But how can a rider put 500 extra bums on seats?

If Dan Bewley cant do it for BV, with the way he rides the NSS, theres not much hope for anyone else

Nobody outside of the few thousand who watch Speedway each week know who he is...

And that is the biggest issue the sport has...

Most of Manchester won't even know what the NSS is, nor even who the Belle Vue Aces are...

And even what Speedway is..

So, sadly, It matters not one jot to crowd levels how well Dan rides the NSS...

Both have said they can only make it pay if they double up, Wright ditto.

Did the interview ask him about what he does during the other part of the year?

Probably works hard to scrape together the huge lump of cash he needs to equip himself for the following speedway season

:D

Point 2  promote team fixtures!!!!! It's now 39 days before the season starts (klindt testimonial) and still no fixtures for ANY league how the hell can fans plan to follow their team at home and away with no fookin fixtures 😗

Couldn’t agree more. It’s the promoters job to promote fixtures which they and their fellow BSPL members have the responsibility to arrange & publish.
Clearly at this moment they are failing miserably- but it’s not the riders fault which was the point I originally made.

Whats the general gist ?

I haven't read it fully but I believe Wright said that without a Premiership berth if he didn't have a ride in Polish League with Landshut he'd have quit speedway because he couldn't make it pay.

But he does have the Polish ride. Seems a bit woe is me I must say. He's been one of many prime benefactors of the doubling up free for all of the last 15 odd years.

Wasn't grumbling when he picked up around £8k for 2 filler GP appearances last year. 🤔

I imagine it does cost a lot money to be a speedway rider but I also know it costs a fortune to be a performing musician. Which is what I am. I've lost thousands over the years, but I've done it for 15 years because I love it.. speedway riders get paid. Paid well. I don't have much sympathy for a rider like Charles. I do for the younger riders but not the established ones.

The problem is having a van and five bikes is feasible if your riding in Poland but in the UK these days in my eyes reality is the top 50% can warrant a van and two bikes next 50% should be one bike and ideally a track spare the costs have got out of control for what the UK can afford now days not helped by riders in the UK spending thousands per annum on tuning.

At some point a total reset will have to happen but it seems to have been kicked again for at least another year unless Harry comes through with some new multi million pound backers to sort the sport out.

These guys forget it is a sport,go and get a job if it’s that bad. They are earning good money for 6 months work for 10 minutes on a bike on race night. No sympathy I’m afraid.

I would love to know how many riders don’t work during the off season.  I’d imagine many championship rider’s also don’t but I may be wrong

Most of them expect a 6 month season riding speedway to fund their 6 month close season living costs, like been said perhaps they should get a proper job between Oct/Nov thru till Feb/March.
