Plymouth 2027

Recommended Posts

I've been there a couple couple of times in the last 2 years.  Track might not be the best, but the setup there is very good and have enjoyed both trips and been made very welcome.

Fingers crossed they get the funds, but watching that video with Phillips, he didn't seem very confident they'd run next year.

I've got a big soft spot for Plymouth, I don't know why I just do. I've only visited 3 times (twice before the track upgrades and once after) and I just love the place. They always put some interesting teams out too. I've done my bit towards the air fence fund, hopefully it's enough in the end.

If the air fence isn't sorted until 2028, could Plymouth join the NORA league for a season just to keep speedway alive in Devon? I know the air fence rules aren't quite as strict in the NORA league.

I think IF the air fence is sorted and Plymouth run, the team may be built on quite a budget. I'm thinking something with Ben Barker at number 1 and possibly the return of the likes of Kyle Newman and Ben Trigger at reserve.

Good luck Plymouth, if you run I'll definitely make it a goal to visit next season, it's just so far away for me.

Buys extra time to generate funds though. If I was a Plymouth regular I'd be happy to pay £50 a month throughout the season to help keep my club open. But I can't just drop £500 in one go...

If they already have 19k, it would only take 500 fans donating £50-55 each (once, not every moth)  the fence would be paid for.

Shop Lawn & Garden

Sounds easy saying that but to put it into practice is another thing. But could have a raffle at say £20 a head to get your name / company name on a panel, then sell other panel sponsorship at say £250-500 depending on size

Sounds nice but not very realistic. Need more people to donate less each and a few generous donations, then it's sorted. Which again, is easier said than done...

Not picking on you at all Diamonds but generally this logic that "let's go NORA" in the event our Ait Fence is not good enough for SCB / BSPL / ACU frankly sickens me and terrifies me.

If the powers that be, rightly or wrongly, say an Air Fence is not fit for purpose for the likes of Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris, Richard Lawson and Sam Masters and other to race, how in gods name can anyone then justify sneaking in a season of NORA for Ben Morley, Jack Kingston , and others who are no longer under the SCB banner and indeed dozens of young riders denied the opportunity to ride there as it's deemed unsafe for ACU / SCB and BSPL but safe enough for an Amateur Body.

Just think about the consequnces of somebody suffering a life changing injury under those circumstances and then returning in 2028 with a new Air Fence paid for by Sponsors and Supporters.

For that reason alone, I think it sould be 2027 with a new Air fence, or 2028 without a new Air fence.

TRAINING with one or two riders not RACING fair enough but full on competitive Racing NOPE!

As an aside, a very interesting posting from Norris Norris (Floppy) on Plymouth Facebook... I assume he means his beloved Eastbourne and very telling i think that he believes saving Teams is better than bringing back his old Team as some sort of stunt to prop up an 8 Team League that is looking increasingly like a Coleman vanity and ego project...well said Floppy!

He posted

"Rather than looking at spending 100s of thousands getting former speedway venues back,, it should be priority for the BSPL to finance the rest needed for the air fence immediately and then let Mark and Plymouth concentrate on building from their amazing 2026 season.
Regards Flop xx"

But no-one has said this have they?  As far as I can see they've just made a rule that it can't be older than xx years but with no justification on why, certainly nothing to suggest it does not continue to provide an effective safety barrier.  Perhaps the HSE should do some testing.

It certainly done its job in the last meeting with Berwick, PK and Nichols was a fair test of it.
