out.If you make the change before the end of the month at least you can use his higher average before it goes down next month. Is there anyone willing to come.I see the recovery time varies on the broken bones he sustained from 6-12 weeks.Although speedway riders do like to get back earlier. If there was a decent replacement out there I would go for that until Cook was fit to return I think.

Guest replacement's are another issue in signing a "strength in depth" team...

By signing the No1 rider in the league you have the whole league as possible replacements...

Signing riders much further down the averages reduces the quality of any possible replacements...

Cook was at No4 last year for the Aces...

A massive jump to No1 considering only his position in the team has changed, not his average...

If there was somebody out there on the right average who could step in for a month or so then I'd say yes but it would need to be an 'oven ready' signing rather than a newcomer or one for the future.

It would definitely save the ball ache of guests if he drops to reserve for May.

I’d argue it’s the complete opposite, it’s much harder to replace a number 1 with an average over 9 than it is a rider who has an average around 6

If there was a rider on a 7 point ave available to replace Cook, even temporarily, I'd go ahead & do it. But if not, I'd stick with guests or r/r.

I wouldn't make a double change, can't see any top riders willing to come over.

Edit: Lynn's total average will drop in May, they'd have 7.30 available to replace Cook.

You can get more replacements but not of the level you need as the team is still a "strength in depth" one...

If Doyle is out, you can bring in the Holder's, Kurtz, Bewley, or  Fricke, meaning your team is still strong...

Bringing in one of a plethora of 6 pt men still leaves a team full of 6 pt men due to the *strength in depth" idea...

I wouldn't make a double change for sure. You have a good point that we will have that little more to play with come May.It all depends on the length of time Cook is out for I suppose.

Leaving a team of 6 pt men is what they are anyway. You won't all of a sudden think you deserve someone who rides as an 8 pointer. So it should be near enough like for like with a 6 pointer. With the likes of Doyle etc,if they are out you have a limited number that could fill his role, and not many of those top riders do many guest bookings nowadays. And who could fill his boots around Foxhall anyway.

Correct. Doyle WAS out as we all know, and Nicholls was the regular guest. Every eligible rider was asked to guest but none of them fancied it. Bewley took one booking, but apparently needed some persuading. You’ll find the middle order riders much more willing to earn a little extra cash.

Yes that’s correct, so you hit 75% on 21/7/25.

Belle Vue have the least amount of time again to make changes with our cut off being almost four weeks before Ipswich or Oxford.

I’m sure over the course of the season the fact it rains every other day in Manchester will ensure belle vue reach the cut off around a similar time 🤣
