Friday 14th August: Edinburgh Monarchs v Poole Pirates (Championship, Armadale, 7:30pm)

ROSS ECO TECHNOLOGIES MONARCHS: Dan Thompson, Jonatan Grahn, Justin Sedgmen, Paco Castagna (capt.), Kye Thomson, Mitch Cluff, Darryl Ritchings.

POOLE WESSEX MARINE PIRATES: Richard Lawson, rider replacement for Will Cairns, Lewis Kerr, Cooper Rushen, Zach Cook (capt.), Slater Lightcap, Edward Kennett.

I thought with Poole replacing Fraser Bowes with Slater Lightcap we'd seen the last of Edward Kennet riding at reserve for the Pirates. I thought wrong.

It’s a very strong looking pirate team

Really simple this one lose and season is over win play off hopes still alive, unfortunately can’t see us winning.

Think you're being a little down on this one, Monarchs have a handy four points over Redcar the next potential play off team. The more critical match will be the away match at Redcar on the 28th. Scunthorpe are far more vulnerable, they have plenty of deadwood judging from last night's performance.

Forever the optimist as long as someone has had a word  with Paco to remain professional until the end.

I think you might sneak it.

Pirates badly weakened with the missing Will Cairns. Pain to have riders continuously missing meetings but something it seems we have to put up with.
Slater Lightcap could well struggle on his first ever visit to Edinburgh.

This is going to be another close one. Hopefully Kennett won’t be knackered after 4 minutes of work and will take extra rides, provided Havelock gives him the nod.

We’ve got Poole at home on Friday, tough match. Berwick home and away which we won’t win down there and probably won’t get the bonus from, scunny away again won’t get the win and won’t get the bonus.

so we’re looking at a maximum of 4 point imo if we win both our home matches which is no guarantee as Poole are very strong side and Berwick have a team of riders who can all score well round the dale. Paco lack of brain engagement last week in effect cost us 3 points which is going to cost us a play off spot imo.

Looks to me like the crucial fixture is Edinburgh v Berwick. A double over the Monarchs would put Berwick ahead of them.

Lose to Poole but beat Berwick and you are still in top 4.

Richard Lawson resumes his racing. He's started the journey north very early and is stopping off at Leicester en route.😉😉🤞

As you got one point for the home draw, he only cost you TWO points.

That's why Poole got Kennett to sign for King's Lynn in the NDL so they could use him ,if he doesn't have a club can't guest 😂😂😂😉😉😉

Maybe we'll see Danny Ford up at Armadale to help steer the ship.  He's quite often at away matches.

Certainly the management of the squad at Berwick was truly mystifying/incompetent/ridiculous (delete as required)

Maybe Havvy's been drinking the same water as Cami Brown, cos he seems prone to the odd mystifying decision too.
