Ipswich v Sheffield Thursday 16th July

These lads are self employed, and, incredibly, can lose a contract for doing more than what was expected of them... So, for me, it's completely understandable if some do have little time for those who have contracted them.. You certainly don't have to like those you work for, or with... And many of the DU'ers are the only reason plenty of tracks exist at the level they do... Due to two tracks sharing their costs... If the DU'ers decided "it was no longer worth it", then there wouldn't be much left would there?.. "Turn up, do your job on the track, and go home".. That would be a fair expectation I would suggest . -

Most of the riders on the domestic scene don't like Lawson never mind what the actual fans think -
I think you're missing the underlying truth: the only thing that is unworkable is continuing as we are. Damian Bates' press release on Monday hinted at the unspoken truth that speedway is on the road to extinction without a major change of direction (and he should know). A league of eight is barely any better than a league of six and 'doubling up' in any of its guises is never going to engage a new generation of supporters or sell itself to TV. The ONLY solution is root and branch change and a new (more meaningful) approach to European engagement on OUR terms, NOT Poland's. The solution to all the world's greatest problems is ALWAYS seen by many as unworkable. The challenge for speedway's survival is to MAKE IT workable... or watch it die! Believe me, there's no alternative. Sign the petition NOW: Petition · Survival of British Speedway Racing in 2027 and beyond - United Kingdom · Change.org

This coming from a guy who only turns up for his club in the play off season. Just becuase you don’t support your club very well and expect nothing back don’t put us all in your bracket 😂 I suggest he sticks to his main job only and stops riding for Ipswich. Majority of fans I spoke to in Ipswich don’t like him and he doesn’t like the club clearly. If this was an actual job he would have been on a final warning by now for breaking multiple company policies 😀 -

Was it really necessary to explain this 😂 A reminder that not everything has to be taken “literally”. Neila is obviously a Grade A wind-up merchant when it comes to all things Poole… -

Luke might be a heat leader at Scunthorpe but I wouldn't say he's stronger than Bowes at any track other than Scunthorpe itself. -

Much depends on the team building limit of course If they plan for a GP no.1 and we factor in that Doyle may no longer be a GP rider come next year but they fit him in at no.5 as a fan favourite, then you will likely have to choose between Musielek and Brennan - there is not a chance that you will keep both and may come down to have the lower average to aid the rest of the team building. Perhaps Brennan may also feel he may be best on a bigger track such as Sheffield or Belle Vue depending on rider movement - so many things can happen between now and then but 100% believe that there will be 3 maximum of the current Witches side back next year -

I guess the pro-Poole response would be Bowes got that average riding in the top 5, so it's not a "reserve" average. If you did have a restriction on team positions & it meant Luke Harrison couldn't guest at because he's ridden as a "heat leader" that would unfairly restrict Harrison because he was unlucky to be racing in a harder position. If they brought in a rule that guest reserves have to be currevt reserves, then you could get a situation where Kyle Newman (4.91) could guest at reserve but Vinny Foord (3.40) couldn't. Maybe if there were more restrictions on riding order (top 2 at 1&5, weakest reserve at 7 - can't be replaced in heat 8 the averages would be more "realistic" but they'll always be situations when a guest is stronger than a missing rider, especially with rolling averages. -

The issue is ten-fold unfortunately... How many riders in the past 10 years have held down a regular World level position not having a ride in Poland etc. If we are to develop riders that have to put the UK first, then that development will stop as riders, young riders will have ambition to race in Poland, they will have ambition to race at GP level - it was the same many moons ago where you had Italians, Hungarians, Poles etc all with the ambition to race in the UK and compete at International level - the only thing that has changed is the destination now which is Poland Currently, the issue is that riders that have good grounding, good sponsorship, good equipment and above all, good ability and attitude are and will find their way to the top, you've seen in recent years with Robert Lambert, Dan Bewley etc. and I think although its an early assessment - Cooper Rushen could be next... What we are not doing is giving enough opportunity to develop riders of a standard fit for British Championship level, for every Robert Lambert that we hope to produce, we need 10x Chris Harris, Scott Nicholls etc. and for me there is just not the opportunity, and support for these riders to develop a domestic career Just plucking a few names out of the hat, JPB being one, Ashton Boughen being another, plus many more that come into the sport show promise, they might not make world level racing but seems that a domestic career is given up for many reasons.... I still believe a Grand Prix style British Championship format should be created inline with a sponsor and TV coverage where riders whom compete can earn a decent prize money over 7 or 8 championship rounds, and this should act as a potential achievable ambition to those riders who don't have that X Factor of making Poland and/or World Level I still marketing a domestic British Championship is easier, a one-off event in a town/city is easier to promote, more than likely as a "British" championship round has more meaning to get old fans and encourage new fans to attend - it is then down to that "host" club to maximise any further potential from on-site attendees I have gone a bit off-topic so I shall stop there... - Today

I think both Musielek & Brennan will be back. Might see Rew back but other than that I think it will be new blood. It would be crazy to let Brennan go after a poor season. -

About a month ago the last rain we had here. Thunder, lightening the full works but nothing since. At the bottom of the official website there’s no end of links to these kind of races with not just Emil and Doyle making passes, but the likes of Ellis and King too. I’m not saying for one minute it’s a fantastic race track, but we DO get passing here now and again. This move from Emil on the last bend wouldn’t happen this year for whatever reason. That outside line particularly off the fourth bend, just isn’t there. That isn’t anything to do with shape because the track hasn’t changed, it’s all to do with prep. There’s plenty of room to race there now and Louis done a superb job widening the circuit from the old tight, narrow track. -
Sheffield will need to get there combined average back to 37 (currently GSA 38.66) so reduction of 1.66 of Jack Holder and say Jye Etheridge’s average. Charles Wright is a good shout as imagine will Be wanting more meetings now making comeback for Redcar not sure if it’s his converted Championship or last years Premiership average that will be used? Was wondering if Jake Allen might be able to be squeezed in as the second change would be an improvement at number 6 and was unlucky that injury stopped his Sheffield Premiership team spot after 1 or 2 meetings last time. Both of those might be just too high but no point just brining in Wright if not going to strengthen reserve berth

Just to say that whilst gate and hold on is a feature at Foxhall - Jason was of course the master of getting past people at Foxhall - but I do recall one race with DanB where he flew past someone to claim a win -i might even have been one of Jason / Emil I would have to look it up! It was definitely mentioned on this forum post meeting as he made up a huge amount of ground to claim the pass. -

Wasn't there last night but same for the match with the Lion's Tobi tailed off badly in the latter heats as he couldn't find anyway to pass people despite trying really hard to from what I could see! I do think moisture in the track is tough this year due to the really warm dry weather - when did Ipswich last have any meaningful rainfall? -

Good return back to racing for Kyle Howarth 10 points that would have been 12 if chain not snapped in ht14, hopefully remains fit for Leicester and Glasgow for rest of the season -

Berwick vs Redcar Due to unforeseen circumstances, tomorrow night’s scheduled fixture against Redcar has been cancelled. A significant issue with parts of the electrical system means essential areas of the stadium’s power supply cannot currently be used. Our team has been working closely with the relevant parties since being notified late yesterday night, but unfortunately the issue cannot be resolved in time for tomorrow’s meeting. We fully appreciate how disappointing this is for supporters and riders, and we share that frustration. We thank everyone for their understanding during this unexpected situation. Further updates will be provided when we have confirmed information to share. E-tickets will be refunded and Golden Ticket winners will be rolled over to the next meeting
