If Max is not available, Ben Cook was flying last night, looked very quick. Edited August 19 by foreverblue
RS50
Just wondering about the rules. As Jack is almost certainly not returning this year, do the rules allow a change, taking in to account, Sheffield have completed over 75% of their scheduled fixtures. Robert Lambert would be a great addition to the play offs .. Considering the sport uses Mickey Mouse rules all season, (often to its detriment), it seems ridiculous that at the business end of the season they don't do the same to improve the spectacle...

It's crazy that British Speedway thinks it is more credible to use guest riders rather than a genuine replacement for a rider with a season ending injury. Of course, the regulation was changed after Belle Vue did that ( when the regs allowed it - unintentionally or otherwise) to bring in Robert Lambert to replace the injured Max Fricke a few years ago. 5

Gorzow have brought in Charles Wright to replace Jack Holder . Now, he isn't obviously a LIke For Like replacement but if there had been some World Class riders not riding in Poland they could have, and would have, brought one in.. Like a proper team sport would allow... 2

This would have created plenty of "subs on the bench"... The Danish five rider set up would have been ideal for the UK...

A wage/retainer would have to be paid to all squad members as they wouldn't accept points payments if they weren't getting the chance to score them. Would this really be sustainable with teams already losing money ?

As an example, if the six teams currently in the top tier lost two riders each then 12 riders would be available to cover absences/poor performance... They can bring in "usage rules", (and I am sure they will be as usual, ambiguous and convoluted)!!.. In short, just create a situation, (unlike now), where there are more riders than places.... Meaning cover, and competition, for those places... Edited yesterday at 01:21 PM by mikebv

Are you basically saying you want to make 12 riders 'unemployed' just so they can be called on as and when needed ? If not a squad system where riders are aligned to a particular team even if not riding, then would that be a central pool of riders that anyone could call on ? How is that different to the current guesting rules ?

How is that different to the current guesting rules ? Riders have more than one team, and some also hold down a full time job away from Speedway, so they won't be "unemployed" unless they choose to be.. And several riders this season, like all other seasons, got brought in to replace injured riders or when team changes got made.... Therefore, five rider teams will be the same as now in the way riders get brought in as the season goes along, however, the difference will be that there will be a bigger supply of them.. Rob B
With Fricke average dropping for September, clear Sheffield will be using him every meeting in playoffs.

Unless Kings Lynn were to get home and away wins against Leicester then Max would be in the play offs for Kings Lynn with Leicester still facing Sheffield
