If we have much fewer teams they might look to Denmark instead as it will be deemed more competitive despite them having fewer fixtures. Also, Grand Prix will be in Ipswich next year and Richard Coleman has said he intends to continue grand prixs at Belle Vue in future years. If you are a GP rider getting more practice on UK tracks might be very beneficial as Sweden has no GP next year. What the issue re Swedish GP Arthur they must have had a round since the series started and the track in the middle of a forest normally provides great racing , finances ? My guess will be a ITV4 highlights deal, so very little money in that, these days apart from football the rest of sports on various platforms are having money reduced. Remember speedway only attracts a thousand or so fans to every meeting, so empty stadiums won't look good on a live broadcast

Remember speedway only attracts a thousand or so fans to every meeting, so empty stadiums won't look good on a live broadcast As I've already said before, Terrestrial TV as highlights is perfect as it can cut out all the bad stuff of a live meeting, in the hope that a drip feed of floating spectators will go to a live meeting now & again. For now, stick with BSN for the already converted. Personally, I'd much rather British Speedway moved to YouTube. That way, you can have Live shows, call ins, interviews, Q&A's etc. Then have 3 Live meetings every week, from each league, all on the members only. That way, it's all in one place & there can be something for everyone.
M.D Posted yesterday at 04:29 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:29 PM I have a gut feeling, and only that, that there is a person/people working behind the scenes wanting to take Eastbourne into the premier next season. As I said, it's only a gut feeling but I'm sure something is happening, I may be of course, completely wrong.

Possibly 2 & 2 making 5 but spedeworth owning the lease to the stadium & what appears to be a good working relationship with Mayfield perhaps going I together to run Eastbourne

Aries Posted yesterday at 05:42 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:42 PM (edited) We know clubs have made signings already so things must be pretty much agreed regarding points limits and league structures. Northampton are announcing a couple at their end of season do in a couple of weeks. Edited yesterday at 05:43 PM by Aries

A different consortium from the one you were involved with that want to run national league. Cookie has a point that Spedeworth and Richard Coleman already have a working relationship because of Foxhall. We also know Coleman wants an eight team league, and has taken it upon himself to negotiate a TV deal for the league so we know he’s actively involved all round. Coleman desperate for a TV deal, it wont be millions but a few hundred grand would help and they would be happy to have a loss making Club to get the TV deal over the line. Track and Stadium waiting and Spedeworth tarting it up and would presumably take bar and food dosh too. Build a cheap team who can be competitive at home stocked with home track specialists. I've a hunch the Front Man could be Chris Louis and backed by Scott Nicholls (who knows Scott may fancy a swan song there he could ride round there in the dark. I think that's more plausible than Nigel Tolley, Ive a hunch he could yet turn up at Sheffield based on a few whispers from Brummies in the know I'm still in touch with. Plenty of rider options that you would just need to add an out and out No 1 to , most of these might be surplus elsewhere? Richard Lawson Adam Ellis Matej Zagar Tom Brennan Jason Edwards Eddie Kennett Drew Kemp Vinnie Ford (RS) They would ideally want weekends and Thursdays might be difficult with summer Wednesday Stocks, Mondays might be the obvious night therefore. Wold Spedeworth shale the outside Stocks track like at Northampton> or put a foam fence in? 8th Track - heres a left field suggetion as in same Ownership! Has anyone considered Mildenhall? --- The last Promotion did innovate very well with kids and media and other schemes so running mainly school holidays may work for them to boost crowds. NDL - run the HG Aerospace Academy ,already at Ipswich 2nd halves on 5-6 weekends to keep locals who would struggle to get there in the week in traffic happy and utilise some up and coming youngsters and a few older hands. I was impressed by them on a visit to Ipswich in the summer. Nobody has ever made money tgere, very few make money in Speeday anyway, build a strong Championship Team who all have home track knowledge add a No 1 and lose 100k or so but recoup TV money . It's probably the best deal in town. Edited 12 hours ago by HGould SPELL

People have said “what difference does one more club make” and they’d have a point if it was a 10 or 11 team league. Add one more and the difference is irrelevant. But the smaller number you have in the league, that one more makes a significant difference. Get to 7 this year, get the TV deal over the line and get the 8th (or more) to join the party in 2028. 18 minutes ago, PhilTheAce said: every team can make 2 or 3 signings knowing they want them and will fit whatever the team average will be, easy to work out the 2 at northampton will be thomsen and harrison Very true, but I believe the points limit has been agreed. It’s whether you trust people enough not to bugger things up in a few weeks as to whether you pull the trigger on significant signings. I’m with you, expect it’ll be Thomson and Harrison who’ll be in regardless.
YeOldPitGate
If rumours re Eastbourne are correct lets just hope the foundations are put in place so that the new promoters have every chance of success as we don't want a situation where they pull out after one year having done a 100k plus. I did think Northampton would be a huge risk but to be fair they have been a success even with a weak team it just worries me a bit that even when the Dugards were involved and didn't have to worry about stadium rent they had to shore up the finances pretty much every season. Aries
I can’t see Louis dumping his beloved Ipswich just to rock up elsewhere. It wasn’t Ipswich he had an issue with, but those at the BSPL. He even gave up his co-comms work alongside Tatum and seems to have walked away from the sport entirely. He did dabble with Mildenhall years back though alongside Michael Lee. Never say never but I’d be hugely surprised.
cowboy cookie returns?
I know efforts are still on going to get Coventry & Peterborough back but they are still a few years away at best & Cradley further away than that if it ever happens. Currenty it looks like Wolves & Birmingham are finished with no hope of return. Spedeworth with deane wood have several venues Eastbourne included so maybe the future expansion of the sport will come though a partnership between uk speedway & spedeworth. Ipswich & Northampton certainly seems to work well with Deane so who knows.
M.D
Chris Louis on behalf of the BSPL did approach the Dugard's a couple of years ago about the return of the sport, but like us, was told no. Things have changed now.

Hi M.D any idea if the prospective new promoters have the resources to be in this for the medium too long term given in recent years Eastie struggled to get four figure crowds ? I'm not saying it can't be done but get the feeling if the plan is going in on a shoestring budget and a cheap team that won't work in the long term here. Obviously I'm as keen as all of us for it to be sustainable with the long term plan to get back up to an eight team top league.
