Is that rule still a thing? That’ll be why then. What a stupid rule.

The rule is in place to stop a rider guesting for the same team virtually every week (i.e long term injury cover). I'm not sure why it's waived for number ones though?

Wasn't expecting that score so well done the Bandits, first of all hope both riders injuries aren't serious and wish them a speedy recovery.Kildeman was on fire, Nick looking more like it, Comets were disappointing does anyone know why Peter and Nick weren't in heat 15 ?

What’s with the Greg Blair hate? I quite like him.

I like Greg but it wasn’t a great look after voicing his opinion that he headed up to the referees box. He may have said absolutely nothing but it didn’t look good. He probably overstepped the mark but there’s also a degree of people just looking for something to be angry with after the result.

I thought it was a stupid move from Niklas to try and go around turns 3&4 at Berwick not knockkng him for effort but there was no room up around there, even if they had not clipped each other I think he would have ended up in the fence.

Really bad decision from the ref to change his mind and then exclude Craig even though after the stream showed a reply off someone's phone Craig left him with very little room

Comets gating was shocking to say the least up to heat 9.

Irrespective of the incident it was stupid of Ref to announce the result before checking all avenues available before making his decision.Im assuming they are allowed to look at video evidence if the match is being streamed nowadays .Either Team manager is going to tell him to check it anyway (if it is allowed).Hope Reid is not too badly hurt and speedy recovery it was nasty crash.Took the gloss of a Bandits ruthless display up till the crash.

Like Greg but he does overstep the mark regarding track incidents. He can wind up the crowd with banter on anything else but should stay out of referees decisions and not giving his own.

Not angry about the result as well won the 2nd half. But Greg Blair is susposed to be an impartial announcer, but was gobbing off telling the referee what decision to make, which should not be allowed, also the ref called the result, then after Blair said look at a reply he changed his mind, if he was in doubt he should have deferred the result pending a video review. Comets came back from a bigger defeat in 2018 maybe can do it again 🤔

Can't get much worse than watching this rubbishe and listening to Greg Blair 😡

You mean you could actually hear him on that side.We must have been in a sound dead zone left hand side of the back straight stand then, thats why we moved to the main stand to hear what was going on.

Comets were anhialated from the tapes in those first 8 heats. The score of 39-9 on the program was certainly unexpected and unwelcome in the first leg of a KO Cup tie.

The decision by the ref to change his mind in heat 4 and exclude Cookie after previously excluding Reid Battye was shocking.

Kildemand was imperious for the Bandits on the night and I couldn't understand why he didn't get heat 15.

Huge task tomorrow but the lads owe the fans who made the journey a big performance.

Hope Niklas and Reid Battye are not badly injured.

I thought it was a rule that you cant have same rider guesting at same track within 8 days, unless it's for a no1?

Well looks like I'm wrong 😲 @LisaColette the 8 day rules applies Saturday to Saturday but as the comets are riding on Sunday 9 days from last meeting, this falls outside the 8 day rule. So in theory Cooper Rushen could guest again but as good as the young kid is, he won't help the comets cause, and I don't think bartoz or Dan Bewley could either 😜

First of all, best wishes to the injured riders hopefully it’s nothing too serious. Well I can’t say that I was expecting that result, the long delay kind of knocked the stuffing out of the meeting and the Comets did rally a bit towards the end of the night . The Bandits will travel with a bit of confidence of entering the somewhat uncharted ground of the next round of a cup competition, but this is speedway and you never know what’s going to happen

From the Berwick match report, it gets worse… (not sure why they would even print this)

“Initially referee Willie Dishington excluded the Bandits’ man but then controversially decided to review his decision, actually using camera footage from a supporter on the third bend as the official club stream didn’t have a definitive angle on the high speed crash. Even more controversially the Scottish official overturned his original decision and excluded Cook.”

What an absolute sh1tshow. I’m guessing that’s the reason Greg Blair went into the referee’s box, as how else would the footage from the 3rd bend get to the referee.

This sport is just so amateurish at times.

Impartial announcer? Since when are there any of those? I'm sure they make any away fans feel welcome but they will always play up to the home fans. Sure he isn't as bad as the Wolves one was (Porky).

Also with the guest announced you will do well just to win on the day!

Yeah poor form from Greg Blair and and the referee. You are absolutely right about the sport, it actually denegrates amateur sport calling speedway amateurish.

If the above regarding Mr Blair and the referee, them in charge should be looking into this and fine / suspend both patties. But I won't hold me breath as them in charge don't seem to care

End of the day the ref makes the decision . If he is as some say being influenced by certain people then that’s his ownership of the situation. Greg being an ex rider yes he is entitled to voice his opinion as much as all the warriors do on here but he says it as he sees it. Been to plenty of places where the ref was influenced. Berwick on the wrong end of one at Armadale last year where after 10 mins the decision was overturned. No changing it now though. As for the meeting Berwick were ruthless out of the gate and if Reid hadn’t taken a bad one which was no fault of his own then it could have been a cricket score. Good luck to the riders today . Stay safe

Having read the comments/speculation on heat 4 last night, here’s what ACTUALLY happened: From the referee’s vantage point, the decision was made to exclude Reid as it didn’t look like Cookie had touched him & he fell on his own, this was officially announced as per SCB regulations. He then asked if there if a replay was available (yes he should have asked before announcing but hindsight is a wonderful thing) & was told there was so he went along to the commentary box - at NO point was Greg in contact with the referee or the refs box. While the referee was away the 3rd bend footage was sent via messenger to the box, Greg then came into the box to ask what was happening & was told the referee was viewing the BanditsTV footage, at which point the referee returned to the box. He was about to stick with his initial decision as the BanditsTV footage was inconclusive however when he was shown the clip from the 3rd bend clearly showing Cookie made contact with Reid he then changed his decision. At no point was Greg involved in influencing the referee’s decision, the change was made purely on him seeing the 3rd bend footage. Hope this helps
