Sheffield v Leicester- 25th June
szkocjasid replied to InTheDeepStuff's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I can understand the frustration, Edinburgh fans have experienced it to, but replacing a 6 point Prem rider with a 4 point Champ rider is not the answer. Now if Leicester said they'd prefer Lewis Kerr because he'd be available every match, that would be understandable. -

Well done to Joe T for a good score. -
Having something tangibly worth winning is the breakthrough the sport needs above anything else... Other sports show that the bigger the prize, the bigger the interest, and it then becomes a self fulfilling prophecy... A top league with a seven figure prize fund, would give each meeting some relevance and also give the tier two teams something to aspire to be in.. With a big prize up for grabs, winning then means something, with the potential result of the meeting being the engagement, regardless of the racing.. And if you deliver great racing too, then even better.. There must have been over 3,000 Aces fans in attendance at the recent GP's, (like last year), yet crowds for UK Speedway at the NSS are not even half that.. The reason? The lack of engagement that UK Speedway has... Same track, same great racing, even some of the same riders in view... The key differences being the size of the prize on offer, the credibility of the occasion, and the nights the events are ran on.. If any "new blood" coming into the sport could secure some major sponsorship for it, then that truly would be a game changer for UK Speedways future... They would though, firstly, have to do a huge job on the brands image and reputation, and unpick so much of what is currently seen as acceptable... The fans are still out there, in much greater numbers than currently physically attend.. UK Speedway just needs to find a way to engage them again... Something worth winning would be a huge start...

Very heavy thunder storm hitting Teesside at present.

Not too many fewer than Ipswich Down will get next season I'd imagine π
-
Really hope that doesn't happen, would make the league a foregone conclusion (more than it is now). Although it would be interesting if Jenkins got knocked out of the Cup by Poole, then won it with Poole π

He is getting on now though not going to be the same rider as he was a decade ago. -
Success is what brings in crowd levels. Has always been the case. Exeter were a prime example of that in the premier days, regular got well over 1000 a week due to winning at home 99 percent of the time even though they were awful away from home most of the time. And the racing there was absolutely rubbish, gate and go. Having a big council funded stadium with a nice, good race track doesn't guarantee a good crowd as Belle Vue have found out.

Maybe he is there learning how to get investment from Poland for Leicester, which is more important than watching the team elsewhere. -
Nonsense, if that were true Redcar and belle Vue would be packed every meeting but they are in exactly the same boat as everyone else. The racing makes no difference to crowd levels.

Jordan Jenkins not the end of the world, in fact as suggested on another thread would make a potential swap for Bowes?!*-' Just hope Bomber is on an onit offit cycle cos then he'll be as great as he was on Wednesday.

Assuming you mean Jenkins for Bowes? Yeah I'd go for that
