What amazes me is that almost every season the conference is said to be, by at least one promoter, "the most important ever", and "we all need to work together to improve things"... Which, suggests, just by using those phrases, the promoters know that what they currently do isn't working... Yet, by the end of each conference hardly anything fundamentally gets changed!!! With the changes that are made being things like "riding across the centre green now gets you excluded"!. And obviously we have "the best conference ever", "we are all on the same page" etc etc etc, upon conference close.. Baffling that we end up with pretty much the same operating model and business plan each year, which naturally, and obviously, will deliver pretty much the same results each year, and, at the end of the season the promoters recognise the issues, then do nothing to sort them.. I don’t disagree, but if the plan is to water it down further and make it “semi pro”, then they’ll lose another paying customer. Not interested. Not interested. There are not enough riders around that'll accept a 'Semi-Professional' league. YeOldPitGate Posted 9 hours ago Report Share Posted 9 hours ago The impression I got from reading the article by the Scottish fella in the Star is it will still be two leagues next season I know a lot are against it and we all have our bias but personally if they could get a semi decent tv deal I still think two leagues of eight is way to go but just once home and away in the top league but ideally 20-30% better quality if it can be financed. Given other than Buster I think all other teams rent their stadiums if nothing else the losses would probably be halved and more people should turn up to watch as fewer but (hopefully) better quality meetings so long as not monthly home meetings. The bottom three-four riders in teams league one could still double up in league 2 which could run 2 home ,2 away, as far as I'm aware Poland top league is just once home and away and it seems to work well for their top league. Less meetings probably means higher rents though I'd expect. You do wonder where a tv deal (that actually pays proper money not the other way round) and sponsorship might come from. Top 4 from each move on to Play-Offs, Home & away x1. Whomever finish top wins the league. Remaining teams below both top 4s, home & away x1 compete for the Caven Shield. Guarantee of around 12-13 Home fixtures pending number of teams. Plus KO Cup, Pairs & British Final (scrap the qualifiers). All averages in the 1st season converted to current Premiership. Team building to 40.00. Introduce a grading system for year 1 also. Grade A: SGP, Ekstraliga ave 7.00+, Elitserien, Danish League & Premiership 8.00+. Grade B: Ekstraliga 6.99-4.00, Elitserien, Danish League & Premiership 7.99-6.00. Grade C: Everyone else. If a team signs 1 Grade A they can have 2 Grade Bs. Sign 2 Grade As, it's only 1 Grade B.
