We did finish second in the league. If the Monarchs hadn't blown a huge lead in the last league meeting at Armadale and then lost the superheat along with the bonus point the Tigers would have finished 4th in the league. Buy Maps Awful tonight. I had expected Hagon to kick on a bit this year after being thrown in at the deep end last year and retaining his u21 title. Maybe needs a consistent year as a reserve somewhere to build some confidence.

Tonight, Jordy Loftus beat him to seal the win for Edinburgh. Last week, he was the only Glasgow rider Jacob Hook managed to beat. He’s incapable of passing an opposing rider (unless it’s the showboating Castagna) which is quite remarkable for a rider whose home track is Ashfield. The gulf between his performance in the Ben Fund and what he’s delivered is night and day. i feel suggesting he’d be more comfortable in a role (#2) traditionally considered lesser than the one he’s in (#4) emphasises my point. Add to that, foreign riders are expensive, so the costs associated with signing them must be justified.

Music, announcements, crowd interactions, introductions, etc. all contribute to atmosphere. I've not been to Armadale for a few years now, but the only music I remember from previous visits was 'The Black Bear' 😁 Was the music played last night more 'appropriate' for a sporting occasion than that at Ashfield? Was the atmosphere better?
Nickinho
Whilst some of the racing in 2026 was fantastic to watch the season was a dreadful one for the Tigers. Ashton Vale ended up on a bigger average (4.00) in last night's meeting than 'Super' Mario Hausl managed all season (3.79). Sam Hagon looked like an NDL rider at times and Freddy Hodder showed flashes but everyone said that about him last season as well. His average looks enticing enough to give him another year in the job though but i can't see KJP staying as his average is tricky to squeeze in if the management decide to go with 3 heat leaders again. He's also in his mid 20s so he's unlikely to kick on anymore. Leon Flint impresses at home but is often found lacking away so he may be shown the door. Cami Brown wasn't really at fault for the poor season but he wasn't exactly the Pep Guardiola of the Championship either. The club itself could look at trying to arrange home fixtures a bit better next season as this year almost 7 weeks went by without a home meeting during the height of the summer. Hot days are generally when the fans come out in large numbers. Just a thought. And on that thought here's my thoughts on what a strong 2027 team might look like, providing all the riders can be enticed to Ashfield: 1 Chris Harris 2 Victor Palovaara/KJP 3 Anders Rowe 4 Jody Scott 5 Dan Thompson 6 Freddy Hodder 7 ??? *it all comes to a fraction under 38 points leaving a fraction over 2 for an NDL rider. Bagpuss
Flint's rolling away average is 8.00 and was only bettered by six riders who did the whole 2026 season. I'd also argue that he still has improvement in him too.
Diamonds85
I'm not a huge Anders Rowe fan, but I think at number 3 with a solid 1 and 5 and a solid partner, he would be fine. If the points limit is 40, then the below team would do well. I was very surprised at how low Palovaara's average was, so I would say he was a bit of a steal. Could also go with Jake Allen or Jody Scott at number 3 instead, but I just don't see Jody at Glasgow next season and I'm not sure how well Jake Allen goes around Ashfield? 1 Chris Harris © 7.93 2 Victor Palovaara 5.64 3 Anders Rowe 6.39 4 Mitchell McDiarmid 5.53 5 Dan Thompson 7.55 6 Anze Grmek 3.56 7 Freddy Hodder 3.31 39.
