  1. The future for the sport if it has one, stadiums built far from housing and not used for greyhound racing, Stock cars , rugby/football.

  2. Fantastic News for Monarchs Management and fans, hopefully with the basics in place Monarchs can run I 2023.Also well done to West Lothian Council for recognising the Monarchs situation and being Pro -active,something Edinburgh Council should hold their head in shame for over the last 25-30 years.

  4. Not acceptable from Ricky Wells. It’s not a one off, he’s been on the slide for weeks. Pijper has nosedived too. Bandits could easily have won that. Promising debut from Knudsen. Fantastic max from Bomber

  5. With the problems facing a few current venues, this is brilliant news. With Northside making amazing progress, maybe there is a bit of hope for Panthers finding a new home.

  7. Chris Harris, what a fantastic servant to British Speedway. Wish there were more like him!

  8. Track sizes can be deceptive. As an example if you asked 100 people which was the biggest Redcar or Eastbourne I'd wager 90% would say Redcar. It's actually 4 yards smaller. Lost a speedway quiz due to that a few years ago for a nice old Brummies race jacket.. Lol I agree wider straights and sweeping turns best for modern bikes which is why Ashfield is my favourite to visit. New Workington tracks looks stunning too..

  9. Personally I'd like to see Sam fronting the show... on his own for the whole 2-2 and a half hours, or pair him up with Rosco, the dream team!

  11. The figures could be spread over 12 months maybe? Call it £20 a month, (circa a fiver a week), meaning £240 per person per year.. A "Community Club" is, for me, something that could work in Speedway given such a relatively small amount of patrons attend, but have a fierce loyalty to their teams and sport.... Let's be honest, the way the sport is ran, if you are still a regular today you are a "lifer"' and it can be as much about the social aspect of the night out as it is the racing, (maybe even more?)... Therefore, use the "social event" aspect as its selling point.. Run it like a supporters club holding social events through the whole year to keep fans engaged even in the off season, eg eve of season party, end of season party, xmas party etc.. Get a detailed database on the supporters, birthdays for example to send cards from the club to them and their family members, and if any kids parties are being held at McDonalds etc, then send a rider to attend to surprise the kid and spread the word... And run weekly or monthly prize draws to those who commit to add some interest, doesnt have to be huge prizes, the constant engaging is the key... Discount merchandise too, to members of the club, it looks great in Poland seeing loads of fans with an "identity" by all wearing club colours, and can only prick interest in those yet to be engaged.. For clubs that dont have someone happy to run Speedway as a vanity project with deep, deep pockets, then surely having a collective of local, like minded folk could be a way forward? Sponsors could/may still put in their four or five figure sums the same as they do now, and there will still need to be a leadership team, who could/may still be the ones putting big money in as is currently the way things are ran now.. However, having a few hundred fans engaged and involved with their club for 12 months using regular communication with them, and getting 20 matches or so for £240 a season, has to be worth giving a go surely as it will provide guaranteed income, (by DD, with any default payments meaning no more membership)... Give the size of many clubs, a "Community Club" could just be a possibility, giving fans a real stake in their team, whilst helping spread the cost over 12 months and providing them with real value for money Speedway at the same time, and will also help them be in charge of their own destiny, rather than hoping the sole person in charge can keep what they enjoy attending so much, going for the whole season...

  12. If there is such a unique section and connections within the airfence set up then professionalism would dictate you have at least one spare of that special section and connections ready for a speedy switch That would mean an embarrassing bodge it job wouldn't be required

  13. Don’t know why so many people knock Kemp, he can be a bit inconsistent but he still young and learning.

  14. Not the best of meetings. Since the track has got smooth, we have lost our home advantage and teams come here no with little fear. Very little if my passing tonight which makes it a gating fest. The track seems to have lost the inside passing line. Chris Harris a class above and was led for 2 seconds all night when Lawson charged under him in heat 15 but he dealt with that and pulled away. Special mention to Flint who continued to show his liking for Poole, carrying on from last season when he scored paid 13. Also the young Dane looks impressive and definitely one for the future. The rest looked poor, especially Wells who was given an undeserved second opportunity in heat 14 when tailed right off. The ref made a howler allowing heat 11 to start when the start martial virtually knocked Kemp off his bike. Green light and go when Kemp wasn’t ready. Red light and restart would have been the fair outcome.

  19. They’ll have enough in place that it’ll be ready to start the season. As you said with the staggered development it won’t be complete come the start of the new season but enough that it’ll be ready to race and spectators to attend.

  21. I guess it's the age old problem of where do you prioritise your spending. Generally there will always be the option of spending on riders or equipment/track/infrastructure. It's easy to understand why promoters spend on riders/wages etc as it gives them a better return assuming everything goes to plan. Until something like last night happens. My biggest bugbear about UK speedway is their total lack of spending when it comes to the tracks and equipment. they always seem to spend the absolute minimum, yet this is the stage the riders need to perform on. If they would divert a little more spending to wards the track and it's equipment, the show could be so much better. Patchy unprepared tracks and safety equipment on a shoe string, tapes that constantly malfunction, PA systems no one can hear. All these other things are part of the overall experience and they have an effect, but no, it's always straight out the door to get the top bidding on the best rider they can afford. They then have to ride on poorly prepared tracks with stuff breaking down left right and centre. The balance is wrong.

  26. So you'd have waited til the morning of the match? What time 2am, 4am,6am,8am,10am, 11.58am. Then you'd announce the blindingly obvious. It's going to hammer down from early afternoon, so the match we could have called off last night, so that you coukd plan your day accordingly.plus riders officials medics etc plan there's, we're going to call off now instead just to wind up to 1000 people up. Not to mention those at work, at school, preparing bikes, preparing medical kits, getting food in etc etc. Strikes me that rather than admit Plymouth we're right and you were wrong, you want to carry on against the blindingly obvious facts.

  29. "Changes to Greyhound media rights in 2024 could well see Swindon losing a number of meetings. " I saw that someone had posted the above comment on the Adver story about the stadium. It could explain a lot because its always been said that the payments from the bookmakers has made the greyhounds profitable. If that income is lost then no need for the stadium. Delay the stadium build enough so we can't commit to 2023 and then say the greyhounds don't make it pay anymore and then they have the perfect excuse to apply for housing.

  33. Don't get the obsession with big tracks that often deliver spread out processional racing. Surely a track similar length to Armadale and Redcar built to modern requirements with shorter straights and sweeping turns is ideal. Besides if wishing to retain most of the current 1 to 7 surely give them like for like as opposed to something totally alien.

  34. Redcar is only 11 metres bigger, so surely it’s the shape not the size. Lol

  38. If you got 600 paying fans through the door you wouldn't need any schemes for additional cash... 600 fans paying 15 quid to get into the meeting brings in 9k... Savagely basic figures but 2.5k to get the home meeting on and 500 quid travel for the away meeting leaves you with 6k to pay the riders over 2 meetings averaging 60 points at home and 40 points away including bonus points gives you an average rate for the team of 60 quid a point... So there lies your first problem or challenge getting fans to come and watch... however if you can guarentee 600 fans through the door you will have a hell of a start... Regards THJ

  39. Exactly. The damage is already done. They can ride things out as they already have the financial foundation in place from the early batches of houses. I'm just flabbergasted it's taken so long for so many to realise as Stadia Uk / Gaming International have such a history of this at other places.

  42. Sheffields statement just show a how unprofessional the sport is Surely if you have a section of air fence that’s different to the norm then you have a spare for that specific section just in case for that 1 moment you will need it. not having spares lies solely on Sheffield promotion. The patchy track that caused the crashes lies with the Sheffield promotion. And BTW. Other clubs would have been the same. Let’s hope they will learn from this mistake and go get the spares they need.

  43. It wasn’t a bodge job if you go on face book one of the track staff explained the problem. I’m not repeating it cus takes too long to type. If you find it you will understand the implications what Danny Kings impact caused. Bit of a chain reaction and a problem that has not happened ever before apparently. It wasn’t a case of just blowing another panel up so for all those snipes our track staff have had to endure and time wasting quips which were totally unjustified. Hope Danny and paul starke are ok Both high speed smashes
