RS50
Is there a deadline for a decision on team 6? I presume no Premier fixtures can be done until this happens.

There's still just 4 teams in the Premiership

Every Monday & Thursday there will always be at least one team not racing, they could race the 6th team on that date if needed?

There's plenty of Jokers running the British League without doing that although you do have a good point. You never know - Redknapp's Wild Card (Poole Pirates) seeded straight to the final
THE DEAN MACHINE
I’m beginning to wonder if this 6th team talk is a smoke screen to deflect from they haven’t secured the 5th team yet and it stops people talking about the Ipswich situation until it is resolved,,if it was a done deal they would surely be able to release fixtures by now, so clearly all is not sorted Edited Tuesday at 11:38 PM by THE DEAN MACHINE

You would just inform the club missing out to be on "standby" and put TBA on the weeks they are the fifth team... Of course, running six teams does mean at least two will still need to miss out each week so their riders can guest.... They wouldn’t think of that !!! imo the 6th team is just a pipe dream. If they had acted sooner it could have been achieved but Godfreys head was too deep in the sand.

Phil Morris is the Premiership Chief Executive!!

Bagpuss
Morris has been heavily involved in trying to get Northampton off the ground for many months I believe. Hopefully it comes to fruition.

To be fair there's only thirty or so of us on here now, flip side I guess is we are still 70% of the total speedway audience these days with an average age of 79.
Marky_Mark
There is still a possibility of a 6th team running. I know I get shot down in flames every time I say this and don’t mention the team name, but I respect people when I’m told something in strictest confidence. Still lots of work going on in the background to make this happen and the clubs won’t release their fixtures until this is a yes or a no.

It seems Kent are not running in the development league due to not being able to commit when the NL meeting was on, maybe didn't have permission to use the track? (This is all guesswork). If that's true how can the BSPL leave a space open for a Premiership side but not a development league side? Surely there's much less of a rush to get the NL sorted than the Prem? Hamish McRaker
Summary of Premiership news items in Speedway Star, dated 28 May 2026; BSPL say Ipswich now 99.9% likely to be coming to the tapes this season, as the takeover still has one niggling matter to resolve. No riders announced yet, apart from Edwards BSPL say Northampton now 97.6% likely to be coming to the tapes this season. Still hoping to complete a deal with an as yet un-named investor with £200k sitting in his bank. No riders announced yet. Rumours they could begin the season by staging home matches at Wembley as someone at BSPL remembered there used to be a track there a few years ago. Belle Vue, Kings Lynn, Leicester and Sheffield have already gone ahead and raced many of their scheduled matches against each other, the last fixtures being listed for the last week of June. No season tickets have been available yet, but hopefully they will be for their remaining matches, which will all be against Ipswich and Northampton alternately. Ipswich v Northampton matches will all be staged during the final week of the season, whenever that is. The big meeting of all current promoters and owners, to plan for the 2027 season and scheduled for June 6th, has been cancelled. Premiership owners and promoters are currently too busy flogging dead horses, and there have been no responses from any in the Championship, apart from the Scunthorpe representative who queried the need to look so far ahead. A BSPL spokesperson said that the meeting will now "probably be held sometime in October, or whenever the current season is over and done with". Bartoz Zmarzlik has been confirmed as World Champion for 2026, after already accumulating sufficient points from the 18 "sprint races" during the GP events staged so far. Interviewed, he said he was "very happy"
