Would be good for the club to put some meat on the bones to provide assurance of longevity though. I'd hope that Jamie is having a well earned rest, after what has probably been a bloody stressful week.

PhilTheAce
can the speedway run without the dogs as it might have to. the GBGB (Greyhound board of great britain) have already removed Oxford from the latest calendar published on friday. so the dogs are 100% finised there i imagine. can the speedway find the 2 million debt????? Why would the speedway need to find the 2 million debt, that’s an absurd thing to say! It’s quite simple really, the speedway now need to do their own lease agreement with the stadium owners rather than through a third party which included the dogs. As far as I know this new arrangement is agreed and it’s all systems go for the rest of the season.

Oxford Speedway Ltd have apparently reached an agreement to continue to operate at the stadium (obviously who with only they know). The debt, I believe, is owed by Oxford Stadium Limited. The stadium is owned by Galliards, so maybe they have come to an agreement over the lease payment for at least this season. Beyond that, who knows… Edited 4 hours ago by Toady

The stadium Lease / rent was for £xxx a few weeks ago shared by speedway and the dogs, which the dogs appeared to pay the majority share via streaming fees, now the rent has to be found by speedway, which is totally not viable, so troubling times ahead

Buster owns Kings Lynn stadium but if it was not for stockcars it would fold.

The original lease was for 15 years I believe but I could be wrong on that so the new lease for the speedway might only be short term. Gallard Homes can now say the stadium is not profitable and it will help there case to redevelop the land.

Hence that one is ripped up and put in the bin and a new speedway only lease has been agreed at a sensible rate for the amount of use the speedway has at the stadium. Its then up to stadium owners to try and do a new greyhound deal to make up the difference

The original lease that Kevin Boothby signed with Galliards was for ten years with a break clause for either party at five years. I also understand that they would not be interested in signing another long lease with anyone, so your thinking is correct. Our only hope, due to construction being difficult at the moment, is that they will allow us to stay for now.

They also have to get planning permission which will take an age even if it is successful. Maybe they think some income from the site as opposed to none is better in the meantime. Has Boothy been paying Galliards though or is it strictly SIS pulling out that caused the financial situation.?

Maybe they've moved slightly, an empty stadium costs them money, a lease on the stadium brings money in.

I would think he has; otherwise, he would have been locked out of the stadium. Sis loaned him money in part to get Oxford up and running, I believe, and they obviously have some problem with him if they have pulled the plug on his ventures.

Are Boothby and Courtney both still involved in running Oxford Speedway going forward now.?
