TheWellBehavedWorrall
I like the sound of Flint and Thompson leading the line. I think there’s a lot of potential there and significantly more to come. Both continuing their development in the Premiership and abroad can only benefit us.

The jump has always been pretty big but the dropping of minimum average to 2.00 has seen a lot given places / chances that wouldn't have been if it was 3.00. The reality is the gulf between the top at bottom at CL has been to high for a while, 10 point and 2 point riders in the same race is always going to create a big disparity...doesn't mean i know what the solution is though

The Championship isn't too strong, it's the Premiership that's got weaker. It would help young riders develop if the Championship had rising stars.

I would insist they must get 4 rides too.

It's probably a bit of both in reality but the jump from NDL to Champ is too big; as I've said elsewhere doubling up also needs to be brought under control and be a means of bringing on young brits and not topping up the salaries of Masters, Harris, Pickering etc. People find it hard enough to identify with their team and riders without doubling up/down. As for Championship RS's, absolutely agree.

It is important to down grade the reserve function as there is a wide disparity in abilities which resulted in uneven team strengths in the top tier in the past. flagrag
Have a feeling that Seth Norman may be the 2.00 rider that Glasgow will go for has good equipment and already done plenty of laps around Ashfield quite a bit of raw potential with decent equipment and mechanics.

The fact that assessed foreign riders can drop under their assessment figure ridiculous and detrimental to British riders. That said why are so many Brits failing to make any real impression in the CL? Foord and Hodder lack some technical basics and blow hot and cold, Perry always gets mentions but rarely delivers. Hagon and Smith have all the backing but miss something to progress. I question the 2.00 lower limit encourages riders to be signed but with a green light for failure rather than be aspirational it has an approach of anything scored is a bonus. I would've raised the minimum average of foreigners to 5, rather than lowering it to 3. I'd also support Brits minimum average returning to 3, now we have situations where having a 2.25 average loses you a team spot to a new 2 pointer. While I realise that could happen with a 3.25 rider / minimum 3.00 ave rule, feel a 3.25 averaged rider is more likely to get a senior reserve spot than a 2.25 rider ever would.

What experience of riding Ashfield? I don't recall him riding in 500cc Youth Championship meetings

If Tigers sign him with a sponsored bike/mechanic to sort that then he could increase his average (or prove 'everyone' wrong), especially if the 4 pointer can maintain that average. Jack Smith was averaging over 5 in 2024 at reserve for the Tigers (although it dropped after he moved to 2). I'd be happy to see him back at 6. He definitely has some bogey tracks though, so I'd probably take Foord as long as something was done re his equipment.
Diamonds85
I'd take Jack Smith over any of the previously mentioned riders around a 3.00 (Foord, Perry etc) any day of the week. Particularly if the 'weaker' reserve is a 2.00 youngun.

Vinnie was fantastic for Poole, but maybe engines were lent to him, the highest ave he’s had was in his first few months in the champ at Poole, and the same for Hagon

He was on 4 from 3 and sitting on a paid win in his fourth when he lifted and hit the fence by the starting gate. It was a far more complex injury than people realise, he came back, as speedway riders do, not fully fit and playing catch up with riders who had been racing for a few months whilst he was out. He then was in the top 5 for Worky when he returned , a step up when not fully fit and playing catch up with race fitness. As fitness returned he picked up at the end of the season and whoever gets him next season will see a different rider.
