  1. Past hour
  2. I can tell you from vast experience from a mechanics point of view from heat 1 to heat 15 the meeting feels like it’s going 1000 mph, you rarely get to see any other races except your riders races and you are constantly working on the bikes inbetween his races and if you are a trusted and long term mechanic (not just for a night )the intensity is amplified because their race win/loss becomes your race/win and from a riders point of view depending on how involved you are with your bikes the meeting ticks along just nicely, it is a completely different experience to the fan experience and far more intense
  3. Fully agree. 7.93 Home average. Very happy with that.
  4. The next important thing for Wednesday night at Poole is who guests for Redcar or will it be R/R 🤷‍♂️
  5. If riders rode Horsens without the neutral zone that the rulebook states needs to be there, why not Bradford? I tried to use a capital Y to mean a group of people, not just you.
  6. Of course anyone that is picked doesn’t have to accept it that’s a given. I think that’s unlikely however. The financials and the chance to ride with world class riders would be too tempting to turn down. It also doesn’t matter how much Louis would want him unless he signed him at number six which wouldn’t happen. If Ipswich give up their retention of Edwards, they’d have to sit and wait for their pick and I’m sure someone would go for Rushen before Ipswich got their chance. Unless Cooper did what Jenkins did last year, reject the advances of other clubs that picked them first and then accept Ipswich’ offer when it’s their turn! Another reason why this rising star scheme doesn’t work and is a total nonsense. No rider should be forced to ride where they’re told, that should NEVER have been the case and good on Jenkins for sticking to his guns and riding where he wanted. Scrap it.
  7. Just enjoyed my celebration cooked brekkie at the Premier Inn Middlesbrough. Ok we didn't win the 1st leg but just the 2 points in it sets the Treble up nicely. Fair play to Redcar for winning fair and square. And a nice welcome from the announcer to the Pirates ☠️ sat in the 'royal box'. Great effort by the Pirates despite their mechanical issues. All set up nicely for Wednesday at WINborne Road 👍 C'mon the Boyzzz ☠️ 💪
  8. Cooper & the team around him seem very level headed. I think everyone would love to see Cooper become a Witch. However I think if Coopers team decides it’s too early then he’ll give it a miss. If he is picked he doesn’t have to accept the rs position. Louis could well be one of those who is advising him who knows.
  9. I’ve asked about the crowd capacity at Glasgow which apparently is small which most probably rules it out to host a GP. Regarding Ipswich, I’ve suggested it could be a suitable venue using the existing track or as some folk think the circuit is not suitable, maybe utilise some or all of the stox track build a temporary track for a GP. Yes I do know air fences can be leased and do not see that as an issue for either of the Ipswich suggestions. Re Bradford - what’s with a 1 metre run off area? Where /why would it be located? And how will that resolve the challenge of removing a building which currently negates a neutral zone being in place? You may say “rules can be changed” maybe so - but whilst that building is in place no rider would take to the track nor frankly the FIM expect them to do so as obtaining insurance would be impossible.
  10. The way I saw it was that the Tobias/Ace move was in essence simply a block pass, accurately carried out be it close/harsh, and Ace had options. Ace should have gone. With the Kyle/Zac one it was always going to be close/harsh, but the manoeuvre was poorly executed (there seemed to me to be significant contact). But on balance a racing incident, part and parcel of the spectacle we love to watch. If Zac had fallen (any which way) it would have forced the ref to exclude Kyle. Both incidents were on the edge racing, fit for a final.
  11. Today
  12. From Parken, Horsens, Cardiff, Narodowy, Ullevi, Ratina, Toruń, Wrocław and the two at Stockholm... We (actually You) are now talking Glasgow for a Grand Prix and how a 100k euro APD prevents Ipswich of all places from hosting a Grand Prix. APD's can be leased you know, and Bradford can host a Grand Prix with a 1 meter run off area. All Bradford needs is a promoter willing to do it and they'll change the rules. They've done it for Horsens previously.
  13. Don’t know if I’m easily please but I’m happy with the usual 90mins it takes to run a meeting. Even if it runs over at 120mins its ok with me. The replays and interviews on the big screen plus those over the mike keep my interest between heats, if I’m not chatting with folk that is. Add in the antics of Chase and his interval white line challenge for the kids (big & small) pass the time nicely. Andy sticks to his regular quick track grades with only two of the four “holding things up” as the others are at the interval and before heat 15 when there are breaks anyway. Pre meeting we have Philips manager interviews and post meeting we have the press conference with Hayley & Lee before we can have one to one chats with the riders, all in the lovely surrounds of the Peter Craven suite. Being from an era of three TV channels, a whip & top to play with and chippy tea being a treat, perhaps my entertainment sensibilities are out of step with current trends. I agree about the stats thing and I’ve spoken with people trying to produce an app to draw the kids in using stats but nothing has surfaced yet. Also there should be more for the managers to do and us second guess them as currently the format is far too ridge, for no apparent reason that I can see.
  14. Speedway is full of inconsistent referees etc. Max fricke went inside Leon and only went off his line by a few yards and got excluded. Chris Harris went inside Richard lawson and hit Lawson's bike after he had crashed and Lawson got excluded. At Edinburgh Nick Morris got excluded when Edinburgh showed the referee an ultra slow motion replay but a week or so later that wasn't available when Luke Harrison was excluded.
  15. But you’ve been a big advocate of the rising star system in the Premiership and you’ve just highlighted one of the major flaws. We disagreed on this topic right from the beginning. Cooper will turn 16 by the time the season starts and so will be on the list IF it remains. Someone will pick him and the concerns you’ve just raised will become valid. There is such a disparity between the riders on the rising star list that makes the whole thing a farcical nonsense. It becomes even more farcical that clubs end up being FORCED to include a rider that they don’t particularly want because after everyone else has had their pick, there’s bugger all left except cannon fodder! You're gonna get one or two clubs that will pick up a ringer that will give them an immediate advantage before a wheel has been turned, and a couple that will have to accept a Sam Hagon or Joe Thompson (with the greatest of respect) that could end up costing that club a league title! The rising star list is actually quite extensive if you look at it. But the vast majority of them shouldn’t even be on there. You wouldn’t take a bet on most of them even getting around for four laps! There’s a very small pool of riders that would even be in the hunt for a single point, but even then there’s a disparity between your Flints, Edwards’ and Mulford’s to your Hagon’s and J Thompson’s. Chuck this rising star balls in the bin. Settle on a points limit, and let every club sign any seven riders they like to fit in to that points limit.
  16. Yeah for me, Ace should’ve been excluded with the Toby incident. I just about agree with the Howarth Toby one as I think Toby could’ve done more to stay on. with the Zach Howarth one I think it was past tough racing, and there was cause for Howarth to go. Left Zach with no chance and how Zach stayed on I no idea. do you have to jump off the bike for their to be an exclusion? I think in cases like the Howarth Zach one, common sense could be used?
  17. Under CURRENT rules, Edwards is eligible for a rising star birth. You have to be 23 or under on January 1st (Edwards isn’t 24 until September) and have a Premiership average of 4.00 or under. Edwards qualifies on both counts. Again under current rules, Ipswich have the option of “protecting” their rising star if he qualifies for the following season so the option would be there for Ipswich to retain him regardless of priority “picks”. With changes to the structure of the leagues heavily mooted, I’d be surprised if these rules on rising stars stays exactly as it is. I’m not even convinced there will be a “rising star” for the Premiership next season but we’ll have to wait and see on that. Last I heard a week or so ago, with the AGM a month away, several meetings have already taken place and literally none of those involved can agree on anything! It could be a long winter…
  18. A ridiculously great player.... The BZ of Baseball...!!!
  19. Yesterday
  20. If Cook wanted to end his season early or fork out a lot of money for mangled bikes then he might have technically been better coming off but I'm not sure if Kyle actually did touch him so the ref might have ended up excluding Zach anyway (personally thought it was a wee bit dirty from Kyle and wouldn't have argued if he did get excluded in this scenario) For the Ace-Tobius one it just depends on the ref, most fans on here seemed to have to think Ace should have went and I'm sure a few refs would agree. I was 50/50 on first watch of the incident and every replay shown made me change my mind so it can just be down to luck, Tobi was the rider on the outside at Poole and he still got excluded for example even though Kyle moved onto his line a bit.
  21. I don’t know what Flint you’ve been watching. Here are his home scores for the season……4+2 8+1 14+1 5+1 8 9+1 11+1 7+1 9+1 6+2 8+2 9+1 13+1 8+3 and 8…….and in my view he’s committed to improving further. I’d definitely have him back.
  22. Official collection of Ben Fund for 2025. Well done to all fans for giving this season. PREMIERSHIP Club Belle Vue £1,397.00 Birmingham £1,125.00 Ipswich £3,362.58 King's Lynn £1,043.00 Leicester £1,964.84 Oxford £1,203.89 Sheffield £751.00 CHAMPIONSHIP Club Berwick £1,885.00 Edinburgh £1,609.00 Glasgow £1,231.20 Plymouth £743.09 Poole £1,584.35 Redcar £732.96 Scunthorpe £900.00 Workington £916.50 NATIONAL LEAGUE Club Kent £603.00
  23. If Edwards is eligible he'd be a great RS, if he's too old now would be available on a 3.00 ave, while Jenkins would be on 3.46. Singing a former RS with a 25% reduction worked wonders for them this year.
  24. But I fear the world series will be as one-sided as the NLCS.
  25. looks a strong team, I'd have Edwards as RS if he's still an option.
  26. Yes a lot of bike issues, no idea why, doubt he had any idea either, good rider but not very hands on!!
  27. Rocketfuelman had another poor night by his standards
  28. Did you see Shohei Othani's performance in game 4 of NLCS?Apologies for the post not being speedway related. https://www.mlb.com/news/shohei-ohtani-nlcs-game-4-facts-and-figures Astonishing!!!!
