What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

Chris Louis and Mark Lemon will  prepare to die fighting to keep a PL and the majority of the TV money

That will ensure Ipswich, Belle Vue , Kings Lynn form the core of the reduced PL, they will ensure enough funding to ensure Leicester can remain in and ensure that someone with deep pockets goes in to Sheffield....They will go with 5 IF they have to, if not they will offer to throw a small fortune at a track to make up the 6th place - Louis has already touted Northampton and has close links with Deane Woods who owns both Ipswich and Northampton.

The CL will remain as it is.

NDL may add Mildenhall if ACU will sigh off the track, if not Mildenhall will ride a NORA programme.

The NDL level hasn't enough riders to support a league to fit the 10 or 11 who are currently members, a few might drop out, they will want to support Kent who will be the only standalone. So NDL may well be regionalised again.

My bigger concern is that end of this season his work visa runs out. You can renew it obviously but it’s another thing that makes me question if he will return or not.

If the structure of the sport allows for his return then it’s done to what Emil & Ipswich want to do. If they both then want it to happen I can’t see the visa being an issue.

I can only see Emil riding in the UK for Ipswich but I can’t see the structure allowing it to happen.

Is British speedway about to become a franchise, speedway futures Ltd is the brand, each track is a franchise and pay a % to the brand ?

Should have happened decades ago...

S**t or get off the potty and let someone else have a go...

One Brand to sell to the country...

Just like the NFL, all merchandise revenue gets shared, (using  one corporate Speedway GB brand but each clubs own emblem is used on their individual merch), and the worst team each season get first opportunity to improve the season after...

All TV money shared equally....

Streaming money shared the same, unless you don't allow streaming...

You buy the franchise and hopefully make some money...

You would though need some "proper governance" and "quality control" from "someone" independent who controls things. .

(Fireman Phil?)...

fans of a certain club will be in here soon complaining that the worst team gets first pick for the following year.

They couldn't even keep to the RS "rules" could they?;)

No.
Brands in sporting bodies do not operate in the way you suggest.

I have never been in favour of reducing down the standard/quality of anything in an attempt to make it more attractive. It’s an oxymoron.

The idea that you can simply share out the likes of Doyle, Sayfutdinov, Bewley, Kurtz, Holder, Fricke, etc, etc across a broader group of teams just doesn’t hold water. The first problem is that it assumes that all clubs in a combined league can afford them which is incredibly unlikely. Even in a 7 team Premiership, it is clear that there are clubs that have deeper pockets than others resulting in a significant gap between them. That problem will just be worse in a combined league as teams choose to ride in the Championship for a reason which surely is primarily a financial one.

The second problem is that it assumes that the riders concerned will simply accept that they have to move on to a different team. Some may do, some won’t.

Anyway, let’s wait and see what the exciting future looks like.
