Just heard some very sad news that prolific speedway journalist and historian and my old friend, John Chaplin, has died. R.I.P.,  John.

Very sad to hear this - John has been a highly valued and dedicated contributor to our Classic Speedway magazine since its inception in 2008.

Sad news indeed. Used to enjoy reading John's comments (occasionally controversial but thought provoking) and will be sorely missed.

Always an engaging and enormously knowledgeable writer, but most of all a lifelong Speedway enthusiast. RIP John, you will be sorely missed.

I have a few of his books,  very sad that there won't be any more.

So important that speedway history has been logged and preserved by Mr Chaplin and others.
